Start menu slow to load

When I first log into Windows and everything finally loaded, the first time I go to my Start Menu may take 15 seconds to load the box after hovering over all programs and then another 10-15 seconds to fill the box with program files.

I have about 30 points or more in my own menu user start, as long as all users.

Is there a way to speed up this initial period in the Start Menu?

I have no installed desktop enhancement.

Hello

To change the start menu display interval, follow these steps:

Click Start-> Run & Type-> regedt32
Click HKEY_CURRENT_USER on Local computer-> Control Panel-> folder on the desktop.
Double-click the MenuShowDelay value and enter a number representing the time display menu (in number of milliseconds) in the string box-> click OK.
(You can enter any whole number between 0 and 4 000. If you use an entry of 0, there is no menu display time)
Exit the registry editor and restart the computer.

I hope this helps.

    1. Restart your computer.

    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.

    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

If you tried to log on to Windows and received an error message telling you that your user profile is damaged, you can try to fix it. You will need to create a new profile and then copy the files from the existing to the new profile. You must have at least three user accounts on the computer to perform these operations, including the new account that you created.

  • Very slow Win7 start menu search

I have win7 Professional 64-bit, and the search for the start menu is now very slow.

It used to be instant, but now it takes a good 10 seconds to return results. The results are accurate, just very slow. When searching the process explorer.exe maxes a CPU for the duration of the search until the results are returned - it's almost as if the search on the start menu is not using indexing service, but rather the search for all the files using a conventional search.

I have rebuilt the index several times and it had no effect.

I checked options of indexing and 'users' and 'Start menu' folder are included in the index.

I ran to the resolution of the problems of indexing, and found no problem.

Interestingly, if I search also using Explorer it works very well - results are returned quickly and simply from the start menu, almost instantly-it research that the problem occurs.

    An interesting observation:

When I turn off "Hide protected operating system files" research flies along.

If I allow it so it hides the files it runes very very slow.

Update: more survey shows that even a whole new user profile suffers the same symptoms. As soon as you hide protected operating system files analysis research on the navigation bar (as if it's a manual route). Show protected files and it's instantaneous.

    Hello

Thanks for asking this question to Microsoft Community.

I'll try and help you get the problem solved, however please answer to these questions.

    1. Since when are you facing the issue?
    2. Do you have any security program installed in the computer?
    3. Are logged as administrator?
    4. What is the brand and model of the computer?
    5. Are you aware of any changes made to the computer before the show?

Let us perform a startup repair that may help you resolve the issue.

Startup Repair is a Windows Vista recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as system files missing or damaged that may prevent Windows from starting correctly. When you run the Startup Repair, it scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so that your computer can start correctly.

Follow the instructions in the link below to perform the Startup Repair.

Hope this helps and let us know if you need more assistance. We will be happy to help you.

  • Windows 8 How to revive the desktop and the Start Menu?

Hello, if you are using Windows 8, sometimes we are asked to open the Task Manager and close some programs for performance reasons. Strangely, programs that have been closed with the X button at the top right are still reported running and need to be stopped manually via Task Manager! During the closure of the "Desktop" program (Yes, it is in the list and it is possible to simply close), how it can be restored? Where doesn't he disappears and with it also the Start Menu? You can absolutely close, for sure.  But, apps Store of Windows cannot do the slower computer.  Memory is marked as 'open for use' and can be erased and reused for any new process in the clock cycle (approximately a 1000th of a second), then it poses absolutely no load on the system just let them "running" forever.  Developers sometimes refer to this frozen as "tomb-stoned.  This is the reason for the new model of application development, so that the users do not have to worry about closing or opening an application. They just use the computer and do what they want without a slowdown.  You know, like the iPad :)
