List VMFS version and block size of all data warehouses
I'm looking for a PowerShell script (or preferably one-liner) list all with version number data warehouses there VMFS and their blocksizes.
I am a novice PowerShell and ViToolkit, but I know how to do the following:
I can list all data stores that begin with a specific name and sort by alphabetical order:
Get-Datastore-name eva * | Sorting
Name FreeSpaceMB CapacityMB
EVA01VMFS01 511744 81552
511178 511744 EVA01VMFS02
511744 155143 EVA01VMFS03
EVA01VMFS04 511744 76301
301781 511744 EVA01VMFS05
etc...
I can get the Info for a specific data store with the following commands:
$objDataStore = get-Datastore-name 'EVA01VMFS01 '.
$objDataStore | Format-List
DatacenterId: Data center-data center-21
ParentFolderId: File-group-s24
DatastoreBrowserPath: vmstores:\vCenter-test.local@443\DataCenter\EVA01VMFS01
FreeSpaceMB: 81552
CapacityMB: 511744
Accessible: true
Type: VMFS
ID: Datastore-datastore-330
Name: EVA01VMFS01
But that's all as far as my knowledge goes.
Someone out there who could help me with this one?
This information is not available in the default properties of the DatastoreImpl object.
But this information is available in the SDK object called a data store.
You can view these values like this.
Get-Datastore | Get-View | Select-Object Name, @{N="VMFS version";E={$_.Info.Vmfs.Version}}, @{N="BlocksizeMB";E={$_.Info.Vmfs.BlockSizeMB}}
If you are using PowerCLI 4.1, you can check with
Get-PowerCLIVersion
Then, you can use the New-VIProperty cmdlet.
Something like that
New-VIProperty -Name VMFSVersion -ObjectType Datastore ` -Value { param($ds) $ds.ExtensionData.Info.Vmfs.Version } ` -BasedONextensionProperty 'Info' ` -Force New-VIProperty -Name VMFSBlockSizeMB -ObjectType Datastore ` -Value { param($ds) $ds.ExtensionData.Info.Vmfs.BlockSizeMB } ` -BasedONextensionProperty 'Info' ` -Force Get-Datastore | Select Name,VMFSVersion,VMFSBlockSizeMB

Require a script to the list of files with sizes on all data stores in a cluster
Hi all
Please be gentle, im not new to Vmware, but new to powershell/powercli and need your help.
cli power can make or y at - it tools available that will do that for me?
I need to generate a list of all the files of the virtual machine in all stores of data available for cluster and their sizes to go with it.
I am mainly interested in the .log files and vmdk files, but I don't mind if it lists all.
I don't mind how his im laid out not after anything fancy just a list of output type something like
/
I did some research but there is nothing I have found that it will make.
My environment is currently esx 3.0.2 with vcenter servers. (currently being upgraded to 4)
Lots of help thanks
Yes, it's a 'characteristic' knowledge when using PowerCLI 4u1 against a VI 3.x environment.
There is a way to workaround, try this
$dsImpl = Get-Cluster
| Get-VMHost | Get-Datastore | where {$_.Type -eq "VMFS"} $dsImpl | % { $ds = $_ | Get-View $path = "" $dsBrowser = Get-View $ds.Browser $spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.HostDatastoreBrowserSearchSpec $spec.Details = New-Object VMware.Vim.FileQueryFlags $spec.Details.fileSize = $true $spec.Details.fileType = $true $vmdkQry = New-Object VMware.Vim.VmDiskFileQuery $spec.Query = (New-Object VMware.Vim.VmDiskFileQuery),(New-Object VMware.Vim.VmLogFileQuery) #Workaround for vSphere 4 fileOwner bug if ($dsBrowser.Client.Version -eq "Vim4") { $spec = [http://VMware.Vim.VIConvert|http://VMware.Vim.VIConvert]::ToVim4($spec) $spec.details.fileOwnerSpecified = $true $dsBrowserMoRef = [http://VMware.Vim.VIConvert|http://VMware.Vim.VIConvert]::ToVim4($dsBrowser.MoRef); $taskMoRef = $dsBrowser.Client.VimService.SearchDatastoreSubFolders_Task($dsBrowserMoRef, $path, $spec) $result = [http://VMware.Vim.VIConvert|http://VMware.Vim.VIConvert]::ToVim($dsBrowser.WaitForTask([http://VMware.Vim.VIConvert|http://VMware.Vim.VIConvert]::ToVim($taskMoRef))) } else { $taskMoRef = $dsBrowser.SearchDatastoreSubFolders_Task($path, $spec) $task = Get-View $taskMoRef while("running","queued" -contains $task.Info.State){ $task.UpdateViewData("Info") } $result = $task.Info.Result } $result | % { $vmName = ([regex]::matches($_.FolderPath,"\[\w*\]\s*([^/]+)"))[0].groups[1].value $_.File | % { New-Object PSObject -Property @{ DSName = $ds.Name VMname = $vmName FileName = $_.Path FileSize = $_.FileSize } } } } | Export-Csv "C:\File-report.csv" -NoTypeInformation -UseCulture I have attached the script to avoid any problems with the hooks.
And the regex expression is updated to account for the names of comments with whites.

