    benkop,

There seems to be a bug in CC2014, that appears when you open Illustrator / place dialogue together for display column and sort by date. You can adapt it to display by name or a list of point of view.

  • Open Directory dialog box does not work in FM 10 if client API is not built with 10 FDK

    Hello

We have a FrameMaker API client that we have maintained for more than 10 years, since before the FM 6.

We just brought the code of FDK 7 to 9 FDK so that we can finally move 7 FM support and focus on FM 9 and 10 features. Almost all the code works fine, but we have problems in a function that uses F_ApiChooseFile in FV_ChooseOpenDir mode.

We do nothing special in the code (I am aware that by passing a value into directory argument can cause the function returns without displaying the dialog box) and you use F_ApiChooseFile in its simplest form:

    IntT err;

    StringT stemp;

    ERR = F_ApiChooseFile (& stemp, (StringT) "Select the folder containing the files to be processed.", (StringT) "", (StringT) "", FV_ChooseOpenDir, (StringT) "");

When we create our DLL using FDK 9 client and run it in FM 9, the directory chooser dialog box appears correctly and the user can select a directory.

When the same DLL is running in FM 10, the dialog box does not appear and the function returns immediately with err =-1 and FA_errno no error reported (as if the user has clicked Cancel).

If I recompile the DLL using FDK 10 dialog work in FM 10, so the problem seems to certainly be related to backward compatibility with a DLL built with an earlier version of FDK.

Unfortunately, you cannot run a DLL of FDK in FM 9 10 and we do not want to distribute and maintain two different versions of our DLL to support 9 FM and FM 10 users.

Is there a solution to this?

This bug was introduced in FM10. Until FM9, FV_ChooseOpenDir was #defined as "3", while in FM10, it was changed to '4' (as part of the evolution of these sets to focus on the value of flag-based). What customers can do to overcome this, is to get the FM using 'FP_VersionMajor' version, and for versions before FM10, they can pass 3 'in FM10, as an argument, the argument will be 4'.

We will ensure that we will honor the 3 and 4 as "FV_ChooseOpenDir" in the future, but until then, workaround above should work.

    Kind regards

  • When I use Firefox to watch the changes I make to the HTML files locally, it does not show changes made to images, unless I restart the browser. Is this a bug?

I have the local and versions at distance of a page is open in two tabs. I change images (keeping the same name in the HTML code) and download the modified image. The tab that displays the remote page does a refresh to show the change. The tab showing the local page of do not. I tried to open it in a new window, but it still doesn't change. Only if I restart Firefox does show the change. Why? Is this a bug?

Try using Ctrl-Shift-R or Ctrl-F5 to reload the page. This tells Firefox to reload all the content on the page, ignoring cached assets copies.

I don't know why this is happening in the first place, although I suspect it may have something to do with the fact that the remote copy is loaded from a web server (including a bunch of headers allowing browsers to know when we need to get a new copy of an asset), while the local copy is loaded directly into the file system.

  • Missing icons on the open file dialogue box

I am running Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).  All updates applied.

Problem: When you use the dialog box open file - some file/folder icons are missing.  Not that big of a deal, but introduce that dialog open file in an application they may crash.  I think this may be the cause.

Details: When I use Windows Explorer, everything seems as it should be in the Navigation pane.  For example, I see Favorites and Desktop under Favorites.  The desktop icon is correct.  Everything is as it should be.  If I open Wordpad, and then select file open, the dialog box is, once again, as it should.  All the icons displayed.  However, if I open Word 2007 and select the open file, there is a strange icon for the office and most of the other items under Favorites, some of my libraries display one appropriate icon, others do not.  In the right pane (where the files are listed), there are no icons for files at all, they are simply empty.  I can select the files, then open them, everything works, just no icons.  It is not only the Microsoft Office applications that illustrate this.  If I open the VLC media player, select media, open a file.  I have the same thing (missing icons).

I could live with that, but it seems to cause some applications (applications specifically Flash) to hang when I try to open the files.  For example, if I try to upload a photo to Snapfish.com using the Flash application, it crashes every time than IE when the open file dialog box opens.  Exactly the same happens using the Chrome browser.  Everything works fine as long as I do not open the open file dialog box.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Hello Jonathan Moeller.

