Satellite Pro A210 with Windows7 freeze

I recently installed Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit on my satellite A210. Initially, I had a little problem for all drivers found, but using the hardware ID and go directly to the factory components, I managed so that everything is installed and working. It works like a dream and a hell of a lot faster than the Vista 32-bit Home he came with.

However, I have a problem that I am trying to sort. Everynow, then it just freezes. No blue screen. Everything freezes and then it restarts after a while. It happens especially when I do a lot of work to hard drive, like copy a huge file on the network, or watch a movie or have a large number of open programs using the hard drive. If my guess is that there is something wrong with the hard disk driver or something like that.

There are no Windows 7 drivers yet, and I'm not sure that someone will do for this model because it is more than a year.

Someone at - he had the same thing and found a solution?

It's the A210 - 16G, model PSAELE-01T0072A.
..

You are right about the drivers. Yet Toshiba doesn t offer drivers for Win7.
Drivers Beta that you can find on the Toshiba U.S. page under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp

To be honest I don't think that Toshiba will offer Win7 drivers for your laptop model. It's pretty old model and I think that it will be available only for A300. In any case, I'm glad to hear that Win7 works well on this model of laptop. If you have time, it will be nice if you can inform the other owners A210 where you found the necessary drivers.

How much RAM is in your laptop?
Perhaps improved RAM, max level?

I have a new Satellite Pro A210 with downgrade to XP.
I have a problem with the USB. When I plug a USB device, for example. camera or a flash drive I get the usual sound of a USB device is connected but no folder appears and the device does not appear in my computer, or disconnection of the usb device icon at the bottom right of your desktop. When I unplug the device I get the sound of the disconnection.

The Toshiba PC diagnostic tool tests the USB also ok.

It has been produced since I first got the computer.
I've since updated to the latest version of the bios and use windows update to upgrade to service pack 3 and all other updates available, the problem is always the same.

    Any ideas?

    You have mapped network drives?

Sometimes readers in network can hide removable drives such as USB keys.

If you start while the USB is connected, it must assign a letter from reader properly.

  • Satellite Pro A210 - repeat vertical lines on the screen

I hope someone can help me.

I am a teacher and was bought by my school a Toshiba Satellite Pro A210 for me to do my school work and connect to a SMART board to teach with. Throughout its probably one of the best laptops I got through school. I got it two months.

There is only one problem with it. Its developed a rather weird problem. Occasionally, the screen suddenly freezes, and the display will be replaced by thin, alternating vertical black and white lines. The only way to get rid of them is to turn off the laptop and restart it (particularly annoying when it happened in the middle of a lesson when I've been respected by an OFSTEd Inspector!)

Technician computer school has no idea what is the cause. I was wondering if someone here might have some advice.

    Thanks in advance.

I ve the same laptop but I didn t receive similar lines on the screen.
What you could do is update the BIOS and the driver (if possible) display.

If the same problem happens again, you must connect an external monitor to the laptop.

Then check if the same lines appears on the external display. If so, then a problem of graphics card might be possible!

  • Satellite Pro A210 restart

    Hello

It's my first time here posting and I could really use your help. I have a satellite pro a210 and me went to answer a phone call and it ran out of power and now he turns not again. I tried to take out the battery and hold the power button to drain it and then go back to the top and holding F8, F12, told me press and hold the back key while rebooting (all tried).

Tried with battery and battery attached but nothing worked with the power cable. It has been like that for a few months and I'm out of ideas.

If someone had a similar problem and knows a solution that would be great.

What happen exactly when you press the power button / stop? Is there a reaction?

  • Satellite Pro A210 PSAFHE: need new HARD drive compatible

    Hello

Jealous of my relationship with my Tosh laptop - my wife - angry of stupidity, decided to slam closed
    OOPS, it no longer works.

After cooling down - she did not apologize, BUT said she would pay for the repair.

After investigation, I feel it may be the hard drive - I have re-installed from master disks and it worked sort of--even allowed to install aol.
AND he then stopped loading - hearing closely it seems to be looking for the hard drive to complete the load.
    It's a Toshiba Satellite Pro A210 IB1 model PSAFHE - 00800PEN and has a Hitachi hd
    HARD DRIVE: 5K 250-160
    Model: HTS542516K9SA00 5 v DC 700mA 160 GB SATA 5400 RPM

I can't seem to find one anywhere - tried to contact Toshiba to know what would be appropriate replacements - picking the winning lottery numbers would be easier to get through Toshiba. So I thought I would try the forums.
In my opinion, it's the hard drive BUT as a mere mortal, I could be wrong - all advice would be appreciated.

