snap shot tool

I selected the snapshot tool.  I've highlighted the area. A box will appear to say the area has been copied.  Where it was copied or how to save the copy?

It is copied into your clipboard of systems. That's where everything is copied. You must open something like Word or software such as Photoshop and paste the image into a new file.

  • VMConverter Snap Shot size/location, more use of memory?

    Hi all

    I'm new to this VMConverter and read the guide at the mo, a couple of things that I found are not clear and wonder if the people with experience of this tool could answer?

    1, Snap Shot this converter creates during a hot clone, where it is stored when you create? This is put directly to a specified host ESX or VM? Wonder just if you put the free standalone on a server, the disk space will be used upwards when creating?

    2, Windows 2008 Server is supported with converter? My guide does not list above 23 k, but subject dated 2008 says that it is in the experimental stage.

    3, what is the use of the ram with hot clone (very probably not cold clone) as may well end up runnning this software on DC (I won't in fact DC conversion to virtual, just using the machine in the image of the other physical application servers).

    Thank you all

    > 1, the Snap Shot this converter creates during a hot clone, where it is stored when you create?

    It depends on where he goes.  If she goes to ESX, then on this data or for stand-alone store in this directory.

    > Is - this put it directly to a host ESX or VM specified?

    Yes

    > Just wonder if you put the free standalone on a server, the disk space will be used upwards when creating?

    If you use preallocated, the space will be resumed at the beginning of the conversion.

    Otherwise, it will use the space as the conversion goes.

    2, Windows 2008 Server is supported with converter? My guide does not list above 23 k, but subject dated 2008 says that it is in the experimental stage.

    It is with the current versions, Standalone 4.0.x or newer plugins (version 4.0.3 or 4.1.0)

    3, what is the use of the ram with hot clone (very probably not cold clone) as may well end up runnning this software on DC (I won't in fact DC conversion to virtual, just using the machine in the image of the other physical application servers).

    RAM usage, however, is that it takes to make a snapshot of a hard drive on another hard drive.  I don't think it's that.  There is more e/s disk/network than anything else.

  • Screen snap shot and hot keys

    What keyboard shortcut I use to take a snap shot of what's on my screen?

    Shift-PrtScr to copy all of the office.
    Alt - PrtScr to copy the active window only.

    After you copy, you will need to paste into an application that accepts images such as Paint, Word, Powerpoint, freeware Irfanview (my favorite) or equivalent if you want to save or print.

  • Snap Shot recording is not with WVC54CGA of IE8

    I use WVC54CGA.

    I can view images from the camera with IE8. When I click on the snap shot button it goes through the movement to save the image, but it does not record.  I choose the top folder or desktop, but after clicking on save button there is no file anywhere.  I did a search for the file and it is not found.

    If I use the utility turned wink works very well to save the image file.

  • Consolidate the Snap Shot or remove the snapshot, which should not

    Dear Experts,

    We have a Linux virtual machine, and we recently increased its vmdk to add more than 10 GB but before doing so, we took a snapshot of State off the machine. Increase now the space is done and now if I see the drive for this machine, it shows me 'thick' 35GB

    It is the only snap shot we have for this machine. If I click with the right button on computer and go the snapshot > I see here snapshot manager, take a snapshot, back to the snapshot current and last is to consolidate.

    If I go to the Snapshot Manager, I see the point where I am now and the last point that is marked as 'before you increase the space', so I need to click on consolidate OR click the old cliché and delete to maintain the current state of the machine? How the two are different consolidate and remove all?

    If the disk is thick, I can still get rid of snapshots? Please see attached images

    Thank you and waiting for response.

    So what I understand now is the consolidation option should be used when on condition is true:

    operation "snapshot disks compress after delete or clear all ', other wise I should go for delete snapshot in normal condition, please correct me if I got hurt?

    Peacebuilding operation removes all your recovery logs 'redundant '. But removing any operation remove your shots and consolidate on a single disc.

    Consolidation will cause no change in the number of snapshots. But delete / delete all will remove them actually snapshots and the present changes in this snapshot will be written back to the parent disk. And also always remove snapshot operation was launched with a peacebuilding operation.

    Let me know if you need additional information here.

    Delta records are created whenever a snapshot is taken?

    Yes.

    I have a vcenter Server virtual and it have a snapshot that we created when we start building the vcenter, can I remove it so that I am connected to vcenter server using Vsphere client.

    Yes you can delete it. But since its vCenter, please ensure that you have enough space available in your data store to perform a snapshot of deletion operation. The required space are perfectly explained by Duncan Epping in his blog...

