  The new Toshiba notebooks seem to be delivered with the image of Toshiba HDD.
  This means that Vista and all the other drivers, tools and utilities are already preinstalled on the HARD drive and the image is placed on another partition.

  I am the owner of a Toshiba Satellite A300-1LI, operating system Windows 7 Ultimate edition. I connect to the laptop with my Bravia KDL-40W4500 and the video is ok but the audio didn't come from the laptop not the TV.

  When I had Windows Vista everything worked well. I downloaded the drivers to control HDM for W7 (2.0.0.1) but still does not work.

  Have you changed any settings in the sound properties of playback devices?
  I have a BRAVIA 32 LCD TV and I tested with A300-1LI and Satellite A500-157.

  With two laptops, it works well but not with the default settings. What I did is to enter the playback devices and I disabled all listed devices it except HDMI digital output device.
  To do this and start an audio or video file, and check again.

  Please let me know if it works for you.

  I just installed XP on my A300, the installation went well, until I updated the BIOS to to 1.7. After that, the touchpad is irrespeonsive, which means that it is displayed in the Device Manager, but does not.

  I tried the Fn + F9 key and after a long driver Hunt, I decided to re - install Windows XP, to locate where the problem was.

  I also tried resetting the BIOS by default, but once again, without a bit of luck.

  The touchpad still does not work.

  Is there a possibility to downgrade the BIOS?

  What model is your laptop?
  Almost all cell phones of the A300 are WXP supported and I can not imagine that the update of the BIOS can kill touchpad. It's very strange.

  I recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my Toshiba Satellite A300 - 1 L 0 and load all the drivers and updates from the support site. Today, I bought a HDMI cable and connected my laptop to my LCD 32 ". But I can't get rid of the bars ~ 1 inch wide black around the screen image. The resolution adjusts to the px 1920 x 1080 (full HD) px.

  I've heard that I should check the "overscan" which should be adjustable in the menu-ATI Catalyst - but although I just reinstalled the ATI Suite (from the support page) I can not launch Setup Catalyst...

  Someone at - it an idea how to solve this problem?

  I have connected my laptop to external monitor using a HDMI cable and I chose the external monitor option but I got the same black frame.
  Then I chose the TV and the frame rear didn t appear, but the image quality was not good. After a long investigation, I bought HDMI-DVI cable, and it was the key.
  I connected the cable to the monitors DVI port and the image didn't appear and display quality was awesome.

  I'll have some real problems share my media with my Xbox 360 using my home wireless network.

  I used to connect my 360 to the internet via internet sharing with my laptop connected via Ethernet. I now borrow a wireless adapter for the 360 that still lets connect me to the internet on the 360, but I can no longer access my portable music library or find a PC Windows Media Centre when searching for the network on my 360.

  My laptop is running Windows 7 64 bit. When I display 'network' appears from my own laptop, my second laptop computer connected to the network is also shown, and the 360 is also indicated in the devices section of media. Under 'Options of Streaming Media' my 360 is also listed and given full access to my portable media.

  When my laptop is connected directly to my 360 via Ethernet the music library and video library works great, like Windows Media Center.

  Anyone know of any solution to this problem? I guess it will just be a problem with some settings on my laptop as opposed to a problem with my Xbox. Any advice much appreciated!

  Anyway, if everything works with the LAN cable, you should check the firewall options. Try turning off the Windows Firewall and update the driver WLAN from your laptop.

  I just got a brand new A300-1The for my work.

  Because we need to install XP and not Vista, I formatted the beast.

  After a long afternoon chasing all the drivers, it seems that I always have problems.
  When I initiate a transfer of files between the two discs or from the local network, cpu load goes up at abnormal rates (50%-70%).

  I suspect that there is a problem with the disk controller
  Now, to make the installation work, I had to go into the BIOS and set the controller SATA to "compatibility".

  I don t think that your HARD drive would be responsible for the higher CPU usage.
  What you could do is to start the Task Manager while file transfer and could check what process or application stresses the CPU.

  I think that this is a possibility to find out what causes this high CPU usage.

  The new HARD drive is a SATA HDD and it's the most important thing.