Please tell us what drives fit
    concerning

    Hello

It seems that the laptop supports a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.
As the controller SATA HDD has no limitation, all SATA 2.5 hard drives should be compatible.

If you want, so you can choose a 250GB 2.5 SATA HDD THAT and normally it should work as part of your laptop.

  • Satellite Pro A210 PSAFHE - Windows 7 - crashes after the sleep/hibernation

I have a PSAFHE Satellite Pro A210 running dual boot Windows XP/7
With the help of Windows 7 - 32 or 64 - system always crashes after sleep/hibernate mode.
This never happens with XP that sleeps and hibernates OK...
There is no driver for this laptop on site http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
I like system 7 and use it on my other computers but without sleep/hibernate, I go back to XP.

    Hello

    > There is no driver for this laptop on site http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

    Sorry, mate, but you're wrong.
All drivers for Win 7 for Satellite Pro A210 are available on the European driver of Toshiba page that I recommend you check out once again

Given that this question does not appear using Win XP, I can say with certainty that this has nothing to do with the material, but it s a software related issue
I recommend updating the graphics card driver

In addition, there is a new BIOS for Satellite Pro A210 PSAFHE it s v2.0
Check if you are using the latest version

  • Satellite Pro A210 - recover the HARD internal disk

Happy new year guys – love the active forum community!

My Satellite Pro A210 dead spectacular a few months back and being out of warranty, I did my best to fix it - diagnosis I think has a faulty motherboard (No bios loading, no start-up through external boot disks/drives) and if I do regular backups, there are always a few files that get missed so connected the HARD drive to another PC to find the HARD drive died in that it is not even turn.

Is it possible, even bother to try to change the circuit printed out the HARD drive, like-for-like, or is the circuit "listens" on the disc (even if it could lead to another Board blown) or what are my options to get the HARD drive looked at and repaired, at what price?

Sorry if this is a stupid question

    Hi bearoon,

This means you want to replace the Control Board on the underside of the HARD drive itself?

Well, theoretically it of possible, but note: you can only replace it with a Board of 100% same HARD drive. If you use it from another HARD disk you can destroy the HARD drive and everything on it always makes not readable so it s sensitive technique.
So before of you exchange it make sure that the model numbers of the two HARD drives are 100% identical.

I've never done this on 2.5 portable hard drives but a few years ago I did it on my drive HARD 3.5 from desktop and it worked and so I was able to recover my data. The reason was that t wasn't HDD spinning up more (totally dead) and the problem was the faulty Control Board.

  • Satellite Pro A210-SP6811 cannot install XP - it stop installing

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A210-SP6811 with AMD M690V chipset and I am trying to install Windows XP SP3, but during the first part of the installation it stop by itself.

I tried to install Windows 7 and everythings fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Hello

You can try to change the mode of the SATA controller in the BIOS from AHCI compatible mode.
This would install Win XP without including the SATA drivers.

Otherwise, you will need to add SATA drivers if you want to use the AHCI mode.
Notes; There are a lot of discussions in this forum about the SATA drivers and how to install win XP using the search function of the Forum!

    Good luck

What Satellite Pro A210 you have exactly (A210-xxx)?

  • Turn off the problem on Satellite Pro A210

I'm having a problem with my Satellite Pro A210, running on XP. It seems to turn off without reason. I don't think it's a problem of overheating as it can sometimes after only a few minutes of use, and can stay on the day without problem. It is as if he goes into hibernation, although the blue power light remains on, but cannot be restarted without turning off the power and then walk back.

Someone at - it ideas? Thank you.

  • Satellite Pro A210 1AZ Disk Partitions

    Hello

Hope someone can explain to me. We have two Satellite Pro A210 1AZ identical machines, Windows Vista Home, 120 GB of disk. They have two partitions on the disk in the computer. C: Vista is 56.2 GB and data E: is 54.0 GB. I guess there are other accounts hidden for the missing 10 GB partition and I guess that is the recovery partition.

My problem is the following. Everything written in C:, programs, Documents etc., and it is more or less complete. The E: is not used. Why is there an E: partition? Why not a single 110GB C:?

