SQL Server 2005 is not uninstalled.
Nice day. I recently installed SQL Server 2005 for my XP home edition PC. Now, I try to uninstall it. Whenever I try to uninstall it, the computer goes into an endless suites in restart mode. In order to correct the loop, I set the computer to boot from his last known in the BIOS configuration. I tried different methods that I have found while passing through other forums on the internet, but everything I try results in the same way. I would like to help in the treatment of this problem so that I can reinstall it. Thank you

I have Dell Dimension 8100 with Windows XP Home Edition that has Visual Studio 2005 Express installed that has SQL Server 2005 with her. I had a problem with Windows Update and will prompt to install SQL Server 2005 SP3 KB970892 since October 14,2009. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything first and always kept getting the prompt, then I tried another solution that I got from a forum of symantec. I uninstalled the update again, and then I went into the registry to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Resume REG_DWORD and changed the value decimal from 1 to 0, installed the update and restarted the machine. It worked for the person who posted, but this has not worked for me. I waited a while hoping that Microsoft will come out with a fix for the next monthly update that has not yet happened. If anyone has a solution, please send an email to

update of sql server 2005 service pack 3 error code 6D9E Windows update security does not accept the update
Hey lasdj,
Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers site!
If you receive Windows Update error 6d9e while installing SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 by using Windows Update, it means that the installation folders and directories are compressed or encrypted.
To fix this problem, make sure the folder locations where you are installing the service pack to aren't compressed or encrypted, or specify a different folder and then run Windows Update again.
Therefore, remove the compression of the DATA directory and run together to the top again.
Remove compression from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server folder and see if you are able to install the updates without any problem.
See the links below for more details:

It isn't really the right place (better would have been the forum of Windows Update ), but see the following thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/cafab790-e540-40d3-87ba-4f64e6e82d54/

"SQL Server 2005 Setup cannot continue because the installation package could not be opened."
Hi, I use a 64 bit OS on my computer and I have a problem. AdminStudio gives an error message when running this program.
"SQL Server 2005 Setup cannot continue because the installation package could not be opened. The installation package has a missing file, or you run a single installer 32 bit on a 64-bit computer. To continue, verify the SQL Server 2005, you use the package is supported on WOW64. If you are sure that you are running a SQL Server 2005 supported packages, and you continue to see this message, contact the vendor of the application. »
What can I do about?
Thank you!
Hello again,
Thanks, I solved this problem. This program installs 32-bit as the default value in the path of the folder. This is why it does not work when everyone works beginning... But there is a solution for this topic...
Exactly the solution:
http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=22625
Note:
SQLEXPR32. EXE is a smaller package that can be used to install SQL Server Express on 32-bit operating systems only.
The larger SQLEXPR. EXE package supports installation on 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems (WOW install).
