Satellite M30-106: no power

everything was fine until yesterday. laptop was plugged into a power outlet, working as usual. next thing I noticed that I only have 3% battery life left, which seems strange it is connected to the power supply. then he told me that the battery life is critical and move to food immediately to save losing my job

so I made sure the plug is lit and not work, I tried another outlet, checked all connections and son and they seem well, check the fuse in the plug and tried a new just in case. still no luck. Then, the laptop is dead...

It was unexpectedly and I had not touched or dropped something

now, when it is plugged into a power outlet, there is no lights on the forehead as he used to be. I managed to turn on the laptop this morning, on what battery life little there was left. He lit as usual, I've connected, went online etc so the laptop itself seems to be in good working condition

any ideas what the problem is and his cause may be? What should I do next? should I try and borrow a replacement power lead and gives a go?

Thank you, chris :)

Hello

Maybe the battery is empty and only your adapter is empty and therefore does not start the laptop.

Check if the power light is on when the power adapter is connected.
If the LED is not activated then it possible s HQ doesn t adapter provides power for the laptop.

In my opinion this should be verified first!

See you soon

    Hello.

I have a problem with my Satellite M30-106. One day, the system froze (Windows XP with SP2) during the passage of the machine off. I was forced to keep the button "power" for a while in order to close the system. However, since all 3 USB ports do not work.

The system does not recognize the "" them. I can't see in Device Manager. I tried to reinstall the system, but it did not help.

Can someone help me, pelase =)

    Hello

It looks like a hardware problem. At whatever it is connected to the USB ports at the time? Could you check the USB ports visually and see if they are damaged or wobbly. It is a bit of a long shot, but you may have a short circuit decision and which could disable the USB.
If the motherboard is damaged then outside fixing/replace your only option would be a PCMCIA USB card, they are not expensive.

  • Success story on the installation of hard drive of 160 GB to a Satellite M30 106

    Hello

I upgraded my Satellite M30-106 with a 160 GB HDD and it works brilliantly. The hard drive I bought is disc Hitachi 5 K 160 PMR - my only worry was bios (someone suggested he can not see) but it went smooth. I have no worry about power because the new takes less energy (it runs faster however). I have not noticed any hitch or any strange behaviour and I admit to more than a month now and it has been widely used.

PS. Sorry to start a new thread, but man, it has been locked.
PS2. I also brought up my memory some time ago to 1 GB - kingston value ram has been around - this laptop doesn't seem to be too fussy about memory.

Man, it's good, because one of my friends was about to publish a thread about upgrading its M30 because he didn t know if a disk over big then 100 Gig will go into his machine.

Well, I must say thank you for your experience posted here. :)

  • Upgrade CPU on Satellite M30 106

    Hi people

    Could with help please?

Just got an old Toshiba Satellite M30-106, a few weeks ago and [to be fair] it works OK with xp on it. I bought another 2 gig DDR which brings speed wise difference, but I can move the processor to the Intel® Pentium® M processor 725 1.60 GHz FSB: 400 MHz, 2: 2 MB level cache that s in there earlier?

Can she take a CPU more high if so what s the highest? Would be very graciously tips please.

    Thanks in advance...

At first, I must say that I agree with you that this laptop will work with Windows XP Home edition. At least this laptop model is designed for Windows XP Home edition. ;)

I found some info on the processors on Satellite M30:
+ The Satellite M30 computer is equipped with a processor Intel Banias who +.
    + integrates mathematical co-processor, memory 64 KB of L1 cache and a 1 MB L2 cache.
+ memory. The processor works with one of the following speeds: +.
    + Processor Intel Banias 1.40 GHz (1.35v) / 1.20 GHz (0.85V) +.
    + Processor Intel Banias 1.50 GHz (1.35v) / 1.20 GHz (0.85V) +.
    + Processor Intel Banias 1.60 GHz (1.35v) / 1.20 GHz (0.85V) +.
    + Processor Intel Banias 1.70 GHz (1.35v) / 1.20 GHz (0.85V) +.

Then maybe you can use the fastest processor 1.70 GHz. I don't think you'll see the difference.
Best thing you can do is upgrade RAM to max and optimize Windows XP Home pre-installed, and you will be happy with this good old classic.

Anyone know where I can download or buy a recovery for my Satellite M30-106 disc?
My striped child mine up to hell and back and he won t work either :-(

    Regards Wayne

Satellite M30 is old enough laptop model and I don't think that to do this, you can order a Toshiba recovery media.
What you can try is to contact the nearest authorized maintainer and ask for help.
Addresses and phone numbers, you will find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > download & support > find an ASP.

Otherwise you can use the CD of Microsoft facilities for the installation of Windows XP Home edition. Download page for all drivers & tools Toshiba utilities that you can download from Toshiba. Your laptop is listed in the archives.

