Spot color vs. .eps art CMYK .eps file

Asked me to provide 1) a file .eps tones and art 2) CMYK .eps to our company logo. I have an eps file, but beyond that can help me understand what changes I have to do for it to meet the requirements? Thank you in advance.

Clyde,

In my opinion, they say you should do a version with the spot color Pantone colors probably chosen company and a version with the closest CMYK equivalent.

But you can ask them while you ask why they want an EPS rather than the PDF or HAVE. EPS is a bit outdated (for most applications except those where it is formally required for the target application, or something).

First of all, try with a couple of files before you run a gazillion of them.

  • Preserve spot colors when you import the InDesign file into another InDesign file

    Work in InDesign CC.

I often import InDesign files into other InDesign files and find it very useful for my workflow. Often it is a file that acts like a piece of the library that is used in the other files and I love being able to just change it and automatically update the other files.

However I just came up with a work that is CMYK + spot and spot colors are not preserved import - they seem to import as CMYK. Can I export a PDF file and do it this way, but I prefer to skip the intermediate step.

    Any advice?

Have you checked? It really looks like that process tasks is enabled in the file of reception, but I expect that to affect the PDF as well.

I tested on CS6 and it works correctly, but I have on thei smachine CC, and no time this morning to start it, then maybe someone else will test for you to see if they get the same results.

  • If an illustrator file has links with spot colors, how can I create PDF files with process colors?

My file has shades of tones that came with the linked logo, I could not find a way to convert those shades of colors quadri.

I need to send PDF on a printer with only process colors, I know that the printer can choose to convert spot colors to process when printing with printer within Acrobat Panel, but since we do not print, we need to send files to print ready with process colors only.

Is there a way or a script to make PDF file generated from Illustrator with process colors only?

You could try object > flatten transparency and clear colors to preserve overprints and Spot.

I set the preset high resolution and turn on the preview to see if something dramatic is going to happen.

After that, you can check the file of color dot in the separations Preview Panel.

  • Change color when you place an eps file in inDesign

Hi everyone, I have created a document for a poster. I add a few shapes affect all CMYK colors for each... more text etc.

I then place an eps file (logo), which was set with the same CMYK colors used on some forms. Everything seems good.

When I export to PDF logo I have placed now looks different... the color that was the same thing is very different shapes I added and filled in inDesign. Thoughts?

I had never experienced this before moving to CS6. It's a thing of color management?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    Nelson

Still, any thought would be appreciated if you have an idea of what might happen.

EPS has no color management capabilities. Ensure that the assigned your illustrator and InDesign documents CMYK profiles are the same (Edit > assign profiles). Then resave as .ai and include profile

  • Change a fill color in an eps file

I have an eps file that consists of a set of white lines on a red background (CMYK) NET.

I can change the background color in the PS, using hue/saturation, but is it possible to change the background

a pantone color, while keeping the model of net in white?

Perhaps. It is difficult to give details without knowing exactly how the file is built.

If it's a shade of reason. Drag the model of the Panel of the Swatch to the artboard. Change its colors. Drag new - when you drag the back, hold the Option/Alt key until the shade of old pattern highlights then release.

It's just a guess based on a possible construction method.

  • How to reverse the colors on an EPS file with a transparent background in Adobe InDesign CS6?

    Help!

I am fairly new to InDesign and pretty basic in terms of my knowledge, but surely it can be done right?...

I have a logo EPS black and white I want to be transparent and white to put on a different colored background? (I also have a JPEG version of the logo too if it makes a difference)?

You can't - it is better to open the EPS file in its native program (probably Illustrator) and make the changes there and save it as a white version.

    Check the "transparency" when registering.

If this is not the case, use TIF.

  • Why is my eps file a color faded in PS compared to my Web site?

    Hello

I'm new to Photoshop, so please go easy.

I have a company logo on the disk in eps format.  It has been used on my Web site and business cards.  I can open the eps file in Word and is a shade of green, then you compare it to my site and the other.

When I open the eps file in Photoshop, it is a different shade this again this really pale.

Someone knows why?  I'm happy to send the eps file to anyone for them to check.

All I want is the web color version in a larger jpg format so I can use in Word documents; copy from the site Web and enlargement in the results too fuzzy a notice.

    Thank you

    Arjay...

Photoshop is a color management system, while many applications is not.  Color management is complicated real fast.  Here is a web site and its attack on the problem.  http://www.bythom.com/qadcolor.htm

But basically, if you compare the photoshop image for the same image with a program that is not color Cela management will look different.  I don't think that Word is probably not on the site and either color management.

But it depends on the color of the image profile and monitor, so like I said before things get complicated and above my paygrade.

  • White lines gradients in .eps file

    Hello

I conceived a vector in Adobe Illustrator CS6, but when saving to a .eps file, white vertical lines appear in my gradient.

What is going on? I tried the rasterize the vector at 300 PPI with anti-aliasing, but the edges look jagged (but I really want to keep it as a vector anyway)

Does anyone have an idea what I could do?

