Something's happened to Firefox display every night. I get the text, but the colors, graphics, etc are all gone

For example this page I am now by train is simply the text with blue text, not graphics on a black and white empty bar at the top of the page under the heading and the page to ask a Question

I changed the desktop theme and tampered with the display settings (don't know what I did) and everything is OK now. Thank you for your help.

After that upgrade to Windows 8 FireFox wasn't on my computer so I downloaded it. After have downloaded you I've logged into my account but my password, bookmarks, etc. were not there. How to bring back my profile? I changed my folder view to include hidden files. The only file in the folder of my profile is xxxxx.default with the current date. I have my favorites on my iPad, but I'm afraid to synchronize for fear that it will overwrite the ipad with empty profile rather than the reverse. And I don't think that my passwords are on the Firefox ipad - are they? Help!

Hi belindawolfe, there is a file a high level called profiles.ini. After you have copied your old profile folder over to the new profile folder, you must add the name of the folder to profiles.ini in order to be able to use it. I think that there are other threads with advice on the best way to do it.

Have been left in charge all night I get the message "after reboot requires the password" question is why is this automatic restart, and is this normal

Occasionally, it may restart because something was wrong. It is not a problem unless this happens frequently.

  • Everytime I open Firefox 29.0.1 I get the screen crash report why

Everytime I open Firefox 29.0.1 I Get the screen crash report I want to restore the tabs, as far as I know that Firefox crashed. This started after I upgraded to Ver 29.0.1

Rather than do a uninstall complete, you can try this:

    Create a new Firefox profile

A new profile will be your plugins installed by system (for example, Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions or other customizations. It should also have databases of completely fresh settings and cool a cache folder.

Out of Firefox and start in the profile using Start Manager > Search box (or run):

    firefox.exe -P

Any time want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog box.

Click on the button create a profile. I recommend using the default location suggested, in other words, do not click the button to choose a different folder. Then launch Firefox in the new profile that you have created.

If you browse around, exit, reboot, etc, the problem continues?

When you return to the Profile Manager to return to your normal profile, you might be tempted to use the button to delete the profile. It's a little too easy to accidentally delete your 'real' profile, so I recommend you to resist the temptation. If you don't want to clean up later, I suggest to make a backup of all your profiles first in case something go wrong.

  • Why my start page says "you are not on the latest version of Firefox. Update today to get the best of the Web! "when in fact I have the latest version?

I've upgraded to the latest version of Firefox, but I always get a message on my home page that says "you are not on the latest version of Firefox. Update today to get the best of the Web! »

You can see this message under the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old default Firefox homepage. It seems that this page is no longer maintained by Google. You seem to have the latest version of Firefox.

If you want as the Google search page as homepage, change your homepage to Subject: House (a new version of the old homepage Google/Firefox update is now integrated into Firefox).

You can also see your version on the help > troubleshooting information display

Not related to your question, but...

You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update if necessary:

  • You are not on the latest version of Firefox. Update today to get the best of the Web!

Whenever I update my firefox, I get this message, you are not on the latest version of Firefox. Update today to get the best of the Web!

It - http://www.google.com/firefox - is the old Page to start Firefox used by the Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions of Firefox. I think that Google assumes that you are using an older version of Firefox, as they hard-coded message 'upgrade' in this page - all versions of Firefox see this message.

From version Firefox 4, Firefox uses a 'local' with the address Start Page of Subject: House. It looks like the old start Page, but this isn't exactly the same thing.

See - How to set the home page

  • I get, you're not on the latest version of Firefox. Update today to get the best of the Web! When I go to the site to update it tells me I have the latest version.

    I start the Firefox browser.
When the start page shows, I get just below the Google search box:
You are not on the latest version of Firefox. Update today to get the best of the Web!

Not unusual, but when I go on the site to update it looking for a minute and then tells me I have the current version of the software.

If you use the www.google.com/firefox as homepage site that previous versions of Firefox 3 use as homepage you can ignore the message about not using the latest version of Firefox on this page.

Google seems to keep this page.