    Hello
hope someone can help im having headache with my Satellite M30-106 problems

I can connect to the internet via ethernet, but once I delete it does not connect via radio. I am trying to connect to a router broadband Sagem sky but for some reason any he just not going, when I open wireless connections, I can see the projection of router as safe but just cannot connect.

I would also like to point out I am very new on wireless and to be honest, I don't know what im doing please give me advice in simplistic terms you can so I can be sure I understand where im going wrong

    Regards wayne

    Hello

If you try to connect to your router, you will ask for a password or what exactly is going on?

Maybe you should try to update your laptop WLAN driver. You can find it on the Toshiba site:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online downloads support & -online Download Driver

Also make sure you use the same WiFi standard that you have configured on the router, for example 802.11 g.

What operating system do you use? Have you installed all service packs and patches?

  • Satellite M30 - cannot install Power Saver on XP SP3

I got my Satellite M30 to the computer store where they have reinstalled XP pro SP3 without my Toshiba restore CD

They have installed the drivers from Toshiba for some things, but not "Toshiba Power Saver'.
I downloaded and extracted the exe 'Toshiba power saver' for the M30 and it will not be implemented.

Then, I downloaded "Toshiba common modules" and "Toshiba Utilities" and have the same problem with those.

All extracted, but nothing happens when I click on setup.exe.

    What I am doing wrong?
    Any help much appreciated

In my opinion it s for a problem with your system and not with the Toshiba tools and utilities the fact is that the other might install.

So the problem could be your SP3.
It is only a hypothesis, but you should check this.
Install only the operating system Win XP, SP2 and then try to install the drivers of Toshiba, tools and utilities in the right order!

Check if the latter won't work.

Y at - it an option to load the default settings of the BIOS on your laptop? If so, try it.

Can't think right now that can generate this error unless you have recently
had a new device that is STILL attached to a USB port (USB drive, printer, etc.)

    Concerning

    Update:
I had a mistake of swearing to this post. I have found what Word does: "P E N" USB key so I replaced it with USB

  • Satellite M30: Problems install Power Saver - fatal error has occurred

    7.0.0.3 for something Satellite M30.

After setting up, I get a "fatal error occurred. The program took end code ox2.

    Any ideas on whats wrong?

    Hello

I put t know exactly what's wrong, but I remember these problems might appear if the drivers, tools, and utilities are installed in the correct order.
The installation instructions document is no doubt placed on the page of the Toshiba driver.
I recommend that you check these documents

But why you don t use the Toshiba Recovery CD. This CD allows you to install the operating system with all the necessary tools and drivers much faster and easier.

  • Upgrade processor for Satellite M30 106

    Hello

I am looking to change the processor in my laptop, but anyone know what is the fastest processor I can use?

    Best regards
    Swarvek

Satellite M30 laptop is very nice. I worked for about 6 months on this laptop. For me the laptop is powerful enough and upgrade the CPU is really not necessary. What you need to do is upgrade of RAM at the level maximum and of course good configuration of the OS.

Can you please tell me what operations run so slow and you want to upgrade CPU on this laptop?

  • Need replacement for Satellite M30 106 keyboard

Anyone of you, wonderful people you will suggest somewhere where I can get a keyboard replacement at reasonable price for my M30-106. So far, cheapest I can find is about A £58. Perhaps there is a yard of circuit breakers for these things?

    All ideas welcome.

    Hello

Don t you have lots of options, since you can choose between:

    -Internet retailer
    -Ebay
    -Service provider authorized (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT)

I would suggest to check first what price the AEP has, then Ebay and then you bite into the sour Apple. :)

    Welcome them

  • Satellite M30 - taken to power on the motherboard is broken

I would buy a new outlet for my main computer Satellite M30, because the internal contact is broken.

The socket has the number 041101.
    Help, please!

    Hello

You can buy all the compatible parts since the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country.
But I guess you'll have to solder this socket on the motherboard and something like that is not very easy

If you have no experience, you should try to contact a technician for this work.

  • Satellite M30-106: the search for upgrading HDD and DVD recorder

    Hello

I was looking for some information about the compatibility of this laptop with new hard disks, but could not find. The reader, I want to buy is PMR Hitachi 5K 160 160 GB.

Second in line for the upgrade is burner DVD-R x 2 which is painfully slow. There is a kind of game of simple checks to do before buy you to avoid buying the incompatible equipment? I know that there should be a list of compatible readers in the manual of my laptop, but there is not, and I believe that records of such a list would be a minor if no improvement at all.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

You want to use the 160 GB HARD drive?
I m not 100% sure but, in my opinion, the BIOS will not recognize this size of HARD drive.
I found this similar thread on the 160 GB HARD drive:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=13584&MessageID=49616

Michael of the user has provided a nice info:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=19153&MessageID=70008
The M30 accept the 80 GB and possibly a 100 GB HARD drive

I discovered that the Toshiba SD-R6112, TEAC G8CC00013210, Matsu * a G8CC00019210 are compatible with your laptop.
Maybe you could googel for simple numbers and you will find more information
