Thunderbolt connection MBPro iMac

I want to connect to my iMac27 to my MBPro with a Thunderbolt cable I - cannot pretend to work in System Prefs > network > Thunderbolt

Your iMac has a Mini DisplayPort connector, not a Thunderbolt port; only, it can be used to hang the monitors, including the target display mode.

  • What cable to connect an imac 2007 to an imac of 2015

I have an iMac 27 "new and want to connect an iMac 2007 to extend my desktop.

The other uses a Thunderbolt cable, but the 2007 doesn't have in this regard.

    Recommendations?

    Thanks... and Merry Christmas!

You do not have.  An iMac 2007 does not support the option to display target, nor he would support a 27 inch HD resolution.

  • Can I use several adapters to convert a Firewire 400 in Thunderbolt connection?

I have a firewire 400 device I want to connect to a Thunderbolt connection.  Can I use several converters for first shot of firewire 400 and 800, and then use the Apple firewire 800 adapter Thunderbolt?  Otherwise, any other suggestions?

Perhaps, but not all cards can work in tandem. But why waste time and money. A FW 400 device won't run any faster on Thunderbolt. Why do you need to do this, and do you have looked for a better solution?

  • What kind of cable should I buy to connect my iMac (late 2009) on my HDTV?  It seems that I have a mini view port on the back.

I would like to connect my iMac (21.5 inch display on a recent model of 2009) on my HDTV.  I live in rural and can not get dish or cable TV.  I like to watch movies on Amazon on television.  The back of my monitor a firewire, mini display port and ethernet as well as USB ports.

Why not get an Apple TV? There are currently two versions available, the most recent being about $150, the previous version is on sale for $69 (was $ 100 until the new came a month or two ago) by Apple, maybe from a local retailer. You can then broadcast a wide variety of content wirelessly on your TV TV & film. I have a $100 models, and it runs great on my i - Mac.

  • MacBook can't connect to iMac, iMAC, but can connect to Macbook

I have a problem, I can not get my course around and I need help.  I have an iMAC (2009) and Macbook Pro (2010).  Recently, I upgraded the two systems to El Capitan (both systems run the updates).  Before the upgrade, via file sharing, I was able to connect and read/write to all shared folders and devices connected to my iMAC to my macbook after some tedious tweaking configurations - the largest in realizing that I had to disable SMB and AFP only.  I use the iMAC as a home port and have all my external hard drives attached to the iMAC, and before the upgrade, I could see all the readers (and their scores) as well as all files, I had set up the iMAC to share.  Vice versa for the iMAC for Macbook - I could read/write in all the shared folders on the iMAC Macbook.

After the upgrade to El Capitan, right at the start, the MacBook has emerged as a player immediately shared in the finder and connected without problem.  I can currently read/write of the iMAC on the hard drive of the macbook.

The problem is, the Macbook will connect is more of the devices connected to the iMAC or iMAC.  I've fiddled with settings as much as I can think of, such as disable sharing of files, it reactivated, remove shared folders and add them, check all the settings for all readers shared on the iMAC, etc.  Everything seems to be configured exactly how it was before the upgrade, but for the life of me I can't have the Macbook to connect to iMAC.  In the finder, I see the iMac in the list of shared devices, but it just says: the connection has failed, and when I click on the button "connect as", it returns the following error: "there is a problem connecting to the server"IMAC of Pottsy".  Check the server name or IP address, and then try again.  If you continue to have problems, contact your system administrator.  Whenever I click on the button "connect as" it just trying to connect, never offered me a way to enter a user name or password, so I don't know which credentials that it uses at this stage, although I guess they are the same as before the upgrade when everything worked.  I have not changed the passwords for one of the user accounts and the user name and master password on both machines are the same, if that matters.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what might be causing this unit or a possible way to fix?  Recently, I received this iMAC to a friend and was completely in love with the configuration of shared devices and the way everything worked before the upgrade and find this problem.  It allowed me to share a hard drive that is partitioned as a time Machine to the two machines without having to unplug anything, among other things.

In addition, AirDrop does not currently work in both directions which is really weird.  I am able to navigate to the MacBooks HD of the iMAC via devices shared and drag and drop the files, but said dropping "transferred failed" if I try that.

I'd appreciate really no guidance that someone might be able to provide.

    Thank YOU and GOOD VACATION.

Well, I solved my problem after HOURS of madness, it's obviously something so incredibly simple that I could cry.  The MacBook was somehow not connected to iCloud - signature in iCloud enabled the MacBook to connect to the front just like iMAC.  I can't believe it wasn't an error message asking me to sign in iCloud.  I wonder to re-sign in iCloud always for reasons beyond me, and of course, once you done would have saved me countless hours of attempts without meaning, don't ' you must connect in iCloud message appeared.  SMH.

So there you go people, if you are experiencing something similar, make sure that both systems are signed in iCloud.

    PEACE!

  • I want to connect an iMac 2009 end to a 5K iMac using target disk mode. I have several related questions.

The display on my 2009 iMac has stopped working two years ago and I replaced the machine with an iMac of 5 K. At the time I realized that it was not possible to connect the two machines in disc mode target but today I heard the Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter and started to pursue the investigation.

The hard drive on the iMac 2009 has worked when I he turned on last 2 years ago, but I couldn't see stripped lines colored screen.

    1. is it possible to restore a Bluetooth for the keyboard and mouse when I don't see what is happening? (I removed a long time ago the batteries to store them.)

2 do I need to use a mouse and a keyboard on the older iMac if all I want to do file transfer between two iMacs using the 5 K as the master of the machine? I expect that the answer is yes because I need to hold down the T key as I start the older iMac in order to Target mode, but could someone confirm it's inevitable? (Where Q1.)

3 others managed to make the connection in similar circumstances, with a Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter? Is it that I have to be wary?

    Thank you.

    Will of Percy

    Will,

Unfortunately the target Display Mode will not work with iMacs Retina display. Apple will explain TDM and which machines, it is compatible with the use of your iMac as a display with the target - Apple Support Display Mode

In addition, he will explain what wiring is necessary.

  • Trying to connect two imacs

    Hello!

I got a new imac and I tried to connect it via thunderbolt to my older imac (I have two outputs of crush on the new imac and two cables - one for the monitor and the other to do the older imac a slave). Basically, I want to use the screen of an older imac as a monitor extension for the new imac, and I also want to have access to the hard drive of an old imac. At the moment I can't do both at the same time (even if the two cables are connected). I can either get the extension of the screen with cmd - F2 or the old mac a slave to access the files. Y at - it an option to do both at the same time?

    Thank you!

Select the file share on the old Mac and then put it in the view of the target.

  • How to connect my iMac 5 k to a TV

I have two Thunderbolt ports on my iMac, but I need help to connect to my TV.

The TV is digital HD and has a wide variety of ports of entry

I would like to use HDMI

Which cable is appropriate, because those I have does not work.

    Help please

What do you want to connect the computer to the TV, if you want to use as an external display just get a bolt of lightning to the HDMI adapter and a Thunderbolt cable and you knock out. However if you want to watch content that is located on your iMac like movies, pictures etc, then get an Apple TV and use it.
