Dataguard, what is the purpose of initPROD_noaq.ora instead of initPROD.ora?

Thank you all,

  • Why my RMAN to archivelog backups do not end in ORACLE_HOME/dbs?

    DB version: 11.2
    Platform: Solaris 10

    I noticed that the elements of rman backup containing archivelogs end in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory despite using the format parameter. This happened for the level 0 AND level 1 backups.

    I know that the backup files result in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs when you forget to specify the FORMAT. But the FORMAT is included in my Level0 and level 1 Scripts as shown below. Is there something else wrong with my scripts L0 and L1?

    Here's my Level0 and level 1 backup scripts

    -Level0
    run
    {
    allocate channel LEVEL0_TBLQA device type disk;
    crosscheck backup;
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    backup as backupset incremental level 0 database format='/u04/dbfiles/RMAN_bkp/tblqa/TBLQA_full_%U_%T.bkp' plus archivelog delete input;
    release channel LEVEL0_TBLQA;
    }
    -Level 1
    run {
    backup as compressed backupset incremental level 1 database format='/u04/dbfiles/RMAN_bkp/tblqa/TBLQA_L1_%U_%T.bkp' plus archivelog delete all input;
    }
    This DB uses the control as a catalog file.

    backup as backupset effective additional 0 database format='/u04/dbfiles/RMAN_bkp/tblqa/TBLQA_full_%U_%T.bkp' more entered archivelog delete;

    backup as backupset effective additional 1 database format='/u04/dbfiles/RMAN_bkp/tblqa/TBLQA_L1_%U_%T.bkp Tablet ' more archivelog delete all entries;

    This is because the format that you specified is good only until the database backup (backup format compressed backupset effective additional 1 database "... ") and not for the log archiving in your script. Therefore, the archivelog backups stored in the location of $ORACLE_HOME/dbs and the backup of the database gets stored in the format location you mentioned in your RMAN script.

    Instead, you can use as below:

    run
    {
    allocate channel LEVEL0_TBLQA device type disk format '/u04/dbfiles/RMAN_bkp/tblqa/TBLQA_full_%U_%T.bkp';
    crosscheck backup;
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    backup as backupset incremental level 0 database plus archivelog delete input;
    release channel LEVEL0_TBLQA;
    }

  • Question about a type of file being created in ORACLE_HOME/dbs

    DB version: 11.1.0.7.0

    Operating system: aix 6.1

    The directory ORACLE_HOME/dbs, as well as spfiles, password file, I can do with the file naming
    hc_<instance_name>.dat
    What is this file?

    Directly from MOS: what is the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/hc_.dat file? [390474.1 ID]

    It is a file used for the verification of health monitoring.

  • RMAN cryptic file in my directory in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs

    the following commands are issued:

    RMAN catalog rman/pwd@catalog target sys/pwd@target msglog ' < archive_directory > / msglog.log' Add

    I then issue
    backup of database format =' < archive_directory > / %U ';

    Now the part clugy. RMAN creates a file in my home directory in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs called c-2723735747-20100218-02. I have no idea what this file is or why it is created there. I thought I had my bases covered by clause msglog and format in my backup command. Any help is greatly appreciated because I'm out of ideas.

    Hello

    After setting will create a file snapcf. They are also copies of control files.

    CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO ' / disk1/oracle/dbs/snapcf_ev.f';

    Concerning

  • Several instance to the same server with same ORACLE_HOME and same SID

    Hello gurus, reduce costs my company looks to reduce the backup servers and the databases consolidade waiting on big 2 or 3 servers to reduce oracle licenses.
    It is that I have about 30 cases with SID same how to configure it to run as 10 instances with the same SID, ORACLE_HOME in the same machine? is this possible?

    will run oracle on unix HP - UX 11r2

    BR

    TI

    Right. Each database will have own SID. With multiply tnsnames.ora and listener.ora all have entries for each standby.

    If the folder structure is different from primary then the DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT and LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT parameters are used to convert to the new locations.
    These two taking input in two, the front of the location and the location after.

    Example:

    DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT=('/u01/app/oracle/oradata/RECOVER2', '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/RECLONE','/u01/oradata/RECOVER2','/u01/oradata/RECLONE')
    LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT=('/u01/app/oracle/flash_recovery_area/RECOVER2', '/u01/app/oracle/flash_recovery_area/RECLONE')

    Standby for each primary SID can be all that you need. The DB_NAME parameter would be the same on both, but DB_UNIQUE_NAME would be different.

