ThinkPad P40 Yoga HDD

Hello

I ordered for a P40 Yoga a few days ago, built-in storage is 256 GB SSD, there is one additional m2 slot, I can add a 1 TB HARD drive in this niche? Says spec max is 512 GB SSD, so I'm not sure about this. I hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance!

You ask me if Lenovo will send it like that? Or, if a person with the appropriate expertise can disassemble the laptop and install the storage that you are talking about?

You may be able to get one of the commercial dealers of Lenovo to do something like that. I do not think that Lenovo will be, but there is no harm in asking.

What I've read, yes you could do it yourself, but you will need PC tools and some patience to get off the keyboard.

  • ThinkPad yoga - hdd a RAW or not?

    Hello

HMM, the hard drive is not a CRU. On this Web site to register as a possibly independent servicable however.

(Note: the site does not list as a VINTAGE basic coverage, even if it must be removed in order to access the HARD drive).

Can you please check and clarify if the hard drive is a CRU or not? I would only consider buying a device that covers records Exchange under warranty.

    Kind regards

    gazpel

None of the internal component on Yoga is considered VINTAGE.

  • With regard to P40 Yoga M.2 connection. What is SATA or PCIe?

My question is in what regards connection m2 on the motherboard for Lenovo's Yoga P40. Is the SATA PCIe m2 connection or a connection hybrid? No where on any of the PDF files produced gives the specifications that the connection type is, other that to say that there is a link to m2. Also please confirm that there is a size restriction of Bay "2242" size m2.

The m2 in the P40 slot is SATA, not PCIe and is a size 2242. The answer has not changed since a few days ago.

There are not many options here unfortunately. Everything is available in M.2 2242 rests on the SATA size which should make it easier.

  • ThinkPad 14 Yoga - Lenovo solutions Center: strange message display

Right. Yes, Hello and thanks in advance. I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14, put far and run the latest version of Windows 10 64-bit edition. First of all, I must point out that this question could not be a problem with the incompatibility of the app all Lenovo apps and programs that work, LSC however seems to be throwing a strange error. It was displaying the same error message from a time of upgrading to W10, this question was not present in W8.

Under system, I get a critical warning to the software update and it says:

    "Windows Update".

    You never updated Windows

    Status: expired

    Last update: not available

To update your operating system, you must run Windows Update.

    [Launch] »

Curiously, no amount of click on the launch button will actually launch wUpdate. And that's all. I have already received, downloaded and installed a dozen updates to day and the message is still there. On another post here on the forum I read I would get this error if the value has not been updated to download and install automatically, but I have not changed the update settings. Everything is automatic. Installation, download, everything. Any ideas?

  • ThinkPad 14 Yoga - a speaker works

I got my Yoga for about a week now and have only found a question. The right speaker works fine, even if the left speaker does not work. I did not notice immediately because the right was so strong, but I used a frazzled and audio program sound from the left to the right and it only worked on the right side. When using a headset both speakers work well in the ears, but not on the actual speakers. Anyone else have the same problem or know of a fix? Thank you!

    Kevin

HA... Looks like it was just a problem with the connector not pushed back... I took a stab and opens the back just to make sure that wasn't the case and he apperead so... both speakers are works now thanks for your help!

  • ThinkPad S3 Yoga 14 wake up from his sleep at random

Seem to have supply problems since the last days of three/four - guard computer wake from sleep at random, without mouse input or anything to tell him to do. Don't stop running, awake, after that, even if the lid is closed. Massive waste of battery. I'm running W10, and I don't have problems with something like this until a week ago. Maybe some wUpdate? Anyone else having this problem, the solutions found?

It seems that windows updates have cured this issue. Thank you all.

  • ThinkPad R Series HDD Upgrade

    Hi all

I have a R61e (7649) and think of upgrading the HARD drive, I looked around online service manuals, but could not find, it is HARD is SATA or SATA II disk. I'm not familiar with these two technologies, they are interchangeable, also is there a limit on the size, I can install, currently I stopped my eye on a 320 GB HARD drive, is there something another important Ishould know before buying and upgrading.

