Should I know a few tricks to downgrade my Satellite A100-667 to XP

Hi all
I'll get my toshiba A100-667 to XP.
I've already downloaded all the drivers from the toshiba site and wonder if I should know some tips or advice who had this experience.

see you soon
P.

Hello

The installation is very simple.
But you have decided if you want to use only a single operating system XP or two OS (Vista + XP)

It is important that you choose the right Toshiba XP drivers from the driver page.
Satellite A100-667 belongs to the PSAAR series. You must choose this serial number to download the correct drivers.
Please take a look in the instruction to install txt file located on the pilot site.

The order of installation is necessary and you must follow this line guide to install the XP drivers on your machine.

Best regards

  • Satellite A100-294: what memory should I buy

I have (only) 512 MB of RAM and I need to upgrade. Should what memory I buy? What models, which could be found on the market, I could choose? And do I have to have the same memory, for example. 512 + 512 MB or 1 GB + 1 GB (or even the same producer?) for best performance, working properly, or something? [Please help me, I need to upgrade as soon as POSSIBLE and I could not afford any possible error:]

    The laptop is Satellite A100-294

    Hello

I hope that I will receive some reward you points because I think I can provide useful answers ;)
The laptop seems to be the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM fragmented into several modules.
You can use these modules from different manufacturers, but in my opinion it s better to buy a module of brand instead of module without name due to the better performance

This site provides a few compatible Kingston modules for Satellite A100-294
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=24854&ft=m&St=3

You can also mix the modules; I mean, you could use 512 + 1024 or 1024 + 1024 or 512 + 512. All these options are possible

  • Satellite A100 screen had a few scratches

Hi all, I hope I'm posting in the right section...

My problem is that for a long time, when my laptop was my offbeat system idle and froze. When I forced a reboot the screen has some scratches.

Once the program loaded grub (double ubuntu/win7), he had a few random weird letters instead of the correct letters.
After the Boot animation windows, the screen remains blank. I rebooted and tried to log in to ubuntu.

Ubuntu was telling me something about some error and told me to go under the low resolution.
Using sure start in windows, I was finally able to enter windows system too. I disabled the driver (?) graphics in the Device Manager, and since then he has been able to start normally, in low resolution, what is.

The question is, if my graphics card is broken? Because sometimes, the display looks good again. (I see that because there are no weird scratches and I'm able to start with a high resolution). But there again it is broken once again):

I tried to reinstall the graphics driver many times, but it did not help. And it should be the newest!

    On my system:
    Satellite A100
    nVidia GeForce Go 7600

Any help/tips/advice much appreciated! Thank you

    > The question is, if my graphics card is broken? Because sometimes, the display looks good again. (I see that because there are no weird scratches and I'm able to start with a high resolution). But there again it is broken once again):

I'm scared, Yes. It looks like a faulty graphics card.
You can try to connect the external monitor to the laptop and could check if the same would be visible on the second monitor
In most cases if the GPU is affected, the stripes are visible on the screen, internal and external.

Well, in this case you would need a new motherboard. :(

  • A few questions on my Satellite A100-PSAANL

I recently bought a Toshiba laptop (after a lot of research and looking for a room), September 14, to be more precise. Here are the specs:

Satellite A100-PSAANL - 04L 036 (A100 - 2214D is that the dealer is called I'm not able to find it anywhere else on the net). It has a CPU Core2Duo 2 GHz with 4 MB of cache (it's what me attracted) and Windows Vista business with ITW for 3 years. I felt at the top of the world, return the purchase. But since then, it has been a constant list of problems:

    1. the Flash card starts giving problems. The net says it's because of Vista, define compatibility, run as admin and many tips. None worked. Suddenly, windows will be the collection of information to send and to find a solution to the failure of program Toshiba flash Cards. Finally, I have disabled it at the cost of losing the F1 - F12 keys feature. I tried a few downloads, but no use. So I say a new update (posted October 3 files). The upgrade is of 8 records. The 3rd file fails or download it. There is in fact no third party file.

    Visit this link. http://PC.Toshiba-Asia.com/support/downloads/index.jsp?product_list=2&seriesID=3&ModelId=1112&s howtype = pilots & docid = 5678
I used my precious bandwidth for nothing.

    2. the Intel 3945 ABG card suddenly disconnects wireless router, with a message of limited connectivity. I said to myself, this is my internet connection and 2 minutes of my time to reboot the system. It is common with no difficulty, even if I have my drivers to the most recent update on the site. Once again on the site above. No use. Only waste of bandwidth consumption.

    3. I tried to register the warranty which gave an error message. I watch the guarantee search link, the site says I have only 1 year my distri says 3 years ago.

    4. I've seen in a pdf file that the buttons on the side can be used for Express media player. But I put t seem to have. Or any help for the same thing. I press the button and windows starts to CD/DVD.