    Who is?

    So, if I have two PRIMARY and standby database, Eve will have its own password, its own file INIT file to its own directory structure (but it could be the same).

    Best regards

  • Install PT8.53 with Linux: the parameter file "init.ora" question CONTROL_FILE

    People,

    I install PeopleTools 8.53 with Linux. I'm confused on the parameter CONTROL_FILES in the file "init.ora". My SID is PT853 with the file "initPT853.ora". In the document setup 8.53 PeopleTools, there are 2 statements about CONTROL_FILES parameter like below:

    First of all, Page 161 task b 6-1-3: create an INIT < SID >. ORA file

    CONTROL_FILES = (/ filesystem1/cntrl1 < SID >, / filesystem2/cntrl2 < SID >)

    Second, Page 162 task b 6-1-4: creating paths of target directory

    CREATEDB10. SQL script:

    startup nomount pfile = $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init < SID > .ora

    data file
    ' / u01/oradata / < SID > / system01.dbf' size 400M

    logfile
    ' / u01/oradata / < SID > / log01.dbf'M 70, size
    ' / u01/oradata / < SID > / log02.dbf'M 70, size
    ' / u01/oradata / < SID > / log03.dbf' size M 70;

    Control file references:
    control_files = ("" / u01/oradata/test92/control01.ctl "," / u01/oradata/test92/control02.ctl "," / u01/oradata/test92/control03.ctl "")

    When we created PeopleTools 8.53 of database using $PT_HOME/setup/PsMpDbInstall/setup.sh, we need to specify the mount point for the scripts createdb.sql, the utlspace.sql and the xxddl.sql. I use / U01 for all 3 scripts and create the directory/u01/oradata/PT853/manually.

    My questions are:

    Firstly, should the 2 items "/ filesystem1/cntrl1 < SID > ' and ' / filesystem2/cntrl2 < SID > ' CONTROL_FILES be the same with the directory path/u01/oradata/PT853/created manually?

    Second, should "/ filesystem1/cntrl1 < SID >" be changed to "/u01/oradata/PT853/cntrl01PT853.ctl and" / filesystem2/cntrl2 < SID > "be changed to" / u01/oradata/PT853/cntrl02PT853.ctl "in my case?

    Thirdly, how to create 2 files 'cntrl01PT853.ctl' and 'cntrl02PT853.ctl '? What are their contents?

    Thank you.

    I believe you are trying to create a demo database without understanding of basic on the RDBMS - your last question (to the control file) suggests.

    Work with your DBA on the part of database creation.

    Please go through the oracle database documentation to get a basic understanding of different files in oracle.

    Now, to answer your questions.

    1. Yes, anything you give in the init ora for parameter control_files file previously should exist while you run your createdb10.sql

    2. change any way you plan make the db files resident. Suppose you want the database in a path like/path/to/database/MYDB - to give him.

    3. you create control separately (in your case) files, the path/name of the file is taken from the init ora file and created as you run create sql db
    Content of the control file is in binary format: this is the heart of a database, holds all the information on the database, the name of db, file system, places change number etc...

  • Moving control files; That I should stop after step 5?

    DB version: 10 gr 2

    I need to move the control files DBs to a new file system. I have prepared the following steps.
    Step1. create pfile from spfile

    Step2. shutdown immediate

    Step3. Using cp command, copy control files to the new location.

    step 4. startup NOMOUNT pfile=$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init.ora;

    step5. ALTER SYSTEM SET CONTROL_FILES='new_location' SCOPE=spfile;

    step6. startup
    I read somewhere in OTN Instance needs a stop after step 5. Should an afte step5 stop the Forum? The database is not mounted. Right?

    ALTER SYSTEM SET CONTROL_FILES = "nouvel_emplacement";
    no need to bounce back.

    Julien,
    CONTROL_FILES parameter requires a rebound.

    Pete,
    The database may not be mounted or open but the instance has started in nomount stage and you have to stop the instance. While its always good to make a backup of spfile, go CONTROL_FILES, you don't need to start using pfile. That's all you need to do.

    1. IMMEDIATE STOP

    2. copy control files to the new location.

    3 STARTUP NOMOUNT; -It now uses the spfile to start and now uses the old control files.

    4 issue the command ALTER SYSTEM SET CONTROL_FILES as

    SQL>ALTER SYSTEM SET CONTROL_FILES='/u02/oracle/ctrl_files/CONTROL01.CTL',-
     '/u02/oracle/ctrl_files/CONTROL02.CTL',-
     '/u02/oracle/ctrl_files/CONTROL03.CTL' SCOPE=spfile;

    System altered.

