  • The authorized lists ordinate more high numbers in Roman numerals is 3999.

    This isn't a question, but a tip for Firefox users.

    When the use of Roman numerals (upper and lower), the largest number that a user will see as a Roman numeral is 3999. I think that it is because the number of 4000 in Roman numerals include a highlight. For those who might have really long ordered lists using Roman numerals, once your 4000 hits list, will be end Roman numerals and Arabic numerals will be either (the numbers we use today).

    I don't see a way to format the text in this post to show an example of the highlighting.

    I'm not enough common sense to go diving in the Firefox code to make Roman numerals above show 3999 correctly in ordered lists, but someone else might.

    Update: I tried to send some sample code, but he was swept away.

    Here is a demo for reference page: http://jsfiddle.net/491uj8jq/

    I think 4000 would be MMMM kind that seems simple to display. My guess is that it's one of those things somebody thought it should never be.

  • Pages how to used the Roman numerals of the page numbers?

    Hello, I have a MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, end 2012) Version OS X El Capitan 10.11.3. I am a PhD student and my Advisor requires that I use Roman numerals to number my pages, instead of regular numbers. However when I click on the lower right to insert numbers, I am not given the choice of Roman numerals. I'd appreciate if someone could give me instructions on how to do it. Thank you.

    It is always useful to mention both your current OS X version and the specific version of Pages in use.

    Assuming that you have little flavor of Pages v5, once you have inserted your page number you described, then click Document in the toolbar, and then select the tab of the Section. Among the formats in the selector Page numbering is Roman numerals.

  • Sorting in Roman numerals

    I submit a portfolio with an annex table of contents, and I want to enumerate the different pens with Roman numerals.
    In the folder, I named each file and headed of the said title with its Roman numerals appropriate.
    My problem is that if I sort by name, IIX and IX keep sorting alphabetically before V, VI, VII and VIII.

    Can anyone recommend a solution?

    Thank you-
    Dave.

    You will always have an alphabetical sort if you use characters of the alphabet. If you can bear to rename all the files of your schedule, use the Unicode code for numerals points - then they will sort romanumerically up to XII. Beyond that, you must use two characters, so 'III' to 13 ' X' would be sort before "XII" for 12, but ' XII "I ' would sort after him. If you have more than 12 but less than 20, you can use double as characters ' X "I '... ' X 'IX' to 11-19. Then use your imagination after that.

    I don't know how to enter Unicode characters directly in a dialog shell, unless the input language is a multibyte as Chinese. But you can copy and paste from an application that understands them. I used Wordpad to type the first twelve Roman numerals, which are U + 2160 - U + 216. It must first enter the hexadecimal code, then press Alt - X to convert the four hexadecimal digits to a single Unicode character. You will only see them if you put in shape with a Unicode fonts, such as Arial Unicode MS. Then copy a character and a paste to rename, or in a registration in box.

  • How to get Roman numerals in TOC

    Hello

    I ran into a wall of bricks wrt numbering.

    I have a page (no number), followed by a table of contents (necessity to Roman numerals) and chapters (Arabic numerals).roman numerals.PNG

    I would like to than the numbering on the cover in Roman numerals.

    The workflow that I am following to do this is the following:

    Select the page.

    Go to the Layout - numbering and section options

    In the dialog box, direct my attention to 'Document chapter numbering' and in the 'Style' drop select Roman numerals.

    I was wondering if you could help me clarify where im going wrong here.

    The screenshot of my workflow is attached.

    Thank you

    Ashim

    It seems that you configure this as a single file, not multiple files in an InDesign book file? If so:

    Guessing that you want to count the cover page, but not to see a number he...

    1. Click right on page 1 (or if I guessed wrong on page 2) > numbering and Section Options
    2. Start numbering pages at 1, Style: i, ii, iii, iv
    3. Right click on the first page of the first chapter > numbering and Section Options

      If you actually have a book with multiple InDesign documents, you manage the numbering in the book panel menu, using the same steps:

      When you generate the table of contents, he'll get the numbering style used on the pages.

  • How to get the page numbers of the tiny Roman numerals?

    OK, easy...

    Using InDesign CC 2014.

    I created page numbers by:

    • create a text box on the Master Page, which is big enough for any size page number... it's in the head of the race
    • Type > insert special character > markers > current Page number

    I put the page numbers in the preliminary pages to lowercase Roman numerals:

    • Numbering and Section Options
    • Page numbering > Style > i, ii, iii, iv...
      • Confirmed (list drop-down box, i, ii, iii, iv... is checked)

    The problem is that in the head of the race, the sheets are capital letters: I, II, III, IV... (In the text section, folios switch back to Arabic numerals, OK. And on the preliminary pages, opening pages, where I use a folio of gout, it is tiny Roman.)

