  What you see is the tool options palette.

  The interface has been changed from 11 items on.

  It seems logical to view options when a new tool is selected. If you don't want to, look at the upper right of the tool options palette. You can open a menu in which you remove the check mark in the box to automatically display the tools/options.

  Yes, by running a scan was the first thing I've done - nothing works, I might add. BitDefender is not and was not installed on my system - but it's a part of the configuration of Firefox. Just after I posted my question I have figure out how to get that box off my screen - don't ask me what I've done because I don't remember.

  Usually, a bad end cable will not cause you have. It could be one of the items you listed, but could also be the encoder being dirty in this place. Most of the time it's the belt as a defect in a bad belt could stop at the same place. If the sheath is a problem most of the time it stops at the opening of the left side.
