search for iPhoto on external drive

I have to set iPhoto to open photos in photoshop as photoshop will not find any iPhoto on an external drive, but is it possible that the bridge will open iPhotos that are on an external drive, then export to photoshop?

Knowing almost nothing about iPhoto I don't know it works with albums and

libraries for previews and not to mention caches than the originals.

You can reach the originals or by pointing to a picture and right

Click the mouse choose show file. This will cause the folder with the original in

the finder. (another shortcut is the point of the mouse to the iPhoto het icon in the)

file picture in the section user and right click the mouse, choose view

content of the package and go to the original folder.)

You can now choose to move or copy the original files to a new created

folder (where you want, but outside the iPhoto library).

When you copy the files that you leave the option to use iPhoto for these files,

When you move you can't edit these files again in iPhoto because she'll say

you the originals are not found.

I prefer to copy because you can now create a back up of your

originals. (therefore, it would be better to use another disk, but it is up

For you

Point Bridge in the newly created folder and you can manage them as you wish

flight you can also consider changing your workflow and import files

Bridge Photodownloader using rather op iPhoto, they are also the

benefits for the Bridge and Photoshop, but also to you

I have to fix iPhoto to open photos in photoshop as photoshop will not find

iPhoto on an external drive, but is possible that the bridge is open

iPhotos that are on an external drive, then export to photoshop?

  • How to search for music on external drive, while in I tunes

I just bought the Mac Mini and have an external hard drive connected with my music on it.   I tried to click on search on iTunes, but could not get to find my music...   What is the best way to locate my music?

The best answer, to more information about your intentions and history. The direct answer is drag media files to the external drive to a blank playlist in iTunes. Of course, this copierait all the files on your internal drive.  The best solution would be to place previous to your new computer. A library is much more than simply a set of media files, however.

  • Please recommend what to look for in an external drive for my Macbook Pro

I don't have a lot of data, but I'm a writer and want a back up of novels and photos and photo projects. Can someone knowledgeable tell me what to look for in an external drive? I said to get one with a fan, but have seen highly recommended to those without a fan.

If portability is a requirement, such as this storage drives will do:

If the HARD disk will live on the desktop all the time, your choice increases.  Here are a few more examples (and there are more):

The fans are not always essential if the design of the enclosure is made correctly.

There are many publishers and other options are available, but OWC is a good seller with excellent customer support.

Note that anything that is stored on a disk external HARD must also be safeguarded if the data has the value.

  • IPhoto on external drive said updated

I have then all my family photos (about 300 GB) on an external drive about 2 years ago. Today I tried to open my iphoto on the external hard drive and I got an error message that says "iphoto cannot be opened white it is updated. As far as I know, its not actually updated anything. I could use help open iphoto or at least get all in his library please. Any ideas?

In addition, the drive is formatted for Mac OS extended (journaled), did not know if that mattered

  • clips from library for the FCPX external drive disappear

    First time user FCPX.

I run an end iMac from 2012 and has been using iMovie 10.1.2 until yesterday.  Just before you buy FCPX, I ran out of hard drive space and got a disk external 4 TB and transferred my iMovie library here.  I've renamed the library external iMovie "iMovie" and deleted the one on my Mac, releasing 500 GB of space.  Tested with iMovie using the external drive, no problem, everything works ok.

Then, I bought yesterday FCPX.  To have access to all my old clips in imovie, I used iMovie and open "library external iMovie" and used the 'send to Final Cut Pro library' command in the file menu of iMovie.  Everything seemed fine, as I was able to open the library in FCPX and all my clips and events were there.

I thought everything was great, then I went to add some clips to FCPX of my video camera.  I created a second library FCPX and put the clips.  They have downloaded completely, but after downloading said it was over, my machine froze and I had to do a hard reboot by turning off.  This isn't all that unusual, sometimes my Mac crashes when I leave it alone for several hours.

After that I turned on and opened FCPX, I see in the left pane, two libraries, and events, but some clips appear on my screen.  I opened and closed the library hoping to get the clips to the rear, without success.

Any idea what went wrong or how to fix it?  I don't know whether to attribute the problem to computer freezing, or rather the use for the first time an external drive to host my files.

If I can't understand what went wrong, and then I simply repeat the process I went through the first time and see if I get the same results, but I'd rather figure out what I did wrong and try to fix it, so I have a higher level of comfort, go ahead.   I hope that this will not be an experience repeat everything simply because I'm hosting my video files on an external drive.

    Thank you!

The problem is caused by the shutdown. You could see if there is a backup in the case of movies, but there are maybe not if you have imported only from the media.

You cannot use this computer with FCP if hard it crashes. You have to get it repaired. No computer should crash like that unless you pull the plug. If you have problems to get a UPS to give you time to stop.

  • System froze for a minute while searching for a missing network drive

When, for example, browse the files in the Windows Explorer home & network is disconnected, the system tends to freeze for half a minute, as it is waiting for the sharing network address. No processes are active in the Manager of tasks (idling only), but the computer is devoid. This happens on any PC, computers cell phones not only. Does anyone know how to get rid of this behavior, or at least to shorten the waiting period?
There is a solution to disconnect network drives, but I would like to find something more simple.

    Hello

Looks like you have mapped some network drives to your operating system.
I think if you're looking for files or something like that OS trying to get permission to search or enter the network drives.
But if the network is disconnected from the operating system takes several times to see that.

I put t know if there is a solution for these issues. But try to google for more details. Maybe you about success. Please report if you find useful information

  • Deletion of old hard drive for use as external drive.

Hi sorry - Clumsy in the forums - can't get the hang of use.

    Recently, I upgraded my inspiron e1505 to a 40 G for a 120G drive.

I bought a pen for my 40G and now can put in MS Explorer.