    Can someone please help?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I see you have a lot of questions. If possible I'll try to give some useful advice.

    On point:

    (1) I read on FlashCard issues in different threads here in the forum. In most cases, the new update solved the problems related to the FlashCards. I checked the page of the European driver and found the Vista Toshiba value added Package that contains the utility FlashCard. It was published on 09/06/07 so I put t know why you write that the files have been published on 3 October. However

    (2) there could be several reasons why WiFi disconnects. First of all, I would recommend updating the Vista operating system to the last State. Then you should check if the WiFi signal is strong enough to make use of WLan correctly. A weak signal is sometimes suddenly disconnects. You should try to use the utility Intel ProSet wireless configuration tool to configure the WiFi network. Last but not least check this Toshiba Wlan portal for more details and proposals of solution:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

    (3) I m not an expert on security issues, but I recommend you contact the service provider authorized in your country for detailed information on your warranty period.

    (4) as you probably n t know the satellite series comes with a different hardware and software configuration. Are you sure that the laptop came with preinstalled MediaPlayer Express 100%? I don t think so. With the button CD/DVD will begin operating system Windows and Windows Media Player (if the CD has been inserted) or WinDVD player (if the DVD has been inserted)

    I hope I could help

  • Need to buy a new battery for a satellite A100 - don't know which!

    Hello

My Satellite A100 laptop battery is dead... He has for the last year showed signs of life slowly reduce.
But I can't for the life of understand me which battery to buy on the section of devices of websites of Toshiba under Power Options.
    All Advisor, welcome.

Also my laptop has started to become extraordinarily hot - who would have something to do with the life of the battery is reduced?

    Concerning
    RAM

You can find the model number of your battery and buy the same model. My Toshiba A100-383 battery has this model number: PA3399U-2BRS, I don't know if yours has this number too.

The heat is a big problem for Li - ion batteries. In any case, you should check if your laptop temperature is abnormal (maybe a fan does not work or it is dirty) because it can affect other components.

  • Satellite A100-912 has a few screen problems

    Hello

I have the Satellite A100-912 with WXP and up to today, there is no problem.

I don't know what happened, but a few hours ago, screen started flashing and colors have been mixed.
I tried to install the new drivers, but it did not help so I hope that someone here could tell me if I can fix it somehow or its some hw question...

    Thank you

    Hello

It is very important to know if this problem is caused by faulty material or because of software. To be 100% sure I recommend you to use a few methods.

First try to connect the external monitor to your laptop and please check if the same thing happen on the external monitor. If so the reason may be the faulty graphics card. Otherwise, you can also install OS using recovery delivered DVDs. After doing this you will have factory again and the good drivers will be installed. If the problem persists, it may really be due to faulty hardware (graphics card or screen).

Sorry, but it's really not easy to say with certainty what the problem is here. Please do not wait too long and if the guarantee is valid that the technicians check your laptop. The warranty will cover all repair costs.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A100-593: should I install 64-bit or 32-bit Win Vista version

A100-593 Centrino Duo T2300, 1 GB of RAM FSB 533

I have already installed the 32-bit version. Everything works fine.

But I read 64-bit can give problems with portable computer equipment (lack of 64-bit drivers)

    http://www.tech-recipes.com/microsoft_vista_tips1426.html

on the laptop is marked vista capable, but that does not mean that pilots are ready for 64-bit.

where is the constant pleasure you receive error messages that a certain hardware driver is not signed. Or you can not burn a dvd or listen to your sound card...

Someone out there with positive ratings...?

    Hello

As far as I know the Satellite A100-593 shipped with an Intel Core Duo (Yonah) CPU T2300 1.66 GHz.
According to information I found on this page does not support the CPU 64-bit (EM64T)
    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core
I think that it is better to use the 32-bit version

However, the fact is that Windows Vista is not official on the market right now.
In this case there is no assurance that Vista OS will work without any problems on the laptop.

  • Can I downgrade my Satellite Pro P200 for Windows XP?

    Hello

I bought my Satellite Pro P200 (PSPB7E) a week ago and I love it. I have an unused XP license, so I would like to downgrade.

Is this problem? I don't see xp for a Chicony webcam drivers or the HD-DVD player.
I'd really appreciate some feedback. There must be someone out there who has tried to do.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello

Of course you can downgrade the satellite Pro P200 for Windows XP.

When installing XP, you need to install the Intel Storage Manager. It is a SATA driver that is needed to activate the HARD disk.

    Regarding the webcam driver.
I checked the page European driver of Toshiba and the Chicony webcam driver is certainly available.

The HD DVD driver is not necessary because the Windows XP must use an own ODD driver.

    See you soon

    Hello.. I have a problem...

    I have a laptop Toshiba SATELLITE A100-528 PSAA2E-01H00WGE...

not a password... it's propably supervisor password or bios password...

.the thing is that I don't know what the boot is... i password my PC and it doesn't let me do windows if I don't type the password... y at - it a way to remove the password?

