Action Center indicating I no. Anti-Spyware when I do
I used SUPERAnti-Spyware, SpyBot S & D and Microsoft Security Essentials on my Windows7 booty. I use on my Windows 8 SUPERAnti-Spyware, SpyBot S & D and Windows Defender.
I've installed IObit Advanced Systemcare anti-virus. Before installing on my W7, I uninstalled MSE. It installed with no problems and it uninstalled SUPERAnti-Spyware, what is called the anti-malware software incompatible. This went well.
But I did the same thing on Win8, and now Action Center of Win8 tells me that I have no Anti-Spyware software although I have installed SpyBot.
No idea why this is so?James
It's a common enough question and ESET NOD32 is treated in the same way. As long as you are sure that you have the right protection and has not been compromised by malicious software, ignore what Action Center said you...

What is the anti-spyware XP 2011? My computer bascially closed and would not allow me to do something and when I tried to search on the internet it would just continue to flow to the top on the xp anti spyware 2011 and that my computer has been attacked. I had microsoft security essentails downloaded but which seemed to have disappeared. Please tell me that this isn't a virus or a bad thing because I had no other choice than to buy this product. I couldn't look again on this subject, the computer kept blocking me to do anything. Since I bought it, it seems to work ok but I am always a little leary about what happened. Help, please

I bought my Toshiba laptop at the beginning of October 2011, so it can be called to a 'new' laptop.
It's a Satellite P770.I took the 30 day trial free McAfee immediately after purchase and have not renewed since. After the purchase, I had also installed Ad-Aware, Spybot S & D and AVG to take care of the protection on a daily basis. Everything worked well until earlier this week, when it asked me to update my Ad-Aware to the latest version, and since the computer was slow morbid, each program invariably always end up with "is not responding.
My browser (Google Chrome) gets as much as my homepage, but I can't connect to any site. I tried to uninstall Ad-Aware (I thought that this must be the problem), but it won't let me. I've heard about the incompatibility of some anti virus McAfee, this could be one of them?
If there is incompatibility between Ad-Aware and McAfee, surely it does not explain the painful speed of my laptop and its lack of reaction. This is something I can only imagine is a virus.
Could I please have a help on this?
My warranty would cover such a problem if I returned my Toshiba Toshiba for that particular difficulty?

Of way General Toshiba has nothing to do with your problem. If you use the combination of different applications and now, you are not happy with the computers portable performance contact software manufacturers and their management of aid.
What everyone here can say, and even you will hear from Toshiba, is that you must reinstall the Toshiba recovery image and start using the laptop with factory again. I put t understand why do you use McAffe and AVG at the same time.
Either use preinstalled McAffe or remove it from the system and install other applications antvirus. I recommend http://www.avira.com/en/index. I use it for years and she is really good antivirus application.

- As before, when my computer when my computer has been infected, I get a svchost.exe error, repeatedly, whenever I restart the computer. The infection has been discovered that the last time by my anti-virus software, because it was hidden. It was a computer expert on this forum who told me my computer was infected by svchost.exe repeated error messages that I received. I ran my Avast software, anti-malware software from MSFT Security Center, Win Defender, etc. this time, and it has detected no infections. (Yes, I know what to do to pass this message means not necessarily my computer is infected, but the tech guy said that it is likely, given that the error message appeared on several occasions). WHAT I HAVE: Win XP Media Center, MS Office 7 Professional (used at home), IE8, Outlook 7, HP w / 32-bit dual core processor, latest version of Avast & Win Defender, Srvc Pack 2 and 3 (although I know that I don't need 3 because I have not upgraded to Win 7, but it won't let me uninstall it!) and regularly updates Win.

You pouvez have a type of rootkit of malware infection. Rootkits can transform and change of identity on your OS (and are difficult to detect and remove) and many computing professionals recommend a reinstall of the operating system in order to ensure that the rootkit is removed.

You have SP3 on your Win XP OS and if you plan to switch to Win 7 make sure that your processor and RAM will manage Win 7... with your history of technology issues a reformatting/clean install of Win 7 would be a good idea. Because of the possibility of conflicts, I do not recommend using Windows Defender with Avast or any other resident AV program. Suggest uninstall you Windows Defender in Control Panel. MSE and several other AV programs require the removal of Windows Defender in XP (or disabling the Defender in Vista and Win 7).

