Should I upgrade from 8.1 to 10?

A few months ago I had to buy a new desktop computer and it came loaded with 8.1 with free upgrade to 10.  A month ago, I responded to a pop up saying click here if you want to join the queue to release grade - I clicked and have heard nothing since.

I don't know anything about the drivers, applications, updates etc.  I use my desktop computer for surfing the internet and emails, that's about it.  Should in view of all the pitfalls, I continue my free upgrade or just stick with 8.1?

If I contact Microsoft for the promised free upgrade, will I still go through reams and reams of updates - it took Geek Squad nearly 6 hours to get the new computer loaded initially.

I'm probably a little more reckless than TheOldMan but I think that we are guiding the lilly here. The update of Windows 10 media creation will 'just work' for you. If this isn't the case, it retains the Windows 8.1 recovery partition which would make it easy to reinstall 8.1 in the very unlikely event that you do it. The computer is practically new so I doubt there is a lot about what is new or different from that of a factory installation. Windows 10 gets rid of the "Subway tile" thing that nobody doesn't like and in my opinion makes the computer easier to use. Windows 10 is just a lot better for a novice is one of its charms. However, to be honest, you're probably very well do nothing and go down the road.

    1. the older system with Win7 should not go Win10 that HP provides no support any drivers for it unless it was made in 2013.

    2. your specific HP PS comment is false with no facts to backup. We should refrain from making these comments - does nothing to help other users.

  • What is the best operating system to upgrade from Vista? Should I buy Windows 7, 8 or 8.1?

I have Vista 32 bit Home Premium. It does not support Windows Mail.Which is the best operating system to upgrade from Vista? Should I buy Windows 7, 8 or 8.1? I do not have a touch screen system, my system is five years old.

    Original title: upgrade

    Hello WilliamPopat,

If you want to buy an another operating system, you would do better to buy the latest version, i.e., Windows 8.1 it doesn't matter that you don't have a touch screen like Windows 8.1 will work just as well on a desktop PC / laptop normal.

However, before rushing and buying a copy of Windows 8.1, I suggest that you look at this link http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/11885-windows-8-upgrade-assistant-download-run.html the link above shows Windows 8 Upgrade Wizard you can download (free) and allows you to check that your PC is compatible with the latest version of Windows.

According to me, one of my office machines is around 5 or 6 years and Windows 8/8.1 works fine on it.  However, it is best to check your own machine with the wizard upgrade just in case.

Hey guys, I have an ipad 2 A1396 64 GB. I have almost 30 GB of free space, however lately my ipad is really slow.

Should I upgrade to 9.3.1? This will make it faster? Is there anything I can do for my lucky ipad? a program to set or change?

    Thanks in advance...

Each update, apple publishes intends to improve performance and efficiency to provide a better experience for their consumers, so in my opinion the upgrade would be better now to improve the performance my advice would be to close the applications that you do not use and restart from time to time to clear the immediate memory.

  • 'Upgrade' from Vista to Windows 7 without a clean install

Is it possible to upgrade from Vista Home Premium 64-bit for Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I searched through the forums and most of the responses seem to confuse "upgrade" with "clean install". I bought the Windows 7 upgrade in order to keep all of my existing programs and settings in place not re - install everything from the beginning.

Is it possible to upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7? If this isn't the case, then I don't see how Microsoft can claim to offer a "upgrade path". I don't think a "clean install" is the generally accepted definition of an upgrade.

  • Upgrade from 1.1.4 to 1.2 (VMWare) ISE

We intend to do an update on our runing EHT on VMWare. Our current version is the 1.1.4 and we expect upgrade to version 1.2. According to the published notes, 1.2 works on 64-bit and we currently use 32 bit on our ISE. I have red all the release notes and upgrade of Cisco and all guide does not include the process to upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit. I created the project for the upgrade plan, here's what I think for the upgrade. Create a backup of ISE 1.1.4 install ISE 1.2 of new virtual machines and then restore the databases of 1.4 and then will upgrade the databases to version 1.2.

    Hello

You can run the stright upgrade Installer v1.2 takes care of the conversion from 32 to 64 bits.

Edit: You will need to change to RHEL 5 64-bit RHEL 5 32-bit host operating system.

What is a stand alone ISE or a depoymentof more then one?

If you have a deployment, you can start with your secondary node of PAN (admin). When finished high school announces that it is v1.2 and when you upgrade the next node, an NHP, it is conect Pan automatically in high school

There may be problems during the upgrade to ISE, but with my last customer goes to version 1.2, everything worked as it should.

But I have to prepare for the worst with DB Backup, backup of certifiactes + pvk, having access to administrators AD etc.

Tip is to copy the upgrade file to the local disk and run the upgrade from there and reset the DB on the PSN knots to shorten the time of the upgrade.

  • Upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Ultimate

If I upgrade Windows 7 Starter to Ultimate a CD/USB/HDD, is it possible to save all the programs/applications so that I do not need to re - install again?

You will not be able to do.

You must use the product key and to make an Express upgrade.

If the license for Windows 7 Ultimate, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Ultimate. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate files the stored settings and programs.

  • I need to do a restore on my laptop but I upgraded from premium to ultimate on the line, the restoration will cost the factory how to re - install my upgrade printed only email to purchase

I have a Sony Vaio VGN series laptop PC that is corrupted and requires a complete restoration of the factory. Recovery discs when it's upgrade in place, but I'm not sure that it will be part of the recovery. I have the original e-mail printed purchase for online upgrade, including the key I will be able to use it again on the same laptop, it was installed on?

The first thing you need to do is to get your Windows 7 Ultimate Anytime Upgrade key:

An e-mail containing your product key will be sent to the e-mail address associated with your Windows Live ID account or e-mail address you provided if you ignored the account configuration. Note: If you use an email tool or spam blocker spam filter, be sure that you can receive e-mail messages from microsoft.com.

What happens if I lose my product key?

If you lose your product key, you can return to

www.Windows7.com/GetKey and sign in using the "Sign In" link in the upper right of the page. This will allow to recover your product key if you have established your account with your Windows Live ID. If you do not configure a Windows Live ID account initially there is no record of your online product key. Check your e-mail since it is the only trace of your product key.

Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:

The next thing you need to do is to reinstall the base license that you upgraded, Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate.

If your computer is pre-installed with Windows 7:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

-Samsung uses ESC on most of its systems

-HP use F9 on most of its systems

-Fujitsu uses F12 on most of its systems

-Acer use F12 on most of its systems, but often you need to go into BIOS to allow

    -Dell uses F12

In general, look at the screen during the POST for a tip for what is possible.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

     http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950929/en-us

    ----------------------

    Redo the Express Upgrade:

Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click Enter a key, enter the Windows 7 Ultimatekey request, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate files the stored settings and programs.
