RMan is missing some files when deleting obsolete archivelogs
Hi allin one of our databases 9iR2, I noticed a rather strange behavior of the RMan delete obsolete archivelogs. The RMan script has the "OBSOLETE RECOVERY WINDOW DELETE 7 DAYS DEVICE TYPE DISK"-command. If RMan deletes the archivelogs regularly. But unfortunately, in every race, it leaves 3 files cancelled. The log file is (only relevant lines):
Remove the following obsolete backups and copies:
Making key time filename/handle type
---- ----
Archive 24779 08 - SEVEN journal.-10 /oralogs/oraArchive/VG41MED/VG41MED_12402.ora
Archive Log 24780 08-SEVEN.-10 /oralogs/oraArchive/VG41MED/VG41MED_12403.ora
...
Archive 24785 08 - SEVEN journal.-10 /oralogs/oraArchive/VG41MED/VG41MED_12408.ora
on the next race (the next day) the log file says:
Remove the following obsolete backups and copies:
Making key time filename/handle type
---- ----
Archive Log 24799 09-SEPT.-10 /oralogs/oraArchive/VG41MED/VG41MED_12412.ora
Archive 24800 09 - SEVEN journal.-10 /oralogs/oraArchive/VG41MED/VG41MED_12413.ora
...
Archive Log 24805 09-SEPT.-10 /oralogs/oraArchive/VG41MED/VG41MED_12418.ora
As you can see, RMan lack VG41MED12409.ora log file, VG41MED12410.ora, and VG41MED_12411.ora that are available before and after the backup procedure. We treat archivelogs on operating system level. A "overlap archivelog all ' - command does not list these 3 files, if the database thinks that they are removed - which is not really true. This odd pattern is repeated every day, so my archivelog directory is growing everyday with the 3 files not deleted.
This behavior appears still more strange, because the RMan backup script even run on 3 other databases with same structure does not show this "error". I checked the configuration of 4 databases and not detected no difference.
Maybe it's a corrupt controlfile (we do not catalog-db). Someone has any idea how to solve this problem?
Thank you
Friedhelm

Hello
(1) I think the command of OVERLAP is the only way to know what archivelogs are always specific to the database (expired or available) kn.
(2) thank you for your explanations. You're right - the order REPORT OBSOLETE list backups, but my problem are the obsolete archivelogs of backups. If my humble opinion REPORT OBSOLETE wouldn't help.
In fact no and no :).
(1) a simple
list archivelog all;
lists the known archivelog (expired or available) files.
crosscheck archivelog all;
will check if the information on their availability is still topical, but it will not help you in this case (they exist!)
2.
report obsolete recovery...;
http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B10501_01/server.920/a96566/rcmconc3.htm#463220
Order REPORT displays OBSOLETE backups and copies of data files, control files, and archived redo logs that can be deleted because they are no longer needed.
...
OK, but if you read a little more of the documentation:
...
In addition to backups of file obsolete data, RMAN reports obsolete archived newspapers and archived backups of logs. When backups of files of data from one point in time are obsolete, then archived logs that can apply to these data files are also is no longer necessary and become obsolete according to the specified retention policy.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have increased the CONTROLFILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME now and watch the results next night. Perhaps the reason for this behavior is the fact that this database is very small compared to other databases, which do not show the effect.
I'll post the result of this strategy, here the next few days.
Wait & see
Best regards
Phil

What I did in VM package when some files is deleted?
My VM has not started, so I deleted the 2 files (.vmem and .vmss) and 2 files (. vmdk.lck and. vmem.lck) VM package that did not exist in the backup, I had. After that, the VM booted up OK.
So my question is what I've done here and everything is OK now? Or something more damage in the virtual machine. I need to know if I should continue working in this virtual machine or to go back to my last backup safe. I'd rather not have to use the backup because it is four days old.
The error message I got in the first place was the fatal error VMware Fusion: signal (vmx) unexpected: 10.
Your virtual machine is in suspension - VMS and vmem are respectively suspended vm and memory of the virtual machine. Your VM is able to start because of the error in this file noot. Now, everything will be fine

HP Officejet Pro 8600 for young or skips lines especially bullets when printing. This isn't a problem of ink.
The documents that are printed look fine except some lines especially bullets Miss. Always the same lines/bullets Miss.
I tried printing from Win XP, 7 and 8 - all have the same problem and the same senses are missing. The print view looks very good.
This happens when you print items from the internet. I use Chrome on all computers.

