Same time multi-user?

If I connect two sets of keyboards, mice and monitors to a single PC, can two users at the same time, use a running Win7 and one with Ubuntu?

If so, I guess that is run directly on the host operating system.

Can be used for 3 users? 4? What is the limit/equipment needs for this kind of use.

... Data access: if each user has its own operating system, it has its own system of files and data. No security problem...

I don't know the guest OS security.  I mean the security of the host computer if a 'boy' to start the computer and you're not with us, but the keyboard and mouse config gets messed up.  The 'kid' needs access to VMware Workstation to get the USB menu, which means that they now have access to the files on the host computer.  So my example of password protecting individual files/folders and not relying on the main logon password.

Audio can be done with the USB sound cards.  This brings us then to the question of the enough USB ports, which can mean the USB PCI card, and then you have enough PCI slots.  And my previous point that all this extra material is adding up.  You need to analyze if you really save that much $$$ by doing low-end all-in-one compared to individual machines.  Imagine the 'kid' play a clip from YouTube or some other videos Flash the CPU of pigs and bog down other users.  (Or worse, WoW).  What have you really reduce other than the power supply casing, motherboard,?   The user third need a video card given that most of the cards can manage only 2 monitors.  (Or fourth user, if you also use integrated graphics).  But once again you have enough PCI slots for cards USB, you need to add?  Or had the intention of getting a ka-zillion USB hubs?  That could restrict you the transfer of large files to USB hard drives because you share the USB bandwidth.  (Oops, Bobby accidentally bumped the power cord on the hub, external hard drive of disconneting Becky, while she wrote the disk.  Now, the reader is corupt and must redo its homework.  Dad!  And now Wifey says it cannot open the tax files!  )

This thing 'multi-user' was found several years without virtualization.  You have added a PCI card that gave you a monitor, keyboard, mouse connection.  The cost was a little high (~ $300 per unit) and you always had to deal with things like limited hard disk space, (then add the cost of additional hard drives), buy additional audio cards, slowing the host when a users inadvertently ran something CPU intensive, or system crash, forcing a restart of all, etc. , etc, etc.  It was all without adding any of the limitations of virtualization so much questions that I'm pointing out have nothing to do with the 'maturity' of virtualization.  It's the limitations inherent in a shared PC project.  My cousin was a librarian at an elementary school and investigating such a system.  Finally, as the PCs are down less than $1,000, it was considered as more sensible and easier to maintain (aka less specialized technical knowledge) for parts 'standards' rather than 'custom' systems, especially when it has been factored into the much higher cost of the consolidated host.  And realize that it was a public elementary school, where the children could do things that 'broken' system, intentional or not.  Now place your orders on the system and see how your children will plant your configuration when they are Torrenting or YouTubing, despite your repeated warnings not to do that. (Because we know that children always to listen to their parents.)

Therefore, if the number very restricted users "of trust", which is fine.  But the point is to go through all the theoretical scenarios.  So even if you have to allocate hardware devices, so in a multiuser system is always a number very limited situations.  Like I said, theoretically possible.  Practical but only up to a point.

    To perform the pieces at the same time, the user must have CREATE JOB system privilege.

    A solution could be to move the multi-threading for outside of the database and use the multi-threads of something like Java or C capabilities. You can even do it using the command or a shell script, depending on your environment, but it could be a bit annoying. Overall, the simplest solution would be to convince that the DBA is to authorize the use of a feature standard and well understood by the database called the Planner, rather than circumvent their authority by using external multi-thread techniques.

    I have a time capsule 2 TB and do not use the time machine function. Instead, I use it as a hard drive and a WIRELESS router. Now, I have a problem: my Macbook pro has 2 user profiles, but I can't use the drive of the time share at the same time capsule.     You should run Disk Cleanup in each user account. Do not try to shut it down or change user when defragmentation; system files may be damaged. You must stop the defragmentation, log off, restart the defragmentation and don't really no point for it. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

    Frankly, the current capacity of OCR in Acrobat is not designed for industrial power, such as 500 + documents scanned page work. The OCR function will need to be substantially updated to be a multithreaded and use multiple cores. It would also probably a version of Acrobat 64-bit Windows due to OCR address space requirements.

    In the meantime, if your document management needs include large amounts of work OCR PDF files, make you want to explore third-party solutions, stand alone or even Acrobat plug-ins server programs that can meet your requirements.

    I have install Server2.0 for test and I must say that the web interface is a pretty cool idea. The main idea is to use the test environment 2.0 ina, which means that users will not be permanently connected to the virtual machine, but must be there they would go on some virtual OS that is not available in physical machines.

    The test I did was to install 2.0 in a DC 2003 server. Even if he told me that it wasn't good option to install on DC I went come just for test purposes. Everything works very well. I created a user and given the permitions restricted in order just to use the VM and not apply the changes to this.

    Then I added 2 virtual machines and I started one and start using it... Can I access the server 2.0 from somewhere else on the network and having the same user (or even with the diferent user) I started the machine VM for Sami. Now I have 2 users, access to the vmimage from different places and now the problem, is that both control the same vm in the same session... which means that I can't have 2 users working in the same image at the same time.

    On the gmx those who can't... I can access the vmconsole (even with the same user) and images (with the same user) access location diferent.

    Is it normal to work? Does perform a work around? Anyone with the same problem?

    Just give users their own virtual machines - you can grant permissions such that a user cannot access another user.

    I develop a report with the financial report and I want to set a default value for a dimension in the POV for all users. Because when I set a POV on my report it apply only to the user that I use for preparing the report. Other users connect to this report, it sets a default value of values other than the values that I have set myself. I tried to use a form of POV. It applies to the POV, I'm set for all users, but I am able to work with a grid at the same time.

    The ManageUserPov.properties will only fix the POV for one or more users at a specific point in time. As soon as a user opens a report and changes of this POV, then it is lost.

    I know what you're trying to do, but I don't think that there is a way to apply the kind of logic that you hope.

    There is a way of (or certainly used to be a way of) hardcode the POV in the report URL. I am sure that this worked when prior workspace Hyperion financial reports used to have its own web client. It's thinking is the basis of the road that linked the statement of work, that's why I suggested that you look at. You could try to find a way to open the report by substituting the POV by using this hard-coding in the URL or go with my original plan of hard coding a "landing page" type report with your default POV and then use reports related to take the user following a report in which they can change the POV as they wish.