There are a few additional troubleshooting steps that we could proceed to isolate or fix this problem.  Just to inform you beforehand, if in fact it is malicious viral content on your system or base operating system files are potentially corrupt. I might suggest a repair installation.  This would be the last option or suggestion.

-Open the prompt (run as administrator) and type SFC/scannow

-Create an another user account (Admin) and check if in fact you are still having this problem

-Turn your computer into a cleanboot scenerio to isolate if a 3rd party service is potentially the first cause of this issue.  Here are the steps...

Step 1: Open the System Configuration utility

    ClickStart

type msconfig in theSearch box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

Step 2: Configure selective startup options

    1. in theSystem Configuration utility dialog box, click Selective startup on thegeneral tab.

2 clear theLoad Startup items check box.

Note The check boxuse the Boot file is not available.

    3. click on theServices tab.

    4. Click to select thehide all Microsoft Services check box.

    5. click ondisable alland then click OK.

    6. When you are prompted, clickrestart.

-In addition, please try to rebuild the indexing function.  Here are the steps...

    1. go into the Control Panel.

2 display All the items from Control Panel by changing the parameter display by in the upper right corner of thelarge icons or small iconscategory.

    3. Select Indexing Options.

    4. click on the Advanced button.

    5. when the UAC prompt appears, click continue.

    6. in the Troubleshooting section, click on the button to rebuild

-In addition, each local user account have their Iconcache.db file or database is located at c:\users\Username\appdata\local\iconcache.db.  Please remove this file.  However, it is preferable that you simply follow the steps below.  Everything must be simple to follow.

Re-create the file icon-Cache by deleting

    1. Each user has its own file named Iconcache.db: USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Iconcache.db
    2. Close all the explorer.exe process using the Task Manager (or else it will create a bad file during the closing session/restart)... Go to the processes tab and locate explorer.exe and right-click on it and select end process tree tree/end of tasks
    3. Use the Task Manager (CTRL + SHIFT + ESC) to launch the explorer.exe again... Once you open the Task Manager, click file, new task.  type 'explorer.exe '... All of your icons should reappear with the taskbar.  You may need to shut down or restart your computer.  Please check if you are able to see your icons with success.

If you please follow on this thread at the earliest, I would be very happy.  I look forward to hear from you.  Have a great day.

    Thank you

    Hello

    1. were you able to see the front dialog box?

    2. did you of recent changes to the computer?

This happens because your screen resolution is less than the required minimum of 1024 x 768.

You can try to change the resolution of the monitor and check.

  • Open file dialog box freezes the program

Most of the attempts to open files using the open file dialog freeze the program.  He is a recent problem.  XP is up to date.

He used to be a stddlg.dll who provided the file open and close services.  Is there something like this in XP, and it may be corrupt?

Another possible cause for this is the corruption of disk.  A standard maintenance step that should be performed on a regular basis is a disk check.  Try running chkdsk with the ' / f ' or ' / r ' option:

  • The edit preferences dialog box will not appear in Lightroom 6 - system 64-bit Windows 8.1

When I select EDIT-Preferences dialog box does not appear.    What I am doing wrong?

    Two other things to try:

A preferences. Reset LR, as described in this article: reset the lightroom - updated - Lightroom Forums preferences file. LR is not uncommon soil its file preferences, and when that happens, it will behave unpredictably.  (The preferences are not reset when you reinstall LR.)

    B. manually edit the preferences file to disable the use of LR of the graphics processor, as described in this article help: using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom | Graphics processor (GPU) acceleration, troubleshooting & FAQ Lightroom.  A little more detail about the steps in this article:

    1. Release of Lightroom.
    2. Click on the Start button in the lower left corner and copy them and paste "%appdata%\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs" (without the quotes) in the search box, and then type Enter. This will open the preferences file in Notepad.
    3. Change the following line: useAutoBahn = true to the useAutoBahn next = false
    4. File > Save followed by file > exit.
    5. Restart Lightroom CC/6
