  Yes, quite probably a compatibility issue. CS3 used an older model of compatibility, which long has been surpassed by newer versions of DX. However, still does backward compatible, so the problems you might have may depend on requiriung a specific driver, installing the legacy DirectX or as a minor, full support by changing some permissions on the system to allow the loading of drivers unsigned legacy and compatibility modes. It's a problem more complex that simply flipping a switch eitrher average. Check your device manager and then work your way through...

  You can not.

  I recommend you use Audacity, a freeware sound editor who can do the job as long as you want. In addition, you can change the sound files after. Google for it. Also download the Lame encoder if you want to work with mp3 files.

  This should open your temporary files folder, look for a file named ART___.tmp that allows to change _. If you find, copy it on your desktop and rename the file you want and Add .wmv in the end.

  If you meant 'Windows 7' then use the audio troubleshooters in Control Panel, troubleshooting.

  If this does not help, check the devices errors & drivers updated in Device Manager.

As the machine apparently has a sound card with the inputs and outputs, it's quite strange. Surely, you have actually to plug something in the front entrance on the side of registration comes into force?

  Usually, you can use the external microphone for sound recording.

  1. open the 'control panel' (Standard view)
  2. click on 'hardware and sound '.
  3. click on "sound."
  4. click on the "Recording" tab

  You should see all the available recording devices. If only one microphone is available so that you can only use this device for sound recording!

  Went to this for an hour and I tried all the previous solutions. I've updated, uninstalled/reinstalled, restart the computer, shoot bad, etc., but nothing seems to solve my audio.   Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. It's a great site for information and questions. I looked in your question about your computer laptop HP ENVY 15 x 360 and questions with no sound. Here's a documenton troubleshooting sounds if you need it.

  Please ensure that your edits were made on the laptop. In under his right click Device Manager and update driver. This is another step to try.

  1. right click the speaker icon in the lower right corner of your time.
  2. click on playback devices.
  3. click on speakers/headphones.
  4. click on properties.
  5. click on the Advanced tab in the Properties window.
  6. change the default menu Format in the highest quality.
  7. apply properties.
  8. click OK to close the Properties window.
  9. click OK to close the playback devices.

  You have run audio problem shooters? in research of type 'help' (without the quotes), in the list click on troubleshooting. Click hardware and sound, run the shooters of audio problems.

  If you type 'soundrecorder' in the search box, it find anything? and that if you click above the fact that run?

  If you open a command and navigate to C:\windows\system32 (this is for 32-bit windows, it can be different for 64 bit) and do a DIR penny *. * (i.e. find all files starting with Penny) is SoundRecorder.exe listed?

  If it is, and you type SoundRecorder(type soundrecorder in the command prompt and press the enter/return key) it turns then?

  You can do this last piece (command prompt) in Explorer if you prefer.

  My 1900-303 doesn't let me save to CD. It seems to work then comes up with an error message asking me to '... ". change drive or firmware update... "I went to the Toshiba download pages and downloaded the firmware stuff and then extracted and downloaded (I think!), finish the book with a reboot.
