  I fixed the problem thanks to what joelj1964 says "fixmycomp".   System Restore IS NOT the way to remove malware. The reason why you do not see the effects of the malware in safe mode is probably due to the fact that the process for most malware does not load in safe mode, and therefore not active.

  Restart the computer in Safe Mode with network. Click HERE. Download Malwarebytes. Update Malwarebytes and perform a full scan.  Choose to quarantine found nothing.   Yesterday I used system restore to restore my computer from a restore point when I had problems burning files to disk. The restoration seems to go smoothly. However, now I can't access power from the taskbar options (I use a laptop) or the control panel. When I click the icon, nothing happens. So, I tried to open the system to always restore in mind to find a different restore point. However, when I right click on "Computer" in the start menu and click on 'Properties', the same thing happens: nothing. It's the same, click "Recovery" in the control panel.
  Therefore, I entered "rstrui.exe" from the command prompt and finally got to come system restore window. However, there are an error message that says:
  "System restore is not seem to work correctly on this system." An element of Volume Shadow Copy Service has encountered an unexpected error. Check the log of events applications for more information. (0 x 80042302)
  So I typed "Services.msc" in the start menu and clicked on it, but yet again, nothing happens.
  Right now I'm running a scan with Malwarebytes malware, after which I intend to try to do a restore of the system in safe mode, but I fear that it won't work because I already tried to start safe mode power options and it did not work (that was before I realized the system restore was not functional).
  Can someone please? Thank you.

  Edit: both pis. I was able to fix the problem with sfc/scannow from an elevated command prompt. There were files corrupt system that have been properly repaired. Now the system restore works, but it is no longer necessary.

  When I pressed "del" and got the installer, I looked in the first box, product information.

  This info was typed in a field of google search on a working pc, and I discovered that I could restore my pc by pressing the ALT key and pressing F8 repeatedly. It will work for Acer Asprire anyway. Just an idea for all those who were distraught as I was and knew nothing about the restoration or what my pc really was. I was lucky and got my restored xp, it works ok and I enjoy it once more.

I wanted to update some of my drivers and when I tried to open the page the system restore to create a restore point, the page is empty.  Later when I had questions, I tried to do a search and I have basically the same question. The search page opens with the puppy in the blue box, but nothing else.  Someone has seen this before and can help you.   I'm doing a restore of the system as well and it keeps telling me it can't restore to the day, I chose. I tried it in regular and I now do in safe mode with no luck.  I run MBAM and SAS and only found some cookeis get rid of.  IM on XP pro sp3 and the reason to want go back, is that for some reason, some of my programs have been moved (paint and Calculator have been deleted unless I use RUN: to find them) and then my documents folder is now inaccessible.  I need a restore point at work and soon!

  I did a system restore and now whenever I try to open a message in windows live mail, it says "a problem has occurred." trying to open this message "there was a problem." "please try again."

• System Restore blocks never, never complete Windows day & installation of new programs gel updates.

  Greetings!

  After a scheduled update of Windows Vista, automatic updates has stopped working, among many other things:

  In manual mode, the progress bar hangs at 0% of the first update and never shows progress.

  When I try to shut down the PC (HP Pavilion s3241la computer desktop Slimline), the same story: set automatic start installation, but with no progress and in the end, I have to turn off the PC the way lasts.

  In Control Panel-> system of-> System Protection, I see no point of system restore, the system maintains "research" for always for these points but poster ever one and HARD drive shows no activity; the console "System Restore... ' is not too available, this is the button is grayed.

  No matter what program I try to install or to upgrade never ends, facilities simply wants.

  Help! How can I solve this?, the system is a production unit & it is not easy to stop all activities to perform a reinstallation from scratch.

  After you use all 3 methods to solve the malfunction of the system, I am sorry to say that none worked.

  Method 1 makes no difference once the antivirus went.

  Method 2 has found no breach of integrity or something similar and rolling back to a previous restore point did not help also.

  Method 3 turned the system in a very unstable state, and at the end, I was forced to do a full backup of my data and restore the computer to the BONES of the original factory configuration.

  Thanks anyway, and I hope that this situation will never happen because there is no easy way to solve it.
