Search feature in Safari 2.0

Using Safari 2.0, I opened a WebHelp file generated by a project created in RoboHelp 7.02. I noticed that the button and the search field are missing from the top of the window, and when I click on the 'Search' tab on the left navigation pane, a display index instead.

This is troubling because the search feature is enabled but Index is intentionally disabled in the project properties. I contacted Adobe Support and they recommended the deactivation Section 508 Compliant Output. I never gave him.

The problem appears only in Safari 2.0; in Firefox 3.0 and IE 6.0 and 7.0, the search appears as scheduled.

Any ideas of what could go wrong, or how can I fix? The project requirements specify compliance Safari 2.0 and a fully functional search feature. Ask the customer to switch browsers, or using the index instead of a search is an option.

Ah. You didn't say what Safari on a Mac. It's OK in Safari on Windows, but I can't speak for Macs. I know it was common for research on older Mac not to operate as it does in Internet Explorer on Windows, but to display a list of all the search words, which is what you see, not the index.

  • Cannot use the search feature on the App Store

    Hello

    I have a problem with the search feature in the App Store. This problem only occurs when connected with my Apple ID, everything in the App Store itself works very well. Only when it comes to the search I get an error "the App Store is temporarily unavailable. Try again later. I tried all methods I found online and on Apple's site, including: restarting the unit, check the time and date, iOS is updated, various wireless as well as the 4 G network, signing in and out of the account and App Store refresh method. Unfortunately, nothing has worked so far.

    But if I register the App Store, the search works very well.

    There is clearly something wrong with the App Store.

  • Missing bookmarks in the smart search field in Safari

    Since the release of El Capitan 10.11.6, favorites are missing from the smart search field in Safari to new Windows.  If a Safari any page web (so far), clicking in the search box if poster is Favorites to view icons, as is expected.

    Is this a bug, or can I make some adjustments to bring them new windows?

    Thank you!

    Dick

    Hello Dick Huitema.

    If I understand your message to the right, when you open a new window in Safari, you do not see your favorite icons in the smart search field.  When I use Safari, I always like to have my favorites available and ready to use, so I can understand why you would be tender for assistance with this.

    You probably feel that if Safari is set to open new windows in an empty page. If yours is configured in this way, there is a very easy way to get these favorites icons to show without actually changing any settings. When you open a Web page, you should see a blank webpage with your top search bar and a cursor blinking in the search bar. Instead click inside the search bar right away, click anywhere on the empty Web page and then click on in the empty search bar. You should then see your Favorites icons appear.

    Another option is to set your homepage to your Favorites. You can do it in Safari > Preferences. On the general tab in Safari preferences, select the drop-down menu next to "new windows open with", and then choose favorite. This should ensure that when you open new web pages, all your Favorites icons show immediately. Favorites icons always appear in the smart search field when additional tabs are open as well.

  • Search Google in Safari is slow

    I'm running Safari 9.0.3 with El Capitan 10.11.3 on a new Macbook Pro retina 15 "and have a hard time looking for the Safari address bar. Probably 50 to 75% of the time when I type something in the search bar to search Google, search hangs for a very long time, or just expires. At first I thought that this could be a problem with my home network, but it happens when I travel as well. Going on google and the search are faster, but often Safari crashes after I typed 'google.com '.

    I tried several fixes without result:

    -change the search engine in Safari preferences

    -Disable all my extensions

    -Disable all my plugins

    -Disabling the "Include search engine Suggestions."

    -affecting my DNS DNS OpenDNS & Google

    -disable the DNS prefetching

    -deletion of my story

    -suppression of the ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

    -suppression of the ~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari

    -removal of the preferences of Safari

    If anyone knows something else that might work, I would be very grateful, so far my efforts seem to be worse

    Please start in recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select get online help. It will launch a clean copy of Safari. Some plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in recovery, you do not have access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so take note of those who before, if they are required for the test.

    Test. After testing, restart as usual and display the results.

  • Cannot change the Google search criteria in Safari

    I have a MB Pro OS X El Capitan 10.11.12 running version 2015.  My default search engine is Google.  After the recent update, whenever I'm looking for something in the Apple search bar in Safari, it will bring me to the page of Google results as usual, but if I want to change the search criteria in the search bar (not the Apple search bar), it won't let me.  It won't delete, add, or change the search criteria in the Google search bar in the Web page.

    I tried Yahoo and Bing and both work very well.  I also tried Google on Firefox and it works fine too, there must be something with Safari.

    Any suggestions?  Does anyone else have this problem?

    Ugh! I just figured this out, the simplest thing too.

    There is a dialog box on the google page saying something like "Download Google Chrome" and you can click on the x to close that.  Once you do this, the search bar can be changed again.

  • Windows search feature does not at all.

    Hello

    I've seen many threads similar to this problem, but not the same and after five hours or so of research, I have not found a solution.

    I am running Windows 7 Professional on a HP EliteOne 800 all-in-one PC.  I noticed today that the search feature in the start menu does not work.  If I type something, the start menu is completely empty.  If I click on "See more results", I am greeted by a reading of text box "search query: = [value]" where [value] is what I'm looking for.  For the sake of ease, I searched on cmd.  The body of the box text reads as follows: "Windows cannot find ': search query = cmd'.»  Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. "If I open Windows Explorer and try to pick up from there, yet again, nothing happens, there is absolutely no answer.  It is true that I am to research libraries, a drive or a folder.

    By other threads, I've tried so far running an official fix from Microsoft, I tried to launch the resolution of the problems of indexing tool, disable Windows Search via the control panel > programs and then turn it back on with reboots in the meantime, tried a restore of the system and so far no change.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Thomas,

    Thanks for the update on the issue. This can happen when the research-related services do not work correctly.

    Try to run the fix in the article below and check if it helps.

    1 Select af:query--> Advanced--> connections and bind it to the back bean

    2. in the .jspx add af:link like this:

    3 - runQuerySearchAction should be like this:

      public String runQuerySearchAction()
      {
        QueryDescriptor queryDescriptor = getRichQuery().getValue();
        QueryEvent queryEvent = new QueryEvent(getRichQuery(), queryDescriptor);
        queryEvent.setPhaseId(PhaseId.INVOKE_APPLICATION);

  • The search feature no longer works in any of my projects generated HTML help recently

    I use 10.0.1.292 HR and HR 11.0.4.291 for different projects.

    Recently, I noticed that the search feature returns no result, in one of my projects that are generated in either Rh10 or 11. I just get the message 'no topics found. It's used to work.

    The only thing that was made recently (that I can think of) involved working with the .slp files to fix a problem with the glossary tab and the search functionality in a HR 11 Responsive HTML5 layout. (https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1690579) I, however, do not see how this would break the search functionality in my HTML projects.

    Any ideas?

    In both 10 and 11, HR whenever I generated a project like HTML Help (still an example of project) the search functionality was broken. Finally, when I couldn't think what else to try, I uninstalled and reinstalled 10 HR, and that solved my problem - HR 10 and 11!

    Apparently some file has been corrupted, but I don't know what broke or what caused the corruption. I'm still trying to get clarification from Adobe, but so far, I only received the following comments:

    • The robohelp cache folder and preferences may have caused this.
    • The problem can be either with updates on the system.

    If I should receive any definitive information, I will update this post.

    Thank you.