Data store sizes do not correspond to the sizes used all the vm
Hey guys, I'm new in Vmware and I have a background of storage and I wonder if its correct what I see when I compare the total size of all the stores of data vs the 'space used' totals of all VMs running on these data stores.
I see a total of 139 to on data warehouses with 33 to free space and when I add the vm used all space I have a totall TB 138. It's the size of all data stores!
This seems not very accurate for me, I expect the total space used much lower. All the vm uses eager reset thick space.
I hope someone can explain or confirm that they see similar things?
For used space I exported the list of all the vm XL, cut in two the column space to separate the numbers from the gb / tb, changed all amounts of GB space and have XL add up the sum of all spaces.
Hey MKguy, it was indeed your option 1, the RDM
a command simple cli: Get - VM | Get-hard drive - Disktype "RawPhysical", "RawVirtual" | Select name, DiskType, ScsicannonicalName, DeviceName, Parent, CapacityGB
has given numbers for all of the ROW and that's the difference between data warehouses, I have seen and all the used vm space :-)
Thank you very much for your help, much appreciated!

Hello
I know size of integer data type is 4 bytes. It is predefined. But I could see integer (5) in some articles. whether a statement is correct or not. If Yes, could you please explain me a little more.
See you soon
Ravi KNo, the INTEGER data type is an alias for Number (38)

Property of block size of the data store
How to get the block size defined in the configuration of the data store tab. Is there a property, I should be looking. Currently, I tried getting the object managed data store but were not able to get the size of the block that.
If you are looking for the solution with PowerCLI, take a look at Re: version list VMFS and block size of all data stores

Hello
Please can anyone suggest what will be the size allocated for a NUMBER data type in a table.
When we question user_tab_columns all the table illustrates data_length 22 with the NUMBER data type.
So what is the importance of accuracy on the size it takes to store data on the storage device?
Please suggest...I think it depends on the values that you actually store and you can find with VSIZE.
Please take a look at this article:

best data type to represent a file size
Hi all!
I need to create a table that contains details abou the files what process on a system and to keep the process of file name, size of the file in byts, full path of the file location is stores etc.
My question is what would be the best data type for a file size, currently the process 4 GB but system files I do not know if this will expand so I need a type of data that will be compatible for any size ther will be no decimal points involved in this.
I hope my question is clear.
Thank you in advance.

UNION ALL in VARCHAR and CLOB data types
Hi all
I want to execute the below query, but the Oracle is throwing a single error.
Select the comments as cm_comments from table1
Union of all the
Select text_action from table2
Union of all the
Select the notes to table 3
Union of all the
Select null from table 4
Error I got: ORA-01790: expression must have the same type of data, matching expression
Here, all columns have the data type of the CLOB except the 'notes' column in the table "table3." I know that this is the reason for the error, but I need a work around that. One solution I know is that cast varchar of clob type, but in this case, there is a chance to cut the data if the CLOB column contains data whose length is greater than the maximum data length for a VARCHAR column.
Please help me in this case to find a solution to this problem.
Your timely help is well appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Try the below with TO_CLOB
Select the comments as cm_comments from table1
Union of all the
Select text_action from table2
Union of all the
Select TO_CLOB (notes) in table3
Union of all the
Select null from table 4

HI :)
I would like to know, how to select in SQL for all the names of columns in a table with their data types so that I get something like this:
Table 1: table_name
the ID of the column has the NUMBER data type
the name of the column has Datatype Varchar2
*....*
--------------------------------------------------------------
Table 2: table_name
the check in the column has the NUMBER data type
the air of the column has Datatype Varchar2
*....*
and it must be for all the tables that I own!...
P. S: I'm trying to do this with java, so it s would be enough if you just tell me how to select all tables_names with all their colums_names and all their data types!...
Thanks :)

Create a table with all kinds of oracle data types?

Thank you
RoyHello
Read the fine manual. It contains examples at the end of the chapter.
http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/statements_7002.htm
I don't know if you know that you can also create your own data types using 'create a type '. So look for examples that are of your interest and not for all types of data.