It won't let me either start from a cd or usb... I press F12 to choose to boot from the cd or usb, but it's still request the password unknown... is there a solution?

    Please answer it is essential!
    Thank you very much...

    > the problem is that I downloaded toshiba HW setup and I accidentally put a password...
    > .not a password... it's propably supervisor password or bios password...

That s funny because the BIOS password or contractor may be reset by an authorized service provider.
The BIOS password is a high security option that can not easily be reset.
Then ONLY ASP can remove a UNKNOWN password.

  • Satellite A100 - a few questions about Win 7

    Hello!

    I need help or advice.

I intend to add memory and then intall Windows 7 on my Satellite A100

    1. I want to install two DDR2 SO-DIMMS of 2 GB. Can you confirm that my A100 will see 2 strips of memory 2 GB (4 GB together)?
    2. I think that my computer can only work with windows 7 32 bit, I'm good?
    3. I found drivers for windows 7 32 bit on the Toshiba site. So, in theory, it is quite possible.

But has that that already installed windows 7 on individual A100? I would like to know the results.

    Thank you.
    Nastya

    > 1. I want to install two DDR2 SO-DIMMS of 2 GB. Can you confirm that my A100 will see 2 strips of memory 2 GB (4 GB together)?
It depends on the chipset which is available on the motherboard.
For example; the A100 with Intel 945 PM Express chipset would be able to handle 4 GB of RAM.

    > 2. I think my computer can only work with windows 7 32 bit, I'm good?
No, you can also use 64 bit OS\

    > 3. I found drivers for windows 7 32 bit on the Toshiba site. So, in theory, it is quite possible.
You can install Win 7 32 bit and 64 bit 32 bit and 64 bit drivers that you need to look in your own hands

Where can I get this CD?

It's old model of laptop, and I believe that you will not be able to get this record. To be honest you don t need.
All the drivers for that old model of laptop that you can find on Toshiba download page http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Please use archive option and you will find it.

  • Should I update Intel INF Utility on Satellite A100-784

    Hi guys,.

I want to ask you. I started using the AdvancedCare system and the menu "update Driver" it showed me that I should download Intel INF Update Utility (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldId=16023&lang=eng).

But I'm confused now if I have to install it when Windows Update never showed me this update possible.

Is my laptop Toshiba A100 - 784 PSAANE and I use Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit (No OEM base Vist I got when I bought this laptop).

    Thanks for your advice.

    Daniel

    Hello

Satellite A100 - 784 PSAANE works without problem?
If Yes, then why you want to update anything?

I have followed this recommendation; never change a running system.

And in addition only a hint: use always the Toshiba page tools and drivers. Don t install any driver tool from 3rd party page if it of not really necessary.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A100-062: I would like to downgrade from Vista to XP

OK, I'm helping a friend who has two Toshiba laptops, about 5 months (with XP) and another with Vista. For various reasons: lack of support of pilots for its 2 years, printer, the software does not not etc. - I would like to 'downgrade' the new laptop to XP. The model is a Satellite A100-062.

Is it as simple as just install XP and Vista (good riddance) - crush or am I'm going to have problems with a lack of Toshiba XP drivers for this particular machine?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    > Is as simple as just install XP and Vista (good riddance) - crush or am I'm going to run in
    > problems with a lack of Toshiba XP drivers for this particular machine?

Well, on the page of the Toshiba driver you will only find the Vista drivers.
But don t worry the A100 many different A100 series notebooks were shipped with the same hardware specification.
I simply recommend you test different drivers from different series Satellite A100 and Equium A100.

    Additional information on the Tip:
Why you n t create a second partition on the laptop and install the XP operating system as a second operating system.
In this case, you can use the two BONES.
    What do you think???

  • Satellite A100-188: BIOS downgrade - how?

    Hello

first sorry for my bad English.
I have to update my bios from version 1.3 to 2.0. After that I have problems when I start the system.
toshibe says it's not possible to downgrade. in this forum I read that it is possible.
I read that in an Italian forum can I find help, but I Don t understand the Italian language.
the user in this forum 'alter_schwede' and 'fizzban' can help me. (in German).

When one of these 2 users read that please contact me. ICQ: 131260081
    or by e-mail [email protected]

    Hello

First of all, to my knowledge the BIOS downgrade is not possible.
Secondly, on the Toshiba page, I found only the latest BIOS (not the older versions).

In addition, on the Toshiba driver page, you will find 3 different models of Satellite A100.
AFAIK the A100-188 is a unit of PSAA9E.
Therefore, it is important that you used good BIOS and that it have updated with the proper procedure.
Bad BIOS and bad upgrade procedure may damage the motherboard or some problems with the functionality of the device.

I guess you used the wrong BIOS. In this case, you will need to contact the ASP from Toshiba for the return of the BIOS.
You might try updating again with the good BIOS.
