• ScanJet 4890 cannot scan to PDF (windows vista)

  Recently, I replaced a 6 years Dell Latitude 810 runnung XP pro with a Dell E6520 running Windows 7 64-bit. I installed my Scanjet 4890 using the Windows Vista software and driver (using the compatibility check). I can scan documents to a printer, .jpg, .tif and .gif, but I can't scan to Adobe Acrobat (not an option, I can select). On the 810, I could sweep Acrobat. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thank you.

  I hacked my way to a solution:

  1. place the document in scanjet, connect to the computer, turn on scanjet;

  2 launch the scanjet analysis, NO Office, with (document) at the far left button on the top of the cover of scanjet;

  3. answer questions on the "Scan button scan" window that pops up just:

  -Click on the option button "Document" and one of the 3 color choices;

  -in "Scan to:" dropdown list, choose 'Save to file';

  -in "file type:" drop-down list, choose one of the options PDF.

  -other options can be selected as required;

  4. click on the button "Scan" (lower left corner of the window);

  5 answer questions on the window "Scan to file Save Options button Scan" which has just popped up.

  6. click 'OK' (at the bottom of the window);

  7 analysis program will launch; Navigate as always;

  8. when all documents have been scanned, will find your document in the selected directory 5, above.

  I recently installed anHP DeskjetF4400 All in one printer.  When I click Start then all programs I find fax Windows and function in the menu, or anywhere else that I'm waiting for scan. My impressions of the printer and the scans but I can be used only in Windows Live Photo Gallery. I'm not very fimilliar with computers. Is there something that I need to install, I need a software or I'm just using this bad thing

• Hello, impossible to scan to PC Windows Vista HP w1707 HP Officejet Pro 8600 all-in-one...

  ... and send a scanned to an e-mail document. Copier and fax are fully functional. Computer error does not recognize the printer. They communicate in all directions. Could I miss printer software? Thanks for any help and advice, you should be able to provide. Very much appreciated.

  I solved it. Just reverse procedure. Started with the PC to communicate with the printer and all is going well, rather than having the printer to connect to the computer.

  Thanks for your reply.  It turns out that I needed to download the Officejet 6500 Wireless on my PC software to operate.  I couldn't use the software that was already loaded laptop from my husband, who works in Windows 7.  If I had the software on my desktop computer, your instructions likely would have worked.  I appreciated you taking the time to answer.

• In Windows Vista Home Basic automatic updates, anti virus updates and scans, etc. are not made during the night while the computer is in sleep.

  Using Microsoft® Windows Vista Home Basic Version 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001, I have my computer set up to install updates automatic update and scan with my AVG antivirus 8.5 from one day to the next, while the computer is in sleep. In the morning, when I wake up the computer it alerts me that there are updates available, and I have to click the balloon to install the updates. Meanwhile my anti virus is update solange wake up also. Both are supposed to occur automatically during the night. Shouldn't these scheduled etc. updates works even if the computer is asleep?

  When Vista is in "standby", like updating the activity is suspended.

• When I scan for Windows Vista Service Pack update (published 4/2009) comes in,

  I redid my computer a few months ago restore to factory settings and restore my files from a backup disk. Everything seemed to work properly.  A few weeks ago a full scan found a worm & some virus which I removed. Now, I have a problem with the updates. When I scan for Windows Vista Service Pack update (published 4/2009) arrives.  When I click to install it, it is saying it is correctly installed (in 30 seconds) and yet he continues to come when I'm scanning for updates.    Should I restore settings again?  After looking for info on the forums of windows, I did the System File Checker to check corrupt files.  Several corrupted files appear in the details of the SFC.  But their fixation is "over my head".   I glued the SFC details below. Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you
