Standard Edition One install document?

Is there a document that makes any instructions on the installation procedure Standard Edition One (DB or ACE)?

If so, would someone please post a link to the doc.

If not, someone in the land of doc Oracle please would create a mention somewhere.

[This 11.1 doc | http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28301/install002.htm] mentions the Standard Edition One installation type, if this is useful.

    DB version: 11 GR 2
Our client (a company average scale) wants to buy Standard Edition One. From the below URL I've read that it costs $180 per user.

What does that mean? Our client has 600 end users who use a Java application that connects to this database.

    Hello
No don't worry about it! Other Oracle products, it can be licensed by CPU (actually by taking a multicore CPU is considered 1 CPU SE and SE1)

  • Standard Edition One processor license

    Hello

I'm trying to get to the bottom of licensing for Standard Edition One (and also Standard Edition). I have the price of the licenses processor, but do not know if we must apply the fundamental factors that we use a single multi core processor.

The pdf of the oracle database license States the following:

"+ When licensing Oracle programs with Standard Edition or Standard Edition in the name of the product, a processor is considered equivalent to an outlet; + »

This means so if we have a single-socket quad-core processor, we don't need to apply fundamentals?

All stored advice appreciated, I dig on the site of Oracle, more confused I get.

    Concerning

    John

SE and SE One, licensing is based on the sockets. For, you can have a maximum of 4 Sockets. you don't need to hold the base factor accounts for this. The basic factor applies only in the Enterprise edition. For One allows a maximum of 2 Sockets. Please see the following link for more information:

Have you had a glance at the documentation of dataguard,

Oracle Data Guard is available only as a feature of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition. It is not available with Oracle database Standard edition.

    Note:
It is possible to simulate a boot environment of database with the Oracle Database Standard Edition databases running. You can do this by transferring manually archived redo of log files using a utility to copy of the operating system or using custom scripts that send regularly archived redo log files of one database to another. The consequence is that this configuration does not provide the functionality of recovery after disaster, the manageability, performance and ease of use available with Data Guard >

So if you want the data to be protected, use Enterprise Edition.

  • Question of commercial intelligence license standard edition

    Hello

A few years ago, my company bought Business Intelligence Standard Edition One for 50 users named more. The software was not used. Now my boss wants to know how we can use it. What the license allows me to install? (Excuse the stupid question)

    Thank you
    Radoslaw

    Hi Radoslaw,

I'm sure that you can install & use it, but you do probably not more support costs, pay only, you may be eligible for the old version of OBI SE1 comply with the license.

Best way is to find & contact Oracle representative in your area who can give you advice exact license.

  • Oracle Database - Standard edition & diagnosis Pack?

I need help, whether the following configuration is valid?

Oracle Database Standard Edition one Oracle Diagnostics and Tuning Pack

The reason I ask, it is possible to buy the Tuning Pack and the Oracle Diagnostics Pack online (he does not say it is limited to the company on the product description) and my manager wants to use it with the Standard edition. Read the MetaLink following document 1084132.1 (link below), he said that these packs are only an option if you are already running business, is this true?

So does that mean if I execute Standard, it is not possible to run, even if we buy the licenses.

    Hello

The following sections describe the Oracle Management packs. Management packs can be purchased only with Enterprise Edition. The features of these packs are available through Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control, Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control, and API provided with the Oracle database software.

  • License question: with the help of two "Standard Edition" licenses for > 8 vCPU by host

Hi, I've been reading place on it for a few hours and would like to get confirmation here.  I have

-a physical host: dual processor, 8 cores per processor

-multiple licenses VSphere 5.0 Standard edition

    -VCenter 5.0 Enterprise Edition

I want to distribute the VM with 12 vCPU and I expect to consume two licenses Standard Edition - one for each CPU, for a total of 12 vCPU.  When I try to do using VCenter I get error "virtual machine has 12 virtual processors, but the host only supports 8.»  "The number of virtual processors can be limited by the OS selected for the guest virtual computer or licensing for the host."

I think that it is a license restriction because on the same host, the VSphere evaluation has authorized the deployment of a 12 virtual machine using RHEL 6.3 vCPU.  I checked later vCPU on evaluation copy function and it was 32 channels for it proves that it is not a BONE or a physical problem.  I think I downloaded an evaluation of the 'norm' rather 'Enterprise', but I am not sure.

I read compare VMware vSphere editions and the 'Standard' column has CPU line: "CPU 1" and line vCPU: '8 - way '.  This makes me think that, for each new license, I should have a CPU with up to 8 cores.  that is by consuming two licenses, I use 2 CPU and up to 16 cores.

I also read the EULA VMware multi-core pricing and Licensing Policy , and he said:

Software licenses with six (6) cores per processor

It does not say "with hearts of six (6) software licenses by host '

    The following excerpt from the EULA is the only evidence that I could find to support the conclusion that for Standard Edition, the maximum number of vCPU for each host is 8 (regardless of the number of licenses consumed);
Combines VMware licenses on a single host software. Licensing policy allows combining the even on software licenses uniprocessor.

Someone can confirm the limitation and is there something obvious that I missed to compare VMware vSphere editions.  The difference between host and per processor is huge, I'm surprised that it is ambiguous.

    Thank you

    Diarmuid

Looking at this picture, it is said that you need 1 VMware Standard license per physical processor that your host has.  Down the chart to the vCPU, who said that a VM can have at most 8 vCPUs (for Standard).  Isn't 8 vCPUs per license, which is 8 vCPUs total.

The demo version is licensed Enterprise Plus and develops of vCPU 32 on a virtual machine.

is it like below? Anything else?

  • Oracle standard edition / standard edition license.

    Hi all

Tell me the differences between standard and Standard Edition One in on CPU/Licensing terms?

Excerpt from the Oracle software investment Guide

Oracle Database Standard Edition can only allowed on servers that
have a maximum capacity of 4 Sockets

When Oracle programs with Standard Edition One of licenses or
Standard edition in the name of the product, a processor is considered equivalent to one
Jack occupied; However, in the case of each chip, multi-chip modules in the
multi chip module is counted as an occupied socket.

I have Intel xeon Quad Core CPU which takes place an outlet.

    (i) so that it is counted as chip 4 so 4 socket?
(II) or is considered 1 plug?
(III) should I always take note of the Oracle processor Core factor Table (the software investment guide says nothing for oneself)

    Kind regards
    Alan

To make oracle SE 1 = 1 CPU license, except when the socket accepts several (not hearts) chips specifically IBM Q Series servers have taken on the main Board that accept a card with two processors on this subject, should be 2 permits for standard edition. A grey area is chips with two separate completely dies in-house, the best is to contact the Sales Department of oracle and give them the specification of the server and they can then provide the exact metric of licenses.