    5. stop the instance

    SQL > SHUTDOWN;
    ORA-01507: database not mounted

    ORACLE instance stops.

    6. start-up

  • How can I specify location of the control file when the manual creation of DB?

    DB version: 11.2.0.4

    OS: Oracle Linux 6.6

    The CREATE DATABASE command creates the control file.

    CREATE DATABASE command is executed once you start the instance in NOMOUNT State as shown below.

    SQL > create database 'BRCPRD '.

    < snipped >

    When you create the database manually, we can define the control_files parameter in the init.ora as below and control file will be created at this location. Right?

    control_files = ("" / u01/oradata/BRCPRD/BRCPRD_control01.ctl","/u01/oradata/BRCPRD/BRCPRD_control02.ctl "")

    When I was generating the DB using DBCA GUI creation scripts, it asks to enter the location of the Online redo logs and control files.

    I entered my desired location. But, I couldn't find CONTROL_FILES parameter in the init.ora file generated the DBCA. This is why I got confused. I think that DBCA is internally somehow. So thought I'd post it here.

    Hi John, OP

    Just checked the init.ora file created by DBCA. Although the parameter CONTROL_FILES is undefined, db_create_file_dest = '+ DATA_DG1' was created. OMF default location is defined by the db_create_file_dest parameter.

    So, I could safely use this script for the manual creation of DB, and during the CREATE DATABASE command execution, oracle will place CONTROL_FILES + DATA_DG1 using the format;

    +DiskGroup/dbname/filetype/filetypetag.file.incarnation

  • Cloning of boredom

    I can't clone a database.  It worked, but I'm not sure what I'm doing differently now.  First of all I have the database backup.

    BACKUP DATABASE

    FORMAT ' / ora2/adhoc_bkp/HEPRD_5_2_2014_%u.bak'

    TAG HEPRD_ADHOC_2014_05_23

    I think that the backup will be a backupset and compressed it is defined as the default value

    SET UP THE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 3 TYPE OF BACKUP TO COMPRESSED BACKUPSET;

    After the backup I would then sftp files on the server where I want to make the clone

    Then I would start the auxiliary instance using an init file

    STARTUP NOMOUNT PFILE=$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init2.ora FORCE

    Finally, I was running a double using the following.

    DUPLICATE THE TARGET TO HEUPX DATABASE

    SET CONTROL_FILES='/m60/oradata/HEUPX/control01.ctl ',' / d60/oradata/HEUPX/control02.ctl',

    The problem that I get is that it keeps telling me

    RMAN-05569: backup SPFILE not found in/ora2/adhoc_bkp

    So I don't understand why he can't see the backup.  Is it because I'm doing a backupset?  What Miss me

    Hello

    It would not be able to see the SPFILE in the BACKUP LOCATION ' / ora2/adhoc_bkp "; The BACKUP LOCATION "/ ora2/adhoc_bkp /'."

    You could also LIST BACKUP and see when the last backup SPFILE or first take a quick backup of spfile.

  • Duplicate database RMAN 11 GR 2 ORA-17627 ORA-01017 RMAN-03009 ORA-17628

    Hello

    I'm getting ORA-17627: ORA-01017: name of user and password invalid. connection refused when using the RMAN duplicate on the same host using the account Oracle DBA. The system is Linux Oracle and Oracle 11.2.0.1 5.5

    I tested the connectivity and passwords and everything works fine. What could be the reason of this problem please?

    Details below:

    Thank you.

    H3. Summary of the solution:

    A big thank you to all who responded! The problem is solved finally :-)

    The ORA-17627: ORA-01017 has been corrected using the connection string to connect to the target database, instead of target rman / in the command prompt
    $ rman
    RMAN> connect target sys/password@orcl
    RMAN> connect auxiliary sys/password@clonedb
    RMAN> duplicate target database to clonedb from active database;
    However, there was still another question:
    channel ORA_DISK_1: starting datafile copy
    input datafile file number=00001 name=+DATA/orcl/datafile/system.256.737564331
    RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_DISK_1 channel at 12/29/2010 14:40:21
    ORA-17628: Oracle error 19505 returned by remote Oracle server
    continuing other job steps, job failed will not be re-run
    The alert.log to the auxiliary database (clonedb) shows:

    Errors in the /u01/app/oracle/diag/rdbms/clonedb/clonedb/trace/clonedb_ora_6129.trc file:
    ORA-19505: impossible to identify the file ' / scratch/oradata/clonedb/datafile/orcl/datafile/system.256.737564331 '.
    ORA-27040: create file error, cannot create the file
    Linux-x86_64 error: 2: no such file or directory

    I fixed the problem by changing the following text in the settings of the clonedb instance file:

    * .db_file_name_convert =('+Data/ORCL/','/Scratch/oradata/clonedb/')
    * .log_file_name_convert =('+Data/ORCL/onlinelog/','/Scratch/oradata/clonedb/logfile/')

    Thank you!

    Hi guy,
    Please configure the tnsnames and auditor of the target and auxiliary.
    That set the script to use OIC to connect in both instances like this:

    connect target sys/test@orcl
    connect auxiliary sys/test@clonedb

    Please after the release.
    Kind regards

  • Database Configuration utility - huray? :-/

    Hello (again, sigh).

    I want to install PeopleSoft FCM 9.1 and Yes, having no experience with the installation of PeopleSoft I decided to use the database Configuration utility, using the article provided by Nicolas Gasparotto as a guide:
    http://Gasparotto.blogspot.com/2009/12/DB-Wizard-850-for-Oracle-on-Linux.html
    as well as the Oracle Documentation. In the guide above, I should be up to step 9.

    This is the log that I get after failing to create the database:

    The SEED is just a small database I created earlier to test connectivity between my servers - just a little crutch for me to see at least some progress. But it shows that Oralce is available, is it not?
    This who can I check/recheck?

    Looks like I'm starting to be a regular here on the forums boast help :D

    Thank you in front of me,
    Honza.

    These scripts are coming within the installation of the Application (HCM in your case) under $PS_HOME/scripts/unix, it seems that you missed this step and installed only Peopletools.

  • 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.1 reclassification; a fundamental question about ORACLE_HOME

    Operating system: Solaris 5.10

    I did only the updates of the Group of hotfixes. It is the first time that I do a upgrade version to another.

    That's what I heard in ID 429825.1.

    To upgrade a 10.2.0.4 DB to 11.2.0.1

    Step 1. Install 11.2.0.1 (software only) in a separate House

    If my current 10.2.0.4 ORACLE_HOME is /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db
    then install 11.2.0.1 software in /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db

    Step 2. Run utlu112i.sql and solve all the problem mentioned in the output

    Step 3. Stop the db 10g

    Step 4. Copy the new file inti.ora with the new 11g setting in the ORACLE_HOME/dbs 11.2

    Step 6. Set ORACLE_HOME as a new ORACLE_HOME 11.2

    Step 7. set the ORACLE_SID for 10g DB and starts in UPGRADE mode
    startup upgrade pfile=11g_R2HOME/dbs/init.ora
    8. Run 11gR2_home/rdbms/admin/catupgrd.sql

    My question concerns step 6. How can you start a 10.2.0.4 DB after you set the ORACLE_HOME a 11.2 House?

    The previous poster, exactly gave you the best recommendations.
    regarding your question on step 6 (maybe 7 or you meant) so the answer is that you start up using 'upgrade', not normal mode. You are starting/editing the 'old' database of version under the new oracle_home/binary software and do the scripts (catupgrd.sql) special to upgrade the database itself. Saying in other words, start upgrade is not startup, it opens a database in a special mode

  • Confusion about DBCA script generated for the manual creation of CARS DB

    Version:11.2.0.4/RHEL 6.3

    We create our 3-node RAC database manually.  DBCA can satisfy our needs because our redo log files, data, control and tempfiles files files are placed in a complicated way. If we use DBCA, we spend a lot of time configuration to our requirements after the creation of the DB.

    I generated scripts for creating DB of DBCA (name of the BD = BRCFPRD)

    DBCA placed the creation of db scripts in the directory specified in all 3 nodes!

    They all have nearly the same content. The only difference being the name of the instance (BRCFPRD12.sql for Node2,... etc.).

    Scripts in each node have the createDB.sql statement that has CREATE DATABASE 'BRCFPRD' statement. Why is it? The database should only be created from a node. Then why DBCA place createDB.sql in all nodes?

    I want to just run the script of a single node, say Node1 and it should create the RAC 3-node DB. How can I do this manually?