    Thanks to you all

Drive your machine is SATA 1.5 but SATA 3.0, although the latter will work at a speed of 1.5 only.

    I hope this helps.

  • Keyboard Thinkpad yoga 12 has no effective keys

    Hello forum Lenovo.

I need help with my new Lenovo thinkpad, a Yoga 12.

I have a problem with the keyboard, missing keys that are required for efficient use. It is my only problem with the laptop but enough to have me consider getting a refund.

It should be possible to resolve these issues through software or registry hacks, I could use some suggestions as to how:

    1. no NumLock key, it would be great if I could put this on Fn + DELETE and put the pad on Fn + {common keys any laptop uses for these}

    2. right ALT does not cause for different symbols as is usually the case

    3. There is no context menu key, I would put this on the current PrtSc key

    4. left Ctrl and Fn key should probably change places

    (5. I could do with start and end on the left/right arrows)

I already searched the means to do so, all I found was a way to remap the keys, but not to create new combinations of keys without running the software permanently.

Any help in getting these basic necessities would be great, and I hope that my post will be less ignored that others complain about the keyboard.

    Regarding your point 4:

    4. left Ctrl and Fn key should probably change places

This is an option in the BIOS. Press F1 at startup, go to config and the keyboard/mouse (sorry it's memory the wording might be different) and to allow the Exchange.

With regard to your point 2:

    2. right ALT does not cause for different symbols as is usually the case

I'm not sure I understand, but you will get a different behavior from the left and right keys ALT if you set up a United States-international keyboard in Windows for example. Is that what you mean by Alt - Gr? If yes then it probably has to do with your keyboard layout in windows, rather than with the Thinkpad.

  • ThinkPad Yoga M2 slot

    Hello

I have a Thinkpad of Yoga with the built in 128 GB SSD and have thought about upgrading storage. As it came with the SSD 128 GB of the plant, I guess that the M2 slot will be free... Is anyone know what are the specifications of the M2 slot, or if it is usable for a player not cached?

I would like to put a 512 GB SSD M2 for my extra storage must - it would just fill out what I see as a device otherwise perfect.

Obviously if this is not possible, I'll simply replace and clone the existing SSD, but if I can avoid that would be ideal.

    Thank you!

  • ThinkPad Yoga 260 external monitor problem

    Greetings,

    I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 260 (Core i7, 8 GB of RAM, Win10 Pro 64-bit, the Type of Machine 20FD) October 18, 2016.

When I connect it to my external monitor Dell U2713H, the screen blackens periodically respectively off and turn it back on after 1-2 seconds. The display works fine with my other 260 Yoga with the same specifications.

The problem occurs when connected via DisplayPort, but also via HDMI. I have all tried, installed upgrading the BIOS, all new drivers, reset the Yoga to the factory settings and tried it again.

Have you any idea what need then try to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance

In response to customer reports of flashing or flickering on external monitors connected to Yoga 260 ThinkPad systems via an adapter OneLink + VGA/RJ45 or OneLink + dock, Lenovo has provided a solution for ThinkPad 260 Yoga systems under warranty.

To contact the Lenovo Service, please click here and reference Service TIP SF16-T0080 / HT502248. This solution will require the 260 Yoga be repaired.

    Thank you

  • The Lenovo digitizer pen works for my Lenovo Yoga 15 500?

    Hello world!

I think to buy the pen digitizer of Lenovo laptop ThinkPad Yoga, that should work for the ThinkPad of Yoga series, but this pen would work for my Lenovo Yoga 15 500? I don't know anything about the difference between the Yoga / portable and I fear that my model is perhaps not compatible with the Interactive Pen (or would not give as much precision in the sensitivity to the touch).

    Thanks for your advice :-)!

As the Yoga 15 500 media focused on the EMR Wacom pens or pens based on AES of Wacom, your only option is a capacitive pen that works in the same way as your finger.