  • Snap Shots questions

    Hi all

    I hope someone might be able to adivse what to do.

    I'm under ESXi 5.1. Have 5 running VMs. Our main server has a size of 180 GB drive. Due to my ignorance (or now conscious) I created snapshots of this server. There is a total, i.e. 10 snap shots dating back about 30 days. In the summary (how I discovered something was wrong) the storage provisioned is 485 GB and storage used is 305 GB. Of course the more the origial 180 GB.

    I want to know is should I consolidate all the clichés or remove them all. I am happy with the server that it is now so do not need to return to a any of these plans snap.

    What I'm concearned, I got 168 GB of storage left on my data store. What would be the best way to go about this? We use also Veeam Backup and replication if this will help in any way.

    Thank you.

    According to the screenshot, virtual disk of the virtual machine of base is supplied thickness. With "168 GB of storage left my data store", it should be save to run 'Delete All' in snapshot Manager to consolidate all snapshots. Due to the number of snapshots and their sizes, this could take a while, so please be patient.

    If there is a way of doing things, could someone explain me how please?

    Thank you very much

    I got the answer of @davidderaedt and @sbaril on Twitter.

    You can assign this JS code on a button in the Panel (the Boolean value is on the first line):

    active = true, false = off

    var enabled = false

    var idsetd = charIDToTypeID ("setd");

    var desc5 = new ActionDescriptor();

    var idnull = charIDToTypeID ("null");

    ref2 var = new ActionReference();

    var idPrpr = charIDToTypeID ("Rprp");

    var idGnrP = charIDToTypeID ("GnrP");

    ref2.putProperty (idPrpr, idGnrP);

    var idcapp = charIDToTypeID ('capp');

    var idOrdn = charIDToTypeID ('Ordn');

    var idTrgt = charIDToTypeID ("Trgt");

    ref2.putEnumerated (idcapp, idOrdn, idTrgt);

    Desc5.putReference (idnull, ref2);

    idT var = charIDToTypeID ("T");

    var desc6 = new ActionDescriptor();

    var idtransformsSnapToPixels = stringIDToTypeID ("transformsSnapToPixels");

    desc6.putBoolean (idtransformsSnapToPixels, on);

    var idGnrP = charIDToTypeID ("GnrP");

    Desc5.putObject (idT, idGnrP, desc6);

    executeAction (idsetd, desc5, DialogModes.NO);

    Hello

    Last week, I decided to move from a Windows host based Linux system. So I went through my VMs their power off and copied to another drive. I then installed 7 Centos and reinstalled VMWare Workstation 12 re-imported the virtual machine in VMWare and I tried to start.

    I received the following message...

    "Cannot change the power state of VM: internal error.

    Suspicious, I looked at the folder that contains the machine virtual and noticed it contained snapshots. DOH!

    I guess it is pretty bad, not sure where to start?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    I copied VM, with and without clichés, without problems. Have a few running on OSX Fusion so

    The first thing I would check would be for folders and .lck files. If so, remove them.

  • Can go back us snap shot of ESXi horst, who has been with Vcente crreated?

    Hi all

    We anticipate to upgrade SP on the server VCenter DB, before that would take the cliché.

    My question is, if I take snapshot when the Server DB and the VC is up, I would be able to return to the previous snapshot in case of questions or DB server did not come? suggestions or other prerequisites that I must consider?

    Thanks in advance!

    Yes. It is indeed possible.

  • Virtual machines and their Snap Shots

    Hey Gang,

    When I delete a VM disk, which also removes the clichés that were taken from the virtual machine?

    At least it should be. There may be situations where some files remain on the disk, for example an instant tree with different forks was created and the .vmsd file is corrupted.

  • Snap Shots as backups

    Hi all

    I am very new to VMWare ESX so please be patient with me if I seem to ask very basic questions.

    From what I see when I connect on Vsphere 4.1 and browse servers. If you right mouse click you have a few options "take snapshot" and "snapshot manager.

    Now are there pitfalls when taking a backup of a virtual machine snapshot? We currently have a SQL server on the platform server. The database itself is very small can I use snapshot to take a picture of this? What do you recommend.

    Thank you

    Snapshots can be used by the backup software. The snapshot process basically puts your initial virtual disk in read-only file, and then creates a differentiation for new writes to disk. The snapshot file is not a full picture of the virtual disk. Snapshots are also used by administrators to put the machine in instant mode manually - this allows you to make changes to the virtual machine and then come back if changes are not successful.

    I'll try to use backup software that leverages the VMware vStorage API for the Protection of the data. These APIs is included in 4.1. Which backup software do you currently use?
