Size of the folio in DPS

We are in the 3rd edition of our magazine iPad using DPS. The second issue was 520 MB (2048 version) which we were happy with, however, the third question went up to 770MB, which takes a while to download. After reading online and here, I try to keep the folio at about 500 MB with all resized jpeg images and videos are streamed in. I noticed that the T3 have disabled double tap to zoom in, it would have something to do with the final size folio? If not, are there settings/tips that we can look at to try to reduce the size of the folio?

Thank you

Dean

I'll give you my standard advice. Stop using the "rendition". There is none

interest practical at all, except in very rare cases.

Use PDF and 1024 x 768 and see for yourself. You'll want to go through

your overlays to ensure that WHO and scroll frames are on raster or

vector in an appropriate manner.

  • Size of the file for DPS

    Hello

I'm trying to compress the size of the file for DPS.

I tried to resize to 1024 x 768 images before placing them in the file and I was wondering if it would make a difference?

By example, if I place a picture of 3000 x 3000 pixels in the DPS document compresses it anyway?

    Kind regards

    Chris

For all, but the overlays pan and zoom and pan images are down sampled at

108 of PPIS for PDF folios. There is no real need to do anything in Photoshop.

Simply place your image and your scale in InDesign.

Currently, phones Android is not supported in DPS. What are the tablets only up to what the native Viewer Android Development supports the droid phones.

  • Best practices for the compression of the image in dps

Hello! I read up on best practices for the compression of the image in dps and I read the asset from the source of panoramas, sequences of images, Pan and zoom images and audio skins is resampled not downloading. You will need to resize them and compress them before deleting the in your article, because the dps do not do it for you. Hey can do!

So Im also read as he active source of slideshows, scrolling images, and buttons ARE resampled as PNG images. Does this mean that DPS will compress for you when you build the article? Does this say I shouldn't worth going bother to resize these images at all? I can just pop in 300 DPI files 15 MB used in the print magazine and dps will compress their construction article - and this will have no effect on the size of the file?

And this is also the case with static background images?

    Thanks for your help!

All images are automatically resampled to based on the size of the folio you do. You can put in any image resolution you want, it's not serious.

  • Import the folios of the DPS for AEM

The isn´t selector activate for import folios of the DPS for MEA. How do I?

Captura de Tela 2016-07-24 às 23.19.jpg

    Hi Rita,.

You will need to create a project in AEMM, and then use the Folio migration tool to migrate the folios (from classic DPS) to this new project.

All folios migrated will be converted in the articles and ready to be used on AEMM.

    More details here:

Migrate the content of folios DPS to MEA Mobile

  • When you create a new DPS use sizes offered by InDesign or the size of the unit?

    Hi all

When you create a new DP, use sizes offered by InDesign or the size of the unit?  I fell on this question when I was looking for the sizes of the various devices and found that the iPhone 5 s, iPhone5c and iPhone4s sizes differ the defauly dimensions offered by InDesign.

Also, should I worry about the DPI of resolution?  With the iPhone, they all seem to be 326ppi, but when it comes to other devices it's something I should consider?  Ideally, I could create DPS apps for all devices offered in digital publishing in InDesign (iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire/Nook and Android).

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Also, if it helps I use InDesign CC.

1024 x 768 using and creating PDF articles you will get OK with the two resolutions of the iPad, and Bob L. said, result 'quite decent one size fits all' for all other devices.

  • You can create an application using Adobe DPS, then go the Folio to a programmer to add interactivity?

I would like to know if I can create an application using Adobe DPS, Col. of the folio to a programmer to add advanced interactivity which does not DPS. I would like to the programmer to use XCode or Android SDK because it is a standard, but they can also use c#, JavaScript and many other coding languages. Folio would serve the purpose of a waterproof digital mock-up for the programmer.

DPS is very extensible using HTML, but the folios can be cracked open

  • Pages of the Folio disappeared in DPS Folio Producer: Organizer

    Hello

We have designed our last journal edition and by default, it has updated the version 20. He showed at this stage in the organizer of producer of Folio of DPS. When we have updated to the latest version of the software, we had some problems, so in an attempt to solve these problems we have updated the version of the folio version 24. Now none of our pages appear in the organizer of producer of Folio DPS and our new number is simply an empty shell (in the DPS Folio producer organizing, not in indesign if). I updated all the items individually, but it is still saying that our folio is empty on the DPS organizing producer Folio. What I am doing wrong? What can we do about it?

What is your folio format? If it is in PDF format, unfortunately producer Folio does not show assets PDF for items.

  • I can tell the file size of my .folio without an iPad?

I've looked everywhere for this answer, but unfortunately, it got away from me. How can I know the size of my .folio file? I don't know that it's really simple. I would like to be able to see the size of the final file of my folio without an iPad.