Ok... Seriously I'm banging my head against the wall here.
I'm using LabVIEW 2011 SP1. VideoMASTER 3.1! I have compiled mass screw on the 2011 folder. It does nothing good. 2 machines to put up with the same versions of LV and VMS.
I use the VBF in Image file VI niVMS to convert .vbf files to jpg. I browse to folder of waveforms in the public domain for VideoMASTER and select the native C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\VideoMASTER\Waveforms\480p RGB OmniGen.vbf file. I then monostable it in the same folder as the jpg file. I get the following error:
"Error 1 occurred in C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\VideoMASTER\bin\VideoMASTER.dll\Check Size.vi of data.
Possible reasons:
LabVIEW: An input parameter is not valid. For example if the input is a path, the path can contain a character not allowed by the operating system such as? or @.
=========================
NOR-488: command requires GPIB controller charge controller. »On computer A, I do NOT get this error (in fact, everything works fine for all files).
On computer B, I get the error.
Do the same for the vbf HDMI file in the folder of waveforms and it works very well.
Do the same for the 480 p file, but a bmp file and no error, however the bmp file is corrupted with no data.
I need to know what is happening in the bowels of this dll. Maybe I'm missing a codec on Machine B? It seems that I'm missing a dependency for this file type. If so how would I know which? VMS I reinstalled several times. I copied the dll over the Machine A. I checked is NOT a licensing problem.
Any thoughts?
Thank you
Jigg, with some quick research, it seems that the accident that you see can be related to do not call the niVMS function initialize before VBF to picture file feature. Please try to run each of the screws after the launch of LabVIEW 2011 and see if you get the same results, and also adding the Initialize works in your code solves the problem. If so, it seems that it will be your workaround solution, but we will also file a bug report; crash is not an expected way to treat this condition.
Edit: Also, if you have other versions of LabVIEW, 2012, etc., which you can compare run this code, we would be interested in the results.
Thank you

I use the CVI TCP media kit at my request and I am curious about the following code:
ClientTCPRead
char * buffer;
int messageSize;
int bytesToRead;
int
bytesRead;/ * Find messageSize and allocate a buffer properly... * /.
bytesToRead = messageSize;
While (bytesToRead > 0)
{
bytesRead = ClientTCPRead (connection handle,
(& buffer [messageSize - bytesToRead], bytesToRead, 0);bytesToRead = bytesRead;
}
OK, this works if you tank elements of the array, but what happens if you pass a structure of arbitrary size? If you read/write the bytes read or written and that you get all the data that you have asked, what do you do at this point to get the rest of subsequent data? For example, replace the "buffer" of type char with a structure of a type defined by the user with a size of 100 bytes or something to that extent. You make a request for read/write and read/wrote less than 100 bytes. How do you get the rest of the data? ICB doing something in the background? I could use this code with several structures, but then again, a particular Member of a structure is not the size of a byte as a tank.
Much appreciated,
Chris
The solution is to use a pointer to char sunk to allocate the data transmitted. The only problem is that this buffer must be a pointer to the data type of the structure before a tank troop can be used for a successful program compilation. Thank you for your help.

I try to use a DLL in LabView that talks about an acquisition card. One of the functions requires a custom data type (MID2250_MDConfig_t) that LabView does not support by default. It is defined in the C header file as follows:
typedef struct

int CoordsX;
int CoordsY;
} MID2250_PointCorrds_t;typedef struct
{
MID2250_PointCorrds_t ULPoint [4];
MID2250_PointCorrds_t BRPoint [4];
unsigned short u32SADThresholdValues [4];
unsigned short u32MVThresholdValues [4];
unsigned short u32SensitivityValues [4];
} MID2250_MDConfig_t;Is there a way I can integrate this data type in LabView correctly. I saw people talking about wrapper dll on this forum but I'm a bit confused as to who. Can I create a similar cluster in LabView and pass it to the function using "node of the library call?

Since the tables are all fixed size (and not huge), they really are inline in the structure. This means that you can simulate a cluster containing many elements inside because it is the elements of the array. The first Point of the UL would be a cluster containing 4 cluster with each two int32 in it. Ditto for the second element. The third is a cluster with 4 uInt32 and so on.
Then configure the setting to adjust the type and thread this cluster, and voila.

Initialize the cluster with data types different (lots of data)
Hello
I have data, which are composed of different data types. First of all, I have initialize cluster with these types of data and then "print" to light (photo). In case of photo data carries 8 characters than ja 4 floats. It was easy to initialize, but here's the question: How can I do this even if I have data that look like this (interpreter):
floating point number
name char [32]
Short value [16]
What I create loooong cluster which have a fleet of 32 characters, 16 short films? Or I can create these 'paintings' in a different way?
THX once again
-Aa-
I suggest using the table-cluster and configuration of the cluster size to match the size of your berries, then package these groups together. In terms of storage of LabVIEW, there is no difference between a group of
floating point number
Name1 tank
name2 tank
...
short value1
short value2
...
and a bunch of
floating point number
-> cluster shipped from
Name1 tank
name2 tank
...
-> cluster shipped from
short value1
short value2
So you can use the cluster table to get the right sizes rather than individually create all these values in a single giant cluster.
