    Hi olivias,.

Looks like there may be some confusion on your system which application should be associated with PDF files. You can reset the file name associations by following the steps described in these articles (depending on your operating system):

  • How to set the initial state to hide/show buttons on opening PDF files?

InDesign offering a wonderful object multi-state capacity which unfortunately does not work in PDF files. It took a bit of research for me to come with this information, the UI program itself gives indications that this should work. (Why not maybe another forum of discussion.)

So, I create an interactive PDF using buttons to hide/show specific paragraphs (which are also implemented as buttons because only the buttons and forms can be hidden or shown, AFAIK).

I've set up a PDF created via InDesign using the six control keys and seven paragraphs - one of these paragraphs is the initial state that I want to see when the document is opened. As long as the PDF file that I create is distributed, that's how it works: an initial paragraph appears, buttons can be clicked and the stuff of Heroes appears the mark.

However, a colleague thoughtfully saved the PDF file (so it could rename something more to his liking). When he does this, he left one of the displayed subsidiary paragraphs, rather than the initial paragraph I intended... and of course, this is the version that came out to the customer.

Question: Is there a way to set the initial state to hide/show buttons when a PDF document is opened first, regardless of the State in which he could let or saved? I guess it's sort of ON OPEN event that would allow me to define an initial state as a safety net to the way I save the original document. Obviously, the PDF AS I DELIVER IT will pave the way, I want it, but I'm trying to overcome the appearance of the Murphy's law of a document that can be re-recorded in another State. An event which OPENED on that cure.

    Thank you.

in this case you would have been better if you had locked the PDF file in order to prevent changes ANDS record as actions...

  • Problems with showing all text in pdf file

    Hi all
I have this problem. When I download a pdf file on the Web site of our company as a link and then when I open the link, most of the text in the file is as symbols. The pdf file is a brochure and is exported from CorelDraw. The brochure consists of photos and text. For me, very important is to solve the problem, because most of our customers use Mozilla firefox and they must be able to see everything on the brochure.

    Thank you in advance.

    Best wishes

    Martina

Hello again, yes the development version of the pdf viewer addon is a snapshot at the beginning of what will go into future versions of firefox. so when the display problem is not obvious in the version of the pdf viewer dev, this means that no bug must be filed and the solution is already underway to enter in the next update of firefox.

I can't give you an exact date on what will be your problem in firefox, because without a real pdf taste it is not possible to know what bug caused the problem. However, according to the pdf.js developers a difficulty which is already present in the current version of the developer at least will make in firefox (scheduled for the end of April) 29.

you could test yourself if the problem is still present in firefox (beta) 28 or 29 (aurora) firefox: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/

  • How to configure Adobe Reader to the default program to read PDF files after you install Adobe Acrobat?

How to configure Adobe Reader to the default program to read PDF files after you install Adobe Acrobat? I have a few other programs that need to use Adobe Reader showing 'photo' that are PDF files, and after the installation of Acrobat, it is Acrobat that opens automatically, with a message whenever Acrobat cannot be used for this and will be closed, and then the Player opens. I don't like having to see this message every time... Thank you! :-)

    Hi anne-grethea26777033,.

You can do CD player as your default application by browsing in Edition > Preferences > under categories, select the "Général" and at the bottom of the window, you must select an option which reads "set as default PDF Manager" under the label of startup application and click OK.

Let us know if that helps.

  • I can't remove my PDF files

Since I installed Windows 10 (new installation) and installed the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader DC I can't remove my .pdf files. I can delete any other file, but not the .pdf files. I get the message that it is open in another program without. I restarted my PC and the same judgment. When I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, I could then remove my .pdf files. Recently, I installed again and can confirm the problem still exists.

Apparently, it doesn't matter which version of Adobe Reader that I install. I went with Adobe Reader instead of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and I can not delete all the .pdf files. Is this just a compatibility issue with Windows 10? The application works very well to view .pdf files, but I can't delete everything out of my files. I have to use a program called Unlocker to delete, and even if it's a work around it is inconvenient. I could always put Chrome as my default viewer for my .pdf files. That works and allows me to remove them, but he won't let me not preview my .pdf files in folders off the coast to the right so that I can know what .pdf I am looking if Chrome is set to my default application.

    I got the bug!

Apparently, this bug has been around in fear for Windows 7. If you have the preview pane open in your window when viewing files or folders and try to remove a .pdf file, it will not allow you. He said that you have this open in another program. Apparently this 'another program' is displayed in the preview pane. I think it's stupid. I guess, Miscrosoft Windows literally. However, it is new to me. I was always able to remove even .pdf files when I had this open preview pane. I guess it's a minor thing to give up if this happens only for .pdf files. Just so, make sure you only close the preview pane when you try to remove the .pdf files. No matter if it is open or not if deleting other files however.

  • PDF files is displayed in the preview

I can't view a PDF on Preview 8.1 I downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader DC today.  He gave me an option to use the Cloud or preview as the default location for the display.  He recommended the cloud as a default location, but I chose the option preview instead.

When I was unable to display preview 8.1, I checked iMac updates to see if there was a newer version of the preview that I didn't have to install.  The answer was "no update".

So I went to the Apple Store to find an Adobe Reader App.  Only Adobe applications, I found in the Apple Store, ask the subscription.

Later, I learned that I can open the PDF from Adobe's Web site.  So I renamed the file I tried see and saved on my computer.  Then I tried to view the newly created file in the preview.   I know that the file is there, because the text, albeit unreadable, appears in the toolbar of miniatures.