  • .ipa file has 100 times the size of the original file

For the last years of 1 1/2, I worked on a digital collection. Each article has audio files (2 mb), overlays, partitions pdf and html content.

With DPS App Builder that I finally made the app (.zip) distribution and the developer of Soft (.ipa) I couldn't download, because the .ipa file was incredibly great and I still got the message that my macbook doesn't have enough memory.

So I create a second folio with only 10 items and total about 20 MB size of the file (mp3, pdf, content html).

Now I could download the DPS of app generator .ipa file, but the file size is 2.12 GB - more than 100 times greater than the size of the files used in this article 10.

To be honest: I don't know what to do, because I wasn't expecting that. What mistake am I doing?

The most likely problem is that at least one of your Web content overlays points to a .html file in a Documents folder or desktop. With some Web content overlays, DPS downloads completeness of the contents of the folder (and its subfolders) in which appears the .html file. To check to make sure that the HTML files that link you are correctly isolated.

  • The size of the edge Web content ID inner frame Animation

I feel like a complete newbie here, but I have questions about two things that I knew very little: Animations of edge and HTML.

I've created an Animation of edge with a specific, smaller than the iPad dimensions step size.

I have registered and used the HTML path to add content to a superposition of Folio.

Animation on Board has been inserted in the chassis, but there was a huge space on the right and at the bottom of the stage space when you preview on the iPad.

I opened the HTML file to try to change the size, but I could not find anything with dimensions.

The scene of edge should be not the size of the HTML frame?

Finally, I turned the scale of content to the size option, and it doesn't seem to change anything in the view. What should I look for.

    Please excuse ignorance I expect.

The Animation of the edge is 595 x 256.

I wanted that it sat well in the middle of the largest page DPS.

The problem was that there is a white area outside the area of animation. And if I don't position the frame in the right position, the superposition of web show that white area. (I know that this does not have too much sense.)

However, I discover the background Transparent setting in the Web content settings.

    That solved my problem.

  • Reconstruction of the Folios Android

Hello, I'm looking for suggestions on the workflow for Android 7 '' tablet. We currently have applications in both iTunes store GooglePlay (and Amazon). So far, I had used 1024 x 768 to build folios between all devices. However, we have just bought a Google Nexus 7 and downloaded our app only to discover that our folios are unreadable due to the proportion 4:3 and 3:2. I would like to rebuild our folios for the Android Tablet but since they are already published I do not know where to start.

If I take the approach of 'Lazy Susan' by Bob #1 scenario (referring to article "creating DPS Folios for Android devices") and reuse my iPad and do documents a size of 1600 x 1200, would I need to:

    (1) do not publish and then republish the folio?

    (2) is it a good idea to reuse the the same publication ID?

    (3) if so, what happens to the version from Amazon?

    (4) does it matter if I decide to do a 'V' guidance document only when it was previously the two?

    (5) will be the user then download the folio 'new' and delete/Archives of the folio published previously?

I guess if I choose to either go "all the way" and/or "Sensible shortcuts", these two processes would have the same questions (don't not publish/republish, etc..) I think it's good to add "renditions" at this stage because it is ' sort of ' a 'new '... Is this correct?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

If you looked at your application on a larger HD Android tablet, you'd be even more disappointed what looks like your folio of 1024 x 768. It looks like a small stamp in the middle of a black screen. It is the big drawback of the 'Lazy Susan' approach, at least for now. (In a future release, Android viewers should be able to evolve the contents upwards or downwards. That will simplify things, and I need to revise my orientation.)

    (1) there is no reason to not publish/republish the folio No. Simply create a new format 1600 x 1200 using the eponymous Folio, ID and product Date of Publication settings used in the folio of 1024 x 768. Of course, the problem with this approach is that 1600 x 1200 is still 4:3 aspect ratio, which does not look great on the 16:9 aircraft - ish. Consider creating 1280 x 800 for the Android source files and re-use for each rendition.

    (2) what do you mean by reusing the same "publication ID"? If you mean using the same ID of role/title Application for iOS and Android, yes you can, but it often complicates things. It is generally easier to create separate accounts (title IDs) for iOS and Android. If you mean something else by "publication ID", please specify.

    (3) the Amazon version should be fine, unless you have activated strict refunds (which you don't want to do in your case). Still, I can't understand the question.

    (4) it is not a problem to create a folio double orientation for rendering and a folio of single-direction for another interpretation.

    (5) which is a little tricky. If a user has already opened the application, the spectator is part rendering of 1024 x 768 and unfortunately does not check for a rendering again until the application itself in uninstalled/reinstalled.

Regarding your question on the addition of "renditions" at this point, that's perfectly fine. Addition of "renditions" doesn't hurt existing users, and this makes things better for your new users.

The key to success is to make sure that you configure your source files, so that they can be easily imported. Most of the editors take the road to "Shortcuts" sensible and create different renditions based on two or three sets of source files.
