Original title: Program Files gone?
Recently, I started my computer and noticed that a bunch of files are corrupt, and left most of my shortcuts. I went into Program Files and discovered the entire file completely empty. The computer says to run chkdsk b/c the program files are corrupted. When I run chkdsk/r, it indicates that the NTFS is locked and I have to restart to run chkdsk. When I reboot, the chkdsk never runs.
My wife has all of its graduates work on the computer, I backed up since then, but I try to avoid doing a restore of the entire system. Can you help me?
I am running Microsoft XP.
Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your XP system. For XP support please visit the link below
http://www.Microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?DG=Microsoft.public.WindowsXP.GeneralAlso, try to start the computer in Mode safe.
When the computer is switched on 1, start pressing F8 until you get a menu of Windows startup, choose Safe Mode.Sounds like something important happened (corruption). If you have important data there (for example, your wives, diploma work), I would strongly suggest taking the computer to a qualified technician so that they can recover data out of there before the drive goes down or the o/s is too damaged.
Good luck

Hello, I recently tried deletion of the infamous gorilla of my computer program. I went into Safe Mode to remove it properly. I removed the program under the "Program Files (x 86)" folder first, until I removed it from the "Program Data" folder. Now the program does not appear in the "Program Data" folder, and price of the gorilla is still installed on my computer. I really, REALLY want this formidable program removed from my computer. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Where can I find the program files on the start menu?
Where can I find the program files that appeared when I clicked on the Start button in older versions of Windows?
I would definitely recommend getting the update: it solves a lot of problems and significantly accelerates things. But if you haven't yet done so, the option "All Apps" is nestled in a toolbar. You can right click on an empty area of your home page to display the toolbar.

I use windows 7, the program file (x 86) always on the first day?
When I used Windows 7, I don't know if I have the program file (x 86) in my system. Is it still there from the first day? Also, I downloaded a program called 360safe.wizard and I tried to uninstall several times, but I could not, he told me that I need an administrative authority, I don't know what to say since I am the owner of my own computer, isn't it quite authoritarian to control my own program files?, what authority do I need? Help, please!
Thank you.
Hello
· You receive an error message?
· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
If you are running the 64 bit version of Windows, then program (x 86) should be there.
I suggest you to check out the Microsoft article and check.
How to enable an application to run once with a full administrator access token in the UAC?
You can also visit the article to know the version of Windows that you are running:
My PC running the 32-bit version or 64-bit Windows?

I hope this helps.

Can not install or save the file to the Program Files folder
Just got a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit and 32-bit computer. When downloading from internet programs or the installation of the CD, it won't let me save in either the Program Files folder. (I like to keep things organized and in one place, so I would like to save all my programs it). When I try to register there, an error message appears and says "you don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to back up to this location. You want to save in the case of Cheryl instead? »
I am the only user on the laptop and, therefore, the administrator. It upset me enough that there are already files Program Files (2). Not being not able to save the rest of my programs it makes me crazy. Help, please!
Well first off your laptop will be either using win7 64 bit or win7 32 bit, it cannot use both, and since you're talking about 2 files Program Files then this would indicate the 64-bit version of victory
If its 64-bit version of victory, the 32-bit programs install in the Program files (x 86) and 64-bit programs installed in the Program Files folder.
Trying to force programs to be installed in the wrong folder will save issues, and may result in this program does not work.
So no, you cannot install to a specific folder in Program Files

1 log in under an administrator account.
2. click on the start planet.
3. type cmd.exe in the search box.
4. press on Ctrl + Shift + Enter
5. click on "run as Administrator".
6. type the following commands and press ENTER after each:Taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
(the shuts Office)
Explorer.exe7. use the Explorer to copy the font files.

Drive C: 179 GB is almost complete and the recovery drive D; is also half full. If all of these data are still there is anyway to recover the program files?
Check the root of the system drive where Windows 7 is installed. There should be a folder called Windows.old likely to always have your personal files. Of course, you need to reinstall all your applications and drivers:
You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
