"This is an instance of ACE virtual machine. Please open it in VMware Player. ' Problem [solved]

My previous PC broke down with isk hard issues now, I have a bright and successful new to transfer the files.

But it won't work. The error I get reads as follows: "this is an instance of ACE virtual machine. Please open it in VMware Player. »

Folder of you for the virtual machine contains a subfolder of ACE resources, an ace.dat and an aceMaster.dat file.

I think that I previously used VMware Workstation 6.0 and found that the first. I've ugraded to 6.5 hoping that would do the trick. Unfortunately, I still get the same old message.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I followed the instructions in the post:

However, this does not have the problem. I still get the same error.

My host OS is Windows XP

The image is Linux Suse 10 and contains data that took me weeks to prepare...

I've never had installed ACE so I don't know how it happened to active ACE (I received this machine from a colleague who left and checked its licenses and it doesn't have a license for ACE - could be downloaded there a trial, but I have never used and do not know if it had existed before.)

I tried to install the first instance of ACE but it looked like a huge amount of work to get just my picture that is running again...

It is possible that the version of 6 I have re-installed (6.0.4) is older than what was on this box before you start this mess?

Which would cause this error, ACE?

Anyone know how I can get this thing to a working state?

Try Workstation 6.5, which is a free upgrade to Workstation 6.0.4.  At some point you upgraded the virtual equipment of the virtual machine.  The virtual hardware Workstation 7.0 is compatible with Workstation 6.5, but it is not compatible with Workstation 6.0.

  • WMware Virtual Machine W7 and W2008 DHCP 7.1 problem

    Hello

I have VMware 7.1 test so far.

    make two virtual machines

    (a) trial Windows 7

    (b) trial of windows 2008 R2

    Host the Windows 7 system

    two virtual machines work

Windows server 2008 is faine, work, and the network is also OK (I'm getting an IP from DHCP address)

    Windows 7 - problems

first of all, there is no network card, windows (shortage of pilots) was not able to locate a network card, so I installed a driver manually the file WM (fromy my host system)

now, I have on a network map of W7, but it cannot locate the DHCP server, and I get an IP address 169.254.x.x AIPA

I did, checking WMware knowledgeBase, can not find the answer, what to do to correct the windows7 (that's the problem I guess)

any response - appreciate and thank you

    Marvin

By default Windows 7 and Windows 2008 will not respond to pings. You must allow this in the advanced Windows Firewall settings.

  • Navigate to the bootcamp drive, while the virtual machine is open

I have VMWare Fusion 3.1, use it on a Windows 7 64-bit bootcamp.

I need to access my Mac OS player - sometimes even when I run (play?) the merger virtual machine.  The drive disappears from the Finder when it runs.  Can I change this?

    Hello

    No you can't change it.

A single operating system can directly access a system of files at a time unless it is a clustered file system.

Like any normal filesystems like NTFS/FAT/etc... are clustered, you cannot do so.

The answer to that is to share your files via network shares.

  • To access the Sim Playbook on the other machine or virtual machine?

I set up the Playbook dev environment in a virtual machine (MS Virtual PC if it is important) and encountered problems trying to connect to the Simulator, which is of course an another VM.  I guess there will be the same problems you are trying to run the Simulator on one machine other than the machine of dev, regardless of if the dev machine is a virtual machine.

Anyway, I can't start the trainer inside my dev VM. I guess it would work, and in fact it doesn't (even if the error is a strange not found error). Instead I tried to run the SIM on the true operating system of the box.

The machine has an IP address in the 192.168.0.X subnet and VM Dev has also received an IP address on the same subnet to the router. However, the IP of the SIM is a 192.168.153.X. I tried affecting 255.255.0.0 subnet mask right on the Dev of VM and it still does not work. I also couldn't find any way to change the network settings on the Simulator hoping to move it to the subnet 0.

Has anyone got a configuration like this work? If so, there is advice on what config change?

    Bill

I'm currently under this configuration with the development environment in a separate VM (Windows7 Enterprise) and the Simulator playbook in another virtual machine, both on the same machine.

To make this work as well virtual machines had have their network in "Bridged" mode configuration

To configure your virtual machine, assuming you are using VMware Player as I am, in the VMware Player menu bar, click on the tab drop-down 'Virtual Machine', select "Virtual Machine Settings... ».

In the tab "Hardware", select the device of the "network card".

Change the network connection to open and activate the option "reproduce the physical network connection state.

Click OK and restart your virtual machine.

Once this has been done for both, discover the IP address of the Simulator and notes that it has changed. This IP address allows to load your applications from the development of VM.