I used Acrobat 8 professional for years without problem using earlier versions of Windows (XP Professional) and MS Office. I've also successfully used to convert multiple Excel 2013 files in PDF format. But recently it has stopped working, and now I can't convert a file... I just got this message. I tried to run the installer in repair mode, but this did not help. Any suggestions?
Hi problem conversion Excel,.
Please see supported web browsers and applications of PDFMaker. PDF Maker provided with Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Office 2013. I'm curious to know how you create the form of files PDF Excel 2013 previously.

RMAN does not delete obsolete files in a reliable way
Hello experts RMAN,
I have 11.2.0.1.0 on Windows Server 2003
This instance IS in ArchiveLog mode. Do NOT use the catalogue
Recently, I noticed inconsistent behavior of RMAN to delete obsolete backup sets.
Let me give you an example: for months, I had the window of recovery set to 12 days.
RMAN > view the retention policy.
CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY OF 12 DAYS WINDOW;
Yesterday, 3/27 report obsolete showed this file:
20270 23 March 12 backup set
Total backup, 20270 F:\ORACLE\FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\PBS March 23, 12
\BACKUPSET\2012_03_23\O1_MF_ANNNN_TAG20120323T050002_7PRLFJ36_. BKP
Today, 3/28, ran my work of simple deletion: delete NOPROMPT obsolete;
Now, 2012_03_23\O1_MF_ANNNN_TAG20120323T050002_7PRLFJ36_. BKP no longer exists.
Not all the files backup for 3/23 have been removed, only a small number.
But why is any file 3/23 get deleted when the recovery window is 12 days?
Of course, I'm afraid that my RMAN backups is perhaps not valid.
Is that what someone did this experiment with RMAN on Windows?
Thanks for all the ideas. JohnBACKUP VALIDATE... will not check your backups already taken.
To do this, you need to run VALIDATE BACKUPSET or RESTORE VALIDATE that will search all the backup files needed to do a restore.Restoration of points must be created manually, so it's ok your results, if you have not created a.

Satellite A100: some files are missing when copying DVD on the desktop
Hello
Suppose I have 1000 files on a DVD.
I drag all these files in the desktop, all of a sudden I see this is 920 files.
If some files are missing.What this may be?
There are no errors. I don't think that something is wrong.
I initially thought maybe hidden files are counted in the DVD, but not on the desktop?
Maybe something on the desktop?Anyone have any ideas? I tried to put it on 'To see the hidden files' - it's a Toshiba A100.
I just ran a scan antivirus on this file and it let's say 1500 files analyzed.
Haha. Antivirus but probably scanned all etc. desktop.ini and Thumbs.db.
.. And maybe Windows Vista now have those when you want to display the number of files? -
I've set up a website in Muse. Any excerpt from fine to preview in a browser. When I download the file to make it live I am getting this error some files on the server may be missing or incorrect. Clear the cache of the browser, and then try again. If the problem persists, please contact Web site author. Art seems to be fine and the host site says it's probably coding error. What should I do?

Hello
I'm nologging operations + deleting some files in the primary and you want to roll forward the day before using the incremental backup Yvert.
I do in particular, as the files are dropped?
I got to meet ( Doc ID 1531031.1 ) which explains how to roll forward when a data file is added.
If I follow the same steps, to make the move to restore the data file newly added, will it work in my case?
Can someone please clarify?
Thank you

I was wondering if reocover noredo is performed before restored controlfile, oracle will apply the incremental backup error-free files, and in this case, what would be the status of the data file in the control file.
Why do you consider to retrieve the day before first and then in the restaurant of the controlfile will lead to problems. Please read my first post on this thread - I had clearly mentioned that you would not face problems if you go with the method of deployment.
Here is a demo for you with force logging is disabled. For the first time the day before resuming and restored then the controlfile ensures:
Primary: oraprim
Standby: orastb
Tablespace DataFile of MYTS is removed on primary:
SYS @ oraprim > select force_logging in the database of v$.

Currently the tablespace is to have 2 data files.
SYS @ oraprim > select file_name in dba_data_files where nom_tablespace = 'MYTS;

/U01/app/Oracle/oradata/oraprim/myts01.dbf
/U01/app/Oracle/oradata/oraprim/myts02.dbf
