The mouse icon moves firmly around the screen

Original title: floating freely icon mouse?

When you move the icon on the screen, it does not move firmly/precisely...feels almost as another hand is control.

Hi Claire,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

In order to help you better, please provide us with the following information:

  1. Using a wired or wireless mouse or a touchpad?
  2. Using a laptop or desktop?
  3. Check the behavior by plugging another mouse.

According the description, I understand that the mouse icon is not mobile firmly across the screen. I suggest methods and check them off below if it helps:

1. check your mouse for dirt or debris if you use a wired mouse. To check debris, flip the mouse and twist the casing around the ball. It should run free, allowing you to remove it. Check the mouse cover and the area around the compartment of mice for the forests of dust that can keep the ball from rolling freely.

2. determine if a recent update is causing your mouse drifting on a laptop. Click on the "Start" menu and open the "Control Panel". Click on "System and Maintenance" and then click "Backup and Restore Center." Select a restore point and to reinstall updates one by one to determine what update causes your cursor problem.

3. disconnect your mouse if you use a cable one and make sure that your USB port is free of debris. Plug the mouse back and if the problem is resolved.

4 update your device driver by right-clicking on "My computer", then clicking on "Properties" and then clicking on the tab "Hardware" "Device Manager." Find your mouse driver, right click and select "update driver software".

I suggest you to refer the below link and try to change the mouse settings and check:

    Hi Peter,

    1. have you done any recent hardware or software changes to the computer before the show?

I tried the clean boot and now the hard drive works simply and screen went black. The mouse still moves around the screen without any outher work keys? That is what it is?

    Hello

You will need to reverse the clean boot, as it is either incidental compared to
the real cause of the problem. What, where you try to fix initially using the cleanboot?

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If so you can try the configuration - control panel
The Device Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click the driver UPDATE - then
Right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure) is
CTRL + ALT + DEL and the processes tab find EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - and then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is reached
by tapping F8 as you start several times.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all patch is usually on a base hit or miss.
That there is no information on a black screen as it is on a blue screen just adds to the
Difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect. You can try a

  • Windows 7, normal use - mouse freezes when you move around the screen

Hi there I use Win7 since the RC1 of scene and found it rock solid, I'm now running Windows 7 Enterprise. I installed it on a Dell XPS 1710 and had few problems so far. When I start my computer and you move the mouse around the screen, the mouse "hangs" for a second or two, then moves, then crashes again. In even the startup sound I is unstable, as are MP3 when I play those. All these things worked * perfectly * until a lock suddenly toward the top of the computer having been on during a few hours, which was a new event. The computer haddnt overheating but since then this nervousness thing that happened.

    What I tried:

Selective startup, without the elements of startup and services, without change.
Search for new drivers for my card (Nvidia 7950GTX) gfx, no change.
Shut down the computer to turn off this device to save power 'allow' in the option of USB hub root

None of that helped him. The CPU spikes 16% at most when you the mosue blocking, I have a lot of RAM available. Occurs when I use the touchpad as well and even when I'm not running all programs - oh, I have a Microsoft Intelli Mouse 5 button.

Hopfully somebody can provide some more ideas for me. Thanks in advance

  • When I move my mouse, the screen zooms in or the pointer shapes

I have a laptop, I use a mouse pad, not a real mouse.  Often, when I'm in a document or on the internet, if I move my finger on the mouse pad, my screen zooms or scrolls up/down instead of moving the pointer on the screen.  Also, when I move my finger on the pad, the pointer in forms (sometimes a little swirly icon) and it won't let me move my mouse.

I didn't change the settings, my mouse has started to do this as soon as I bought it.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello Apiazza.

Almost all laptops nowadays use the sides of the touchpad for fast scrolling or zooming.  In general, there is an icon in the State system (normally at the bottom right of the screen) bar, which will control.  You can usually change the amount of space is the space reserved for scrolling to the top and turn it off completely.  This functionality is provided by the manufacturer of the laptop, so there is no place you can go to Windows to do this, you may need to consult the documentation for your computer if you do not find the program sitting on the system tray. I crawled off NNTP - for now. Announcement of Yeovil, United Kingdom. On the internet at www.windowsresource.net. Please post back to let us know what works and what does not. :-)

  • How to move icons of the add-on at the helm the additional module at the bottom of the screen

  • NB100 - mouse cursor flies around the screen

    Hello

So, I bought the NB100 and noticed that something was not right but stupidly put upward with her for over 2 years. Now he is just really annoying as its happens more frequently and, possibly, gets worse!

Randomly, the mouse cursor flies around the screen, by clicking at the opening programs and files, etc. The only way to stop it is to turn off the laptop holding down the power button. She also does when I plug in a usb mouse (and disable the touchpad) so I assume that it is not the hardware, but I have reinstalled as the driver...

Usually, if I turn the laptop on its always crazy but if I start it in safe mode its fine. This made me think I had a virus but I did a scan and nothing shows.

In addition, I don't think that turn it off by holding the power button down is very good for the system that sometimes, when I try to turn it back on, it doesn't load at all (just a black screen with the cursor).

Help, please! I would be eternally grateful...

    Thanks in advance, Nadia

need you pretty much time to fix. My advice is to reinstall Windows from disk image or hard drive recovery. Please, understand me, it's easier and quicker to reinstall rather try to fix it.

  • Tecra M5: Moves the pointer of the mouse to the corners of the screen - cannot be moved

Had this problem intermittently on my Tecra M5. The mouse pointer starts to crawl toward the edges/corners of the screen, then picks up speed quickly, he will bring back zipper in the corners and no amount of mouse movement. happens if I am rooted in a docking station or not. have tried on many mice with the same effect. Will and without explanation.

Also tried various re-boots, changes to the pointer settings in Vista. Everyone knows this?

One of my friends had a similar problem. Without a serious reason, the mouse pointer moved at the edge of the screen and it was not possible to control the mouse cursor.
Finally, EPA has replaced the keyboard (possibly the touchpad too don t know exactly) and this fixed the strange cursor movements

Then maybe you should contact the ASP in your country and ask for help.

    Best regards & good luck
