• How to remove a basedOn style without losing the bet in shape

  I have a problem that I solved in my case, but I wonder if there is a cleaner solution. I have a function that removes the basedOn of a paragraph style or a character style that is passed. I thought that it worked, but it came to my attention that the character styles were losing their formatting when their basedOn style has been deleted (in fact, the value '[No Style character]'). Set the style basedOn the "[None]" style has the same effect. I also tried to create a dummy no style and use it as my base, same effect. When you do this through InDesign UI, the formatting is preserved, so I think it's a bug. My solution has been to create a new character style, all properties of the first style (except basedOn and properties) copy on it, delete the original style (replace with the new style), and then rename the new style to match the old. Far as I can tell it works, but it seems exaggerated. Does anyone have a better suggestion or hint?

  [INITIAL QUESTION: is it possible to add a cover sheet to an InDesign document without affecting the numbering of existing page?] I have a series of chapters in a book that should be displayed individually and require a cover sheet. Each chapter to start on a recto page, and the page numbering is set with a prefix (the chapter number) and a page number, for example, page 1.1. I can manage to add the map coverage without other brewing pages, but the cover page becomes always page 1.1 and the text begins on page 1.2 (even if it's a front page). Is it possible to do without having to manually reset the numbering of the pages in the Section and Numbering Options window?

  Thanks for the reply. I found a different way to keep the pages of shift, but adding that the two pages and then deleting one of them is simpler, thank you!  The numbering of the pages still changes, then perhaps there is no other way than to manually change the numbering and section options afterwards (or writing a script, which is well above my head!). The rats, because I have about 160 of these documents to do. Ah, well!

• How can I force a paragraph style without losing the italics?

  This has been annoying me for ages. I work on documents in Word, using italics for book titles, etc. and then import them into indesign. I apply a paragraph style and three out of four times the bits in italics are preserved. However, the fourth time the paragraph style does not (probably due to the presence of italics) and I have to force him to do it using Alt-click. Invariably, the italics is replaced by Roman.

  It happens earlier with a bunch of notes and endnotes in a book, I'm working on and means I have to go back through each of them, manually applying italics to my books and reference titles. Is it possible to force a paragraph of note/reference style without losing the text in italics?

  I'm not sure that long-term planning is needed here.

  If your only concern loses italics when importing from Word, create,.

  in InDesign, an italic character style. Then do a search and replace

  in the document, InDesign (once you have placed the Word file)

  looking for an italics, formatting and replacing with your italics

  character style.

  Who will save you from losing your italic formatting.

  Repeat for bold, bold italic, exponent, index and nothing else

  the author uses.

  There are scripts that help in this process (I think one of them is

  called "preptext", by Jongware).

  Use findGrep() (or findText()) instead of changeText(). This returns an array of items found. Then, you can loop through the array and apply a paragraph style without erasing the replacements (the 2nd parameter must be false).

  Hello community! I have just recently started making my own PDF files and I can't for the life of understand me how to do the cover to say 'Cover' in the page number box. I googled around without result, I also tried the option number of pages, and it tells me that there is "no page named didn't cover" or something to that effect.   I got the cover of the keyboard (not cheap but decent), and I use it everytime I open my macbook.

  However, I heard that it would be dangerous to leave the keypad cover when you close the macbook. Because it could hurt the sensitive retina screen.

  Is this true?

  I have used Moshi Clearguard kb current covers on two MacBook Pro, including retina mid-2014, I usually use closed with my Apple display 27 ". I put KB covers on as soon as I bought computers and have never deleted without fingers never touched my keys. I did it because I saw how dirty the kbs in the Apple Store, and the seller told me that once the black keys are oily, it is impossible to clean completely. I started with a silicone rubber cap. Three weeks later, I threw it in disgust and I bought a Moshi to replace.

  Moshi rugs are much thinner and lighter than the silicone rubber ones more adapted, hold their shape better, stay clear longer and are much easier to clean and type through. In addition to the one on my computer Ko, I keep one on the external Apple wireless keyboard which is always exposed on my desk. These caches really keep particulate crud, and they do not interfere with my typing at all. When they are dirty, I rub it in the sink with a detergent and a brush to vegetables, and when possible discoloration becomes noticeable after three or four years, I replace it with new ones.

  My previous MBP, a Core 2 Duo late 2008 unibody model, allows to get much hotter than my current on occasion, and I fear sometimes that heat buildup between the lowercase and the display closed would cook the KB cover or even the screen itself. But that never happened, but I guess it might have helped if any yellowing of the coverage.

  If use you Moshi hiding for seven years, I would never consider a time using a silicone back cover. I did not, and you shouldn't worry about all to close your view on a Moshi.

  In general, when you get the error "The cover is open", even when the lid is closed, it is caused by the sensor that tells the printer when the lid is closed is broken. When that happens, it really isn't something you can do. You can try to do a hard reset to see if maybe the message is just to come because of a glitch. If this does not work, you will need to replace the printer. If you are still in warranty, HP can replace the printer without cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below.   I worked on issues related to the time to do a full scan with MSE.  I discovered that the MSE scan spent 4 hours going through the files in "\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\App Data\Local\Microsoft\Media Player\Art Cache\Local MLS". With the information of the community, I was finally able to access these files and watch. I was more then a bit surprised to find that the cover is the cover art for tracks I have in iTunes. I deleted some files and found out that the cover for iTunes still works. Windows Media Player is not just music cover art.

  So anyone know why Windows Media Player load cover art files on my system for iTunes titles? It loads the same cover for each track in an album don't ask me there are as many files in this folder.
