  I just bought a camera from microsoft as my other older version Trust webcam is not compatible with Windows 7. I would probably have no problems with a Microsoft webcam? Fake!

  Whereas before on Vista, my faithful trust webcam worked well on yahoo messenger, I find now that I can get my Webcam - file - Preferences - settings of the device, click device settings, but only shows the camera controls exposure. All other options on the camera controls are grayed out, including Zoom, I've always used on my Toshiba Vista laptop previous. Very frustrating!

  Why using an external webcam If your laptop is already equipped with a webcam? AFAIK all L500 models have such a built-in webcam.

  In my opinion, you should try the internal one. I m sure its functioning with your Messenger, I have also the webcam internal to Skype without any problem. :)

  I have a laptop Satellite A300-1NO, with Win 7 installed. My problem is that my webcam does not work always, when I want to use it.   I put t think there is solution for this. If I understand you right there is a problem with software pre-installed. It is not easy to say why this is happening.

  I have Satellite A300 too and use it with Win7 32 bit. Webcam works fine all the time.

  One more thing: have you noticed this problem in the first moments after installing Win7 or later?

  BIOS-> Advanced-> Configuration-> webcam system