I know that I can copy files on the E: partition but trying I find annoying. My wife doesn't understand anything on the partitions, folders and files and just wants everything to be where you expect it to be - in Documents or photos. Seems reasonable.

What can I do to get rid of the E: thing and have just a large C:?

NB - I have no interest is messing around with the PC, I want to just use it and forget about it.

    Thank you

    Fred

    Hello Fred

I don't know how much experience you have with the PC, but it is usual to divide the hard driver to two or more partitions. each partition can have a different name and you can save specific data on the specific partition.

For example, I have three partitions:
    C for the operating system
Private D for stuff like photos, movies and mp3 files and
    E for Business stuff

Anyway, if you want to have a (the ability of the entire HARD disk) partition, you can delete second partition and expand the C partition to use any HARD drive capacity.
Open Control Panel > administrative tools > computer management.

In the left pane, under storage category, click on disk management
Now select and right mouse button click on the partition that you want to change.
In the context menu, you will see options to extend, reduce or remove the partition. Select the option you want.
If your 2nd partition is empty, you can remove the 2nd partition, and then expand the 1st partition to use the freed up space.

So to learn more about the bits and bytes please http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/OPT7301UY001JR01.htm

  • Satellite Pro A210 - dead on the screen pixel

    Hello

I bought a laptop Satellite Pro A210 seris.
    Professional Vitsa.

When I first turned it on, I noticed at the same time there is a broken pixel!

The ASP said that unless at least 7 pixals are broken, they won't do anything!

I am now wondering, how long it will be before more pixels don't work more, or if it will stay the same it is to say:
    Just the one pixel?
Anyone know what I can do about it and that it will be just a matter of short time before my monitor goes together?

I would really apprecaite any advice with this, from course I am sure you will understand that I am new to laptops.

Thanks so much for anyone who can give me some info etc. or help with this.

  • Satellite Pro A210-1AZ: what imaging software can I use

    People,

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro A210-1AZ.

It works well, as far as I can tell, but I have a problem with the disk imaging software.
I bought Acronis True Image 11 and it worked OK for Windows, but it wouldn't start in the program of either the Acronis Secure Zone, or starting from the bootable recovery media. (He did start, but the program would not load). Attempt to restore from Windows needs to restart before the process begins, with the result the same, the PC boots, but the program does not load.

Acronis restore successfully to a partition that does not have the 'C', IE System partiton.

I managed to get a refund of Acronis under their warranty of 30 days without any problem.

I tried the software equivalent of Paragon.
Without extensive trials I seem to have the same problem; It won't boot from the recovery media.

Search for clues on the internet was not completely successful, but I'm not alone with the problem, and the feeling seems to be that it is something to do with SATA drives.

I'd give 'Phantom' to try, but I don't want to pay for it and find it does not work and I can't get a refund. I can't find a trial version of it anywhere.

Can someone advise me to partition imaging software which they KNOW works with this model, while booting to restore?

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Kind regards

    Simsybloke

    Hi Matt

I think all professional work of imaging software works on your laptop.
I think that you were not able to boot from the CD image will be created because you didn t includes the necessary Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

All the portable era generation support the SATA controller (because of better performance), and so the laptops with the SATA drives.

The Intel Matrix storage controller includes the SATA driver.

For example; If you want to install XP on this laptop, you must first include the SATA driver using the F6 key during the installation procedure.
Without the driver SATA XP will not see the HARD drive!

I think that the SATA driver is a key.

    See you soon

  • Satellite Pro A210 periodically stop the monitor

Hi, my computer laptop Satellite Pro A210 periodically stop his monitor. I can work now what, whether it seems no matter what I do, the monitor turns off just.
I checked the Device Manager and there is no device showing conflict. I bought the new laptop about six weeks ago and it is very annoying that it does. Anyone had similar problems with their A210?

I contacted Toshiba and I hope that they will be committed to fix my laptop.

    Thank you.

This is very interesting thread because I m the owner of a Satellite A210 with dual OS (Vista and XP) and didn t notice such problem with XP or Vista.

Of course, the screen goes black after a while but this is related to my energy saving settings. I ve set the power of my wide display settings to save power while working on the battery.

I don't know if this could be the reason for your question, but it's certainly an option m.

You can also try to update the BIOS and the graphics driver to check if it would help solve the problem you also.

    Good luck to you