I don't know if it is relevant, but I use to deal with color (but that's only because I couldn't work properly spot colors).

  • Try to work with the EPS file in CS5

I'm completely confused. I just bought a set of borders since an online site. The borders are in EPS format. However, when I open them in Photoshop and Illustrator, they are all on a single layer.

I tried to select those that I want to use in Illustrator the using the direct Selection tool, and then to copy and paste it into PS. Only parts of the border are coming along. I'm getting lines instead of the entire block of color (they airmail stripes). If I try to use the "Select" menu or the wand magic, almost everything is selected, since all borders are borders plane red and blue!

I don't have a lot of experience in Illustrator (almost none) so I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

What I'm trying to do is to place borders around the old postcards in a digital collage.

On the other hand, I wonder what kind of clip art service presents a giant bunch of borders as an EPS file, instead of like, say, png, or at least in layers. I just throw $5 into the sewer?

    Thanks for your help/advice.

$5 seems like a lot of monet for this simple file. But $5 isn't much these days and $5 is not a big loss.

I see that you have an old version of Photoshop Extended. CC of Photoshop can restore the fabric of many, but which will set you back $10 each month.

  • Spot color CMYK implemented using linked in Illustrator from Photoshop

I need to use a black spot on some packaging. The black spot will be a sticker on the top a picture of the product that is made in Photoshop. I created the packaging in Illustrator and you need to import this file, but it must have the intact spot color. So far, I created a PSD with a spot channel, I thought was the answer but Illustrator can't read PSD files with spot channels. Then I taped an earnings per share, but when I import an EPS it shows a white rectangle as opposed to the real work.

Can someone help me with this? Thank you!!

Ok. To the CS5 version you must register a DCS 2.0

  • Difficult to save transparency in. EPS files

Hi all! I hope this isn't a stupid question, but I'm having such a hard time save knockes out groups in the .eps files!

I'm creating a logo for a client who needs a logo in eps format. In the logo, I have a few areas of transparency. I did it by creating a form, set the opacity to zero, grouping with the form, I want to cut, shape and then the opacity > piercing Group (I hope it has a feel I created see through forms). Save this logo jpg/png being without problem but when I record earnings per share and then place the eps in, say, a new document, the areas that are supposed to be transparent are appearing with an opacity of 100% white (the White is the original color I had them before rolling their opacity). Does it matter if I want to send this eps on a printer to have a model of embroidery made? Is there an easy way to work around this problem? I admit I know very little about eps files so I need help!

EPS is very old and will not correctly convert piercing group or transparency. Use rather pathfinder knockout of the form.

Donuts on the left is done with the pathfinder, those on the right with piercing group. The Green shape is just to show transparency. Top of page 2 objects are .eps placed showing the piercing unit operates only not for .eps.

You are lucky that you don't have transparency, or the mixture of modes that do not work in .eps. The gray circle is 100 %K projected 33% in the transparency palette.

  • The difficulty in reducing the size of the eps file.  He is currently a huge 707MB!

    Hello...

I can't reduce the size of an eps file.  He is currently a huge 707MB!  It is a fairly simple logo of the text (which were described) and a form, both filled with a pattern "leaf" gold. I guess this is the reason (from my color chart) which causes the problem.

My client wants the eps file and I feel I have tried everything to reduce the size I could try to find out through various forums.

Hoping that someone might have a new suggestion and any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance

You have a ground shade using a .tif image. I have rebuilt using your forms as a mask on repeated twice the width of 360 points .tif substrates.

Do you really need .eps format, it is quite outdated and ineffective. You can try to make a .pdf file.

  • How can I get a CMYK or Gray scale halftone and replace it with a spot color with the same value of midtones?

Is it possible that I can select an object or objects that have a value of mixed CMYK or Grayscale, and then select a Spot color and it will keep the same value of midtones as before?

For example, I have an object that is C: 0 M: 0 Y: 0 k: 20 and I select Reflex Blue. What is happening is it change my object to 100% Reflex Blue. Is there a way to change to automaitically Reflex Blue 20%?

Another example, I have 3 objects, one is 20 k: the second is 40 k: and the third is KC: 85. I want to select all the objects in three at the same time, select Yellow PANTONE and get them to change yellow PANTONE 20, 40 yellow PANTONE and PANTONE yellow 85.

Is there a way to do it or I will always have to manually edit each element?

    Thanks for the help.

    Select the elements to recolor

Edit > edit colors > redefine > follow my screenshots

I love clicking this button under the entitlement, one place for everything that you color reduction settings.

Use tinted scale. Exact will give you 100% of the color. The exact word is confusing here, this means that the color of the destination (100% of everything that the color you choose), not a version tinged scale.

Unfortunately I do not know how to get the exact values of blacks to convert the exact values of spot color. Scale of hues will you get you get you close enough for what you need. In my example that a black 89% converts a 84% of the place, so no exact but alteast I have a range of shades, and sometimes the results are better than accurate, depends on your art.

Here are my before and after.