    How can I fix this?

    Can you share just this page (delete content) as an .indd file so that we can watch. You can use dropbox.com or similar and post the link here.

    Edit: when you select the marker, what the police does show?

  • page numbers automatically in Roman numerals

    Can I use a space reserved number auto-page on a master page and fill the pages with Roman numerals? It would be for a part of a book before. I need to create an InDesign book, and not a regular document to do this? Layout > numbering Options and the menu item is grayed out, outside, in the document. (InDesign CS3, Mac).

    A document may have several styles of numbering: I II III IV A B C D 9 10 11 12

    For this example, you need to request a new section on the first page of the RFSO and apply the Style: Roman and start a pagination to 1

    Then, you need to request a new section to the fifth page of the RFSO and apply the Style: Alpha and start a pagination to 1

    Then you must apply a new section to the ninth page of the doc and apply the Style: Arabic and start a pagination to 9

    You can use the page layout > Options section of numbering to set styles for the entire document

    You can access the Sections of the Panel flyout page numbering Options, have the page highlighted in the side of the page, then make your choice.

  • After you add the Arabic language to my preferences, the numbers always appear in Roman numerals on everything except for microsoft office. How to do it so I can type in Arabic characters and numbers in all places, not just office?

    Already, I've added the Arabic language pack.
    He works in the office, just anywhere else.

    follow-up: I've created a KLC which actually works since Microsoft KLC does not work with the Arabic characters and Hindi digits on the same layout.

    I composed the automatic installer that microsoft allows you to make and downloaded on my website at: http://ryanglynn.com/2010/12/06/arabic-keyboard-layout-finished-programming/

    All the characters and Arabic numerals will work with win7 on this KLC. The installation is simple. Just open it and run the .exe

  • Grep search for Roman numerals

    Hi, Indesigners...

    Can someone help me with a grep search to get all the numerals in a text?

    Thank you

    Maria

    You can search for \b[ivxclm]+\b, which translates as "any whole word which consists of one or one of the ivxclm of letters", which corresponds to i, vi, xli, but he also mic and vix. So make only the interactive search and replacements.

  • FM 10 - How to set up the Roman numeral page numbers in the preface?

    I want to use the Roman numeral page numbers in the preface, but normal numbers in the document (not the book).  How can I set up a "first pages" section for the Roman numerals?  Using FM 10

    I master the basics of the (and more) of Adobe FM 10, by Janet Underwood, but don't find anything in there that helps.

    Yours, Earle Fox

    Do the preface of a separate in the book file. In the book window.

    Right click on the file of the preface and choose numbering. On the Page tab.

    First Page # 1 value and Format "Roman (xiv)." Click on define.

    If you after the chapters where you also want to use the Roman

    numbering, click 'continue Page numbering in previous book.

    button instead.

    To return to normal of the numbering, choose the first file and the value

    First Page # 1 and the Format to "Numeric" (14) Set the following to files

    'Continue the numbering from the previous Page in the book.'

    Parameter page numbers for the books in the book window usually gives better

    the results, but you can also configure it for each document, from the inside of the

    document. (Format > Document > numbering), then, using the book window

    dialing, assign each file read file in the tab of the page.

  • view the Roman numeral page number

    Is it possible to create a form field that will display the page number in Roman numerals and an increment of a number on each of the following pages? If anyone knows of a script that will do it I would be very happy.

    Yes, it is possible. Create a single text on each page field by using this code in the custom code:

    Event.Value = romanize(event.target.page+1);

    Then place this function at the level of the doc (I didn't write this one):

    function romanized (num) {}

    If (! + num)

    Returns false;

    var numbers = String(+num).split(""),

    key = ["","C", "CC", "CCC", "CD", "D", "DC", "DCC", "DCCC", "CM",]

    "', 'X', 'XX', 'XXX', 'XL', 'L', 'LX', 'LXX',"LXXX","XC"

    "", "I", "II", "III", "IV", 'V', 'VI', 'VII', 'VIII', 'IX'], "

    Roman = ""

    I have = 3;

    While (i)-

    Roman = (key [+ digits.pop () + (I * 10)] |) "") + Roman; "

    Return Array (+ digits.join ("") + 1) .join ("M") + Roman;

    }