I have an anti-spyware program installed that pay for IM, but when I go to microsoft security, it is said that no anti-virus software not detected, why used it detects my antivrus software I have that professional antispyware, it checks the spyware, malware, virus, Trojans, worms, adware etc... im running windows xp 32-bit and I also had a pop up balloon and told me my firwall was off and his suite and when I used microsoft fixit Center it says it can not make my default firewall firewall windowss? would appreciate help with these questions...

Ok thank you. It makes a difference. Malwarebytes is an excellent scanner and real-time protection. However, none of the software you mention is an antivirus. I recommend Avast free.

Cannot run an anti-virus software after an infection!
OS: Vista Edition Home Premium (Service Pack 2)
System: Gateway MT6821 32 - bit osSaturday:
- Downloaded a file from a friend who turned out to be infected unknowingly.
- Contacted McAfee help once a Trojan horse has been "blocked and deleted. At this point when I open internet explorer, you could say that my computer is still infected with something. I would like to enter an address in the browser and would be redirected to another site (i.e. random search, youtube, offer to purchase through my ISP)
- Ordered to contact Microsoft indicating that it was a problem with internet Explorer.
- Through a problem with Microsoft where they found a file (cngaudit.dll) that was bigger they said it might be that showed them that my computer has been infected. Tech also found cngaudit .dll (69) where it is said that it was a copy of the original file which showed that my computer has been infected.
- Set up a time for another Member of the support team to call me on Sunday to help in the kidnapping.
Tuesday:
- After no calls Sunday or Monday, I contacted Microsoft with my # of cases and a second rep attempted to help the elimination.
- Remote access and technology attempted to run the Scanner again enabled (has been blocked)
- Attempted to run HiJackThis... was able to download, but not executed.
- Downloaded and run Norman Malware Cleaner.
- NMC found 2 infected files... C:\Program Files\Magic Encyclopedia\dvmwlkt.exe (Infected with Malware.ELBD) and C:\Program Files\Magic Encyclopedia\magic.exe (Infected with Malware.EENX) both of these files have been deleted
- NMC also found C:\Users\Page\AppData\Local\Temp\~DFEDF2.tmp, but access has been denied and it could not be deleted.
- McAffee is always installed at this time and all the minutes I get a pop-up indicating that 2 (located in the temporary file) Trojan horses has been blocked.
- Called Microsoft a 3rd time and met with an another tech once again connected via remote access and "worked its magic" like others and recommended I have remove McAfee and reinstall because the alerts I receive are "fake".
- Remove and reinstall to see that McAfee will not be updated or protect. Now the tech suggested that I contact my ISP for assistance because McAfee has been downloaded from their site and seems to be defective.
- Contacted my ISP and was told to contact McAfee.
- Contacted McAfee and told to contact Microsoft.
Wednesday (2 a. .m):
- Always at work, trying to get something to work. Attempted to run the cleaning (ERROR: the instruction at 0x00cb34ef referenced memory at 0 x 00000000) The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program.) Attempted to run the disk check (went through the process and when the system has restarted, he received an ERROR saying that my computer would have to close and restart)

You cannot save your programs - a clean installation wipe everything from the hard drive. Programs need to be reinstalled (they cannot be copied or saved) - and you probably wouldn't do anyway because there is a good chance that some of the infected files can reside in these same programs. The ONLY way to avoid this is to get your hands on a real Windows Vista Installation disc, so we can attempt a repair system/upgrade where your programs will be preserved (and we don't know yet if that will completely solve the problem of infection but it probably will restore the functionality at least for a certain period of time).

We have recently installed McAfee Anti-virus on our computer. Vista Anti-Spyware continues to operate and has only browse to an Internet Explorer upgrade.
How can I make the default antivirus McAfee for computer and remove Vista Anti-Spyware? It is not in my software to uninstall.

If you had a legitimate anti-virus installed before McAfee, did you remove it with a removal tool specialized Publisher of this previous anti-virus before installing McAfee?