The current versions of Firefox 4 + is no longer use this website from Google as home page, but use the build-in on: home page as the home page.

Google assumes that you are using an older version of Firefox if you still visit this site, and warns you that you are using an older version of Firefox and invites you to update.

You can use a different page than the homepage as subject: House or www.google.com or www.google.com/ig (iGoogle).

Try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.
  • URL of the page Firefox displays do not flow in the address book.

Firefox is now showing the URL data for the tab more recently opened in each address bar, and not the actual data for the open page on this tab. For example, tab 1 is open to wsj.com and two tab is the open for foxnews.com, suddenly the address bar to 1 tab now shows foxnews.com in the address bar AND it is now impossible to go 'back' because the button is grayed. In addition, if a link is clicked within the active tab, the URL in the address bar does not change, but remains "attached" on the address opened more recently opened tab.

If this does not work in safe mode and then disable all your extensions and then try to find out who is causing by allowing both the problem reappears.

You will need to close and restart Firefox after each change via "file > exit ' (Mac: ' Firefox > leave";) Linux: "file > exit ')

  • Tabs, address bar & bottom bar are all gone. No Menu > options. That's happened?

Everything except the web page disappears, I don't want to happen. I can get the bar of address and hind hover at the top of the page, but they disappear again very quickly, and it takes a few precautions to reach the buttons back and next, or click on the address bar and type in a new URL or click to open a new tab. It's driving me crazy. I have not reset the preferences or anything so I don't see why this is happening.
There is no menu bar, so I can't find a way to review and edit my preferences.
The bar along the bottom, telling me what else is going on in the computer and the time went also, which is annoying. Who does not come to the time where I go at the bottom of the page. So I have to alt + tab to move.
I just installed Firefox on this machine a couple of weeks.
I would be grateful for the advice, thank you!

Hello, RFMS, click F11 on keyboard to exit full-screen.

  • The missing browser window! Happened when I downloaded "partially" bar to get the coupon. cancelled before the end. Deleted in computer... still no browser

Took the wise decision looking for a coupon download a bar. Cancelled before it finished... entered the computer and delete. Everything what it on my page except the window/browser bar that my page is in my opinion an AOL Firefox page. When I turn on the computer normally, I have a big search engine in the middle that I don't know. I go to the browser and start www.aol (never having to finish... drop a login... Click on) & Huffington post comes with available electronic mail. My News & then go to the email. I like that! Now NO browser window! To get to email due to history and find the past & put updated! Clicked on the browser... put in custody and error control. How can I fix it? Not tech y please more easy fix?
Windows 7... apparently Firefox auto took me to 25.0.1.
Normally only have good things to say... it was my fact... hope you all can help me break easily!

COR - el... You are a genius! Thank heaven, a simple solution for me. I pushed the key F11 key before dinner... nothing. After dinner... refreshed & ready to attack again. I went to support via clicking on your email down... then clicked on site that you highlighted to see if I missed something. No, exactly as you explained. BUT I watched questions alongside your message of support to see if they shed any light. The last issue said a woman how to make something disappear... then told him to go see and bring things back. I was not sure but thought if I could get the F11 to work click on view and see if all there help.
I have had no back arrows so had to move from one page of AOl email to support and again through windows I could switch and make it appear at the top. I pressed F11 hard and voila! The menu bar is back... so I went to see. And you know the answer... clicked on toolbars and the navigation toolbar was not selected! Clicked and I am in service again!
Thank you for your support of the directive. Grateful, that I have no problems as all the others who seem to have more difficult problems. I learned a lot thanks to this... especially since I have no knowledge of this amazing machine base. How I managed all these years with so little skill is a marvel. Thank you once again! Andydandy

  • I updated Firefox, restarted and now I get the following error message when I try to reopen Firefox. "The sqlite3_stmt_readonly of procedure not found entry into the dynamic link library mozsqlite3.dll."

I just updated Firefox and restarted.

Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

    • Uninstall your current version of Firefox.
    • Do not remove the data of a personal nature when you uninstall the current version.

Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

    • It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.

Your bookmarks and other profile data stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.