Please tell me if I have to choose 'Cloud' to view all PDF files in the future.  Also, if Mac preview is not a valid location for viewing, why Adobe included it as a second, though not preferred, default location for display?

    Perform a backup.

    Leave the preview.

Go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J.  When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder. Delete the following text. You won't find all. Restart and test.

  • Previews of the Windows Desktop for PDF files icon

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 and use a large number of PDF documents.

My problem is that only some PDF document files that I leave on my desk display the image thumbnails.
Others show just a generic Adobe logo and a red rectangle that says PDF.
It seems random, on 60% images, logos of 40%. I contacted Adobe and sought in several forums, but can't seem to get an answer.

I know it's just a nuisance, but it bothers me little. (I think it's the same thing in Vista Ultimate x 64)

    These Adobe says:

    Hello Wayne,
Please contact the Support of Adobe® support with AdobeAcrobat® Professional 9.0 Web.
I understand that miniature previews for your PDF files do not always see your Microsoft® Windows® Vista® Ultimate Edition
64-bit operating system.  Thumbnails in Vista are determined by the operating system and
not by the default program to open the file. Some people have been able to display miniature systematically by previews

(Yes, good luck with the phone support!)  and I tried to adjust the Visual settings, giving you all the logos of Adobe, or a mix again.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Hey, Wayne Claus.

I found the following on the Forums of Support from Adobe , which implies to me that it is a problem with Adobe and 64-bit operating systems:

Marin85 on forum.thinkpads.com has found a solution to this problem. Seems that the problem occurs on 64 bit systems. Win 7 32 bit version creates the miniature .pdf automatically with Adobe Pro v9. However, this is not the case with Win 7 x 64. Note that on Vista or XP, but it might be the same number of 32-bit/64-bit.

If the thumbnails are not be generated automatically, in order to create a thumbnail preview instead of the regular pdf icon, you just browse to a folder containing PDFs OF IN ACROBAT READER and select the 'Tiles' of the 'Open files' window view Acrobat then creates miniature previews for the PDF files in that particular folder.

I knew that I had seen something on this problem elsewhere and see that it's an Adobe problem needs to be addressed! I found the link when looking for an answer to a different question. See Finally, a fix for the bug to preview PDF in Windows 64-bit by Microsoft MVP & Tech, Ed Bott author.

  • Some PDF files show as blank pages (because of the dimensions?)

    Hello

some of my PDF files show as blank when opened in Acrobat or Adobe Reader DC pages.

They show well in Apple Preview.app or Chrome.app

Found following workaround solution to see:

    -Open the file PDF

-call file > Preferences > page display

-change the resolution (from custom to the system or vice versa)

= > See the represented contents.

Unfortunately, this work around is not a one time solution. If I close and re - open the PDF file, I need to change the resolution to the other available option to review the content of the PDF file.

This can be connected to the oversized PDF.

Is there another fix or patch for it?

    Thanks, Vicky

Sorry, there has been no help, in any case the problem was connected to the 200 x 200 inch page size limit:

    https://answers.acrobatusers.com/when-200-inch-page-limit-broken-q36927.aspx

My PDF files have been saved in a PDF prior to version 1.6 and the page size exceeded the limit of 200 inches. When Acrobat tries to open a such PDF oversized, it simply does not show it.

    Best regards. Vicky

  • Preview PDF files

Most of the PDF documents can be viewed easily in Firefox, without having to download. There are some, although that, for example the confirmations of bank transfers that are not in preview and a regular download dialog box is displayed.

This happens on Firefox running on two different computers (one using Linux Mint 17.1, the other - Windows XP)

How can I solve this problem?

Then using a helper, it's what you need to do. I have no trouble reading the PDF files with a helper.

  • Download a pdf file, save, won't show the full name of the backup file when name contains a space, stop the name of the file.

Download a pdf file, the file name contains a space in the middle of the file. The name showing on the 'Save' popup is first letters up to space. Works fine on IE8. For example, a file named "old snail_12345.pdf" would show only 'old' (ignore the "s"). This is on Firefox 30.0, WinXP Pro.

Apparently, there is an extension to work around this problem. I have not tried myself. See:

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Filenames_with_spaces_are_truncated_upon_download

  • Merge PDF files with preview

Does anyone know how to take several PDF files and merge them into one continuous PDF document? I can't seem to save as a single file, they keep save as separate entities.

If you open two PDFs in preview and reveal the sidebar in the thumbnail view, you can drag the thumbnails of the pages of one of the files in box of the second file thumbnails and organize the order of page in the sidebar.

Then save the PDF file where you have inserted pages.

    For example:

  • Is there a way to open the exported pages automatically in the preview PDF files?

New to Mac and I was wondering if this feature is available. I regularly export Pages as PDF documents before sending them to the customers.

In Windows / Word, PDF files created automatically opens so you can view them.

I know it takes 5 seconds to manually open them in the preview, but if I missed an option that could automate this step?

Thanks in advance for any help.

When you print to PDF, choose the Option "open with Preview.

  • Preview does not release the PDF files in the Recycle Bin.

After review of any PDF in preview, and then move it to the trash, the file may not be emptied from the Recycle Bin without having to restart the computer.

Anyway do preview release the file without having to restart the computer?

Select the file and use the Command + Option + Deletekeyboard shortcut.  You will get this window:

Click Delete Deletes the file.  The file can be anywhere on the disk hard to make it work.  It doesn't have to be in the trash.