How can I erase it to use as an external 40 Gig drive?

Is it as simple as deleting the files?

Or, I remember back in the day when manipulate you a computer at the prompt back and could format a drive to get a fresh white disk.

I'm afraid to be without notice. Any ideas?

  • Copy of iPhoto/iTunes to external drive for upgrade

I would like to transfer my iPhoto (5.0.4) and files iTunes (9.2.1) of my old iMac G5 (running 10.4.11) to my new iMac (El Capitan running).

My iTunes library is now on an external drive (and iTunes is headed there), and I would like to copy my iPhoto on the same drive - to move together on the new iMac while maintaining the structures of files etc.

Can someone tell me what is the best way to do this? I'm not clear what iPhoto files files, I need to move or copy on the external hard drive to retain the current structure of the organization/etc folder or the process then bring them into the right place on the new machine.

Simply drag and drop them where you want libraries to reside. As iPhoto is plu included you will use the Photos app. You can learn how to move the library iPhotos to Photos for Mac on http://osxdaily.com/2015/04/17/move-iphoto-library-to-photos-mac/.

Insofar as your iTunes library, yet once just drag and drop. 'Teach' iTunes where the library is simply double-click the library and iTunes will find it and then "know" where the library.

I'm looking for a specific design on my external hard drive.  How can I do a search on this drive

OK guess I wasn't too clear.  How to do a search on my external hard drive?  Or any search also.  I went to the lower left of the screen and in the box "search" I typed 'redwork.  I got was a Web site.  So, how I'm looking just my disk hard ex.?  I hope that is more clear.

    Thanks, Fredda

You can search for files, types of files, folders, programs, text contaiined in the folders or files, but not for designs - there is no way to enter a design search.

    I'm sorry.

  • How can I search for files on my external hard drive WD My Passport, using spotlight?

    Hello

I bought my first apple product, a MBP of the retina and has opened and updated at the El Capitan 10.11.6 a few hours ago.

I need exclusively for music (traktor and ableton) and research songs and samples is essential.

First slap my face was when I read on school drop-outs and questions with traktor and every update after that Yosemite 10.5 and I could have downgrade to it, even if I have no idea how.

Second slap in the face and the question, I'm looking for help, was when I started to use spotlight to find the pieces of my external WD My Passport hard drive, only to discover this method of index (confidentiality, etc.) does not work and that there may be no solution for this problem.

Can I do to solve this problem permanently? Any other tool of research, I can use instead of spotlight which will do the work?

I was really happy with this purchase, but I have my doubts now and I'm starting to think that I have spent a fortune for nothing.

Please, if you have any suggestions, explain in detail because I'm not familiar with the Apple OS.

    Thanks in advance!

FWIW, Spotlight can certainly index external drives.

Rebuild the index on your Mac - Apple Support Spotlight

You can use EasyFind since the alternative App Store as a research tool.

  • How can I get the utility auditor of system files (SFC) in Windows XP to search for the source files on a CD in a CD/DVD EXTERNAL drive instead of the CD/DVD drive internal Windows?

I use a Dell Dimension E310 PC running Windows XP Media Center Edition.  The CD/DVD drive has stopped recognizing CD long ago.  (He still recognizes DVD but not CD).  I use an external drive to CD/DVD of Asus.  I keep getting messages that Windows need to replace versions unrecognized some Windows file and asks me to insert my source CD into the CD/DVD drive.  I checked the MS Knowledge Base and got instructions on how to use the utility (SFC) System File Checker to replace the unrecognized Windows files.  I started the process and inserted the source of CD files (recovery CD provided by Dell with the PC when I bought it) in the drive of external CD/DVD, but the SFC would not recognize it it.  He just kept asking me to insert the CD of source files in the CD/DVD drive.  So I have to find a way to get the SFC utility to find files in the external CD/DVD drive source - or I have to take the PC to the Geek Squad, buy a new CD/DVD drive and get them to install it.  Would appreciate any help you can provide.

GO to start > run > regedit

I backed up an iMac to an external drive WD using Machine of Tme. I would like to download some of these pictures of the WD for a Mac Book Air.

However when I click the iPhoto library icon in the image on the WD backup file, it says that there are no photos to import.

This isn't how you get to the elements in a Time Machine backup. See the following articles:

  • I copied the folder iPhoto to my 'images' on an external drive and all photos disappeared both external drive and the iPhoto library. Do you know where they are?

Hello! I have a big problem!

I copied the folder "Images" that is default in my Mac on an external drive.

Inside the 'Images' folder, there is the iPhoto folder.

When I reopened iPhoto, all photos disappeared from the iPhoto library and the external drive. I left alone with very little, very old photos.

Do you know where my pictures maybe? Photos in iPhoto has also lost all the flags...

Thank you in advance for the answer...

What software (name and version) are you using? What format is the EHD? How is it connected? What exactly did you do step by step

Bottom line is that correctly copy a package does not remove anything so you did something wrong and we need to know exactly what you have and what you have done to help

  • Photos will not open the iPhoto on an external drive, already "migrated" library

I moved my iPhoto to an external drive library, updated, then "migrated" photo library with the drive connected. Once I opened the Photos without the drive connected, and there is a library 'Photos' of 9 seemingly random photos. Now, the pictures will not open the old library with the drive connected. Is there a way to change the pictures in the library accesses?

Here's the disclaimer that I get: the contents of the iPhoto 'iPhoto Library' library has already migrated to the Photos.  Open the Photos to display your library or use a compatible version of iPhoto to open the iPhoto library.

(But it does not open the library on the external hard drive).

Photos of the Lauch with Opiton maintained key pressed if you get this window:

Search and select the library located on the EHD and click Choose library.  The location of the selected library will appear just below the window.
