    Hello

    Here are a few snippets of the existing plugin that communicates with the vCO using the REST API.

    Please let me know if that is enough or you need something more.

    import java.security.PrivateKey;
    import com.vmware.vim.sso.http.AuthCalculator;
    import com.vmware.vim.sso.http.AuthCalculatorFactory;
    import com.vmware.vim.sso.http.SignatureAlgorithm;
    import com.vmware.vise.vim.security.sso.SsoService;

    httpRequest.addHeader("Accept-Language", locale.toString().replace('_', '-')); // Not sure if this is related

    PrivateKey keyPair = ssoService.getHokPrivateKey(); // You should have this already
    SamlToken samlToken = ... // You should have this already
    String currentToken = samlToken.toXml();

    String[] token = null;
    if (keyPair != null && currentToken != null) {
       AuthCalculator calc = AuthCalculatorFactory.instance(SignatureAlgorithm.RSA_SHA256);
       token = calc.computeToken(request, keyPair, currentToken);
    }

    if (token != null) {
       for (int i = 0; i < token.length; i++) {
          httpRequest.addHeader("Authorization", token[i]);

  • How to check the type of datamodel in case of response data from application of DataByConstraint in the plugin development web vsphere client

    Hello, I am new in plugin development web vsphere client.

    I need to send multiple DataByConstraintRequest (say A and B data model class) within a class of script simple action. But to handle events of response data, we use

    [ResponseHandler (name = "{com.vmware.data.query.events.DataByConstraintRequest.RESPONSE_ID}")]

    public void onVmListRetrieved (request: DataByConstraintRequest,)

    result: collection ArrayCollection): void {}

    The result is an ArrayCollection of MyVmData of the objects collection

    }

    Here how should I come to know this result variable is either A or class B data model. (including the result can be a collection of empty array)

    In case of DataByModel, we have events in response to the separate data for the data model class, but I couldn't find the same for DataByConstraint.

    You can define a unique ID_Demande for each DataByConstraintRequest and check in the response Manager.  'requestId' is a field of the class of basic DataRequest.

  • I can't create the local group on vSphere Client 5.5

    Hello, Hello all!

    I'have the vSphere Client 5.5 and I cannot create a local group on the tab "local users and groups. When I create a group shows me an error and I can not create it. This is the error that I have:

    Call "HostLocalAccountManager.CreateGroup" of object "ha-localacctmgr" on ESXi 'IP' failed.

    I am connected to the root.

    I saw in other forums that it is impossible to create groups due to the last version is only possible in the Web Client that comes integrated with vCenter.

    In the old versions is possible, but when I open a session in vSphere Client 5.0 for example, I have to update version and I can't use the 5.0 version.

    How can you help me?

    Thanks and greetings

    PD: Sorry for my bad English

    Hi Danisb3,

    It seems that local users is now the recommended around work (see link above), but as you said if you have vCenter you can add groups

    ESXi 5.1 and later versions does not support local groups. However, Active Directory groups are supported - is it possible to connect to AD?

    We need multiple/simultaneous access to vm hosts who are resident on the EXSi5.1.

    are aware of our solution, the company PC (multi place) access to vCenterServer via a WIFI/vSphereClient network. and all pepole dedicated the user account for access vCenterServer/VM hosts.

    but when some of the pepole tries to access VM-Host1, they use different account, they will share the sesstion. first open console will also open later attempt to access...

    I checked the CONFIGURATION of terminal SERVER and configured to request user by initial information to connect and will be overwrrite user setting of... but seems it has no effect.

  • Best way to make a copy of a virtual machine in ESXi 4 and the free version of vSphere client

    Hello

    I have:

    ESXi 4 Update 1, vSphere 4.0 Build 208167, vmware converter 4.0.1 client build 16.12.34

    VM is Windows Server 2008 R2 Ent

    I'm trying to make a clone of a virtual machine for the purpose of creating one server of another out of it.  I use the converter and still after I have successfully connected to the virtual machine, I always get the error "Unable to get information about the selected machine material" when you click Next.

    My goal is to create a virtual machine.  Put an operating system on it, and then just use it as a model to create other virtual machines.  Is there a way to make that either is not involved or pay for an upgrade order lines?

    If it means order lines, could someone please go through the steps to achieve this?

    It would be great if I could understand why the converter does not work.  I heard I could drop-down list for version 3.0, but I could not find it available for download.

    Thank you!

    Name change is not necessary, as the vmdk files will be isolated in the new VM folder. If you want to rename on the concern of the Organization, you will need the vmkfstools on RCLI user, but I think really is not so necessary, so you do not use complicated distributions of disc inside your data store.

    About converter, I just wanted to know how you use it. Nevermind install again, I had kind of her. Check the settings change VM, on the Options tab, if the guest operating system is configured correctly. Even if this is the case, change to another, click ok and then configure it to the right and test to boost conversion.

  • Start a virtual machine from the CD player on vSphere Client

    ESXi V4.1-

    I know how to get the virtual machine to connect to start for the host's cd drive.  But it seems I have to first of all power on the virtual machine, and then connect the client drive - and at this time, it will be too late.

    Report from the boot of 5 s after powering did not connect the CD from client to the virtual computer for 5 seconds pause - connection was grey until the virtual machine launched at startup.

    Is it possible for a start of the virtual machine from the CD of customer?

    When you see the white bar (after the virtual machine is started) press the key "ESC". This will bring you to a boot menu (which may not show the CD at the moment). At this time to connect the CD-ROM drive and then 'hot' starts the virtual machine by pressing CTRL-ALT-INS. Once the white bar is displayed, press the ESC key again. Now you should see the CD-ROM as boot device.

  • Installation of the VMWare Tools on vSphere Client

    Can someone explain exactly how I'm supposed to install the "VMware tools" in the form of step by step.  I'm under vSphere 4.0 without the update 1.  Thanks in advance!

    Hello.

    See this section of the library online.  From there, choose the operating system you need and there are instructions step by step.

    Good luck!

  • To access the ESX files in VI client

    Help me crazy!

    The other week, I'm sure that I have accessesd the hosts/etc/folder through the VI client.    Now I don't remember for the life of me how I did it? ?:|

    I think it was a similar way that browse you files on a data store, but can't remember and now want to display the hosts file without being to the ESX box.  pointers please!

    Bravo!

    Not sure how through the VC client itself. You can however use FastSCP for ESX hosts, if you have the open port required ETC...

  • problem connecting to the vSphere client

    Recently I found myself unable to connect to the Esxi host at the data center via vsphere client 5.5 by multiple computers (Windows 7). It shows:

    vSphere Client could not connect to "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx".

    A unknown connection error has occurred. (The client may not send a request to the server. (La connexion sous-jacente a été fermée: une erreur inattendue s'est produite sur un envoi.))

    All virtual machines resume normal. And the result of telnet seems normal to port 902:

    VMware authentication daemon Version 1.10 220: required SSL, ServerDaemonProtocol:SOAP, MKSDisplayProtocol:VNC, VMXARGS taken in charge

    However, if I access http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:902 . He showed:

    VMware authentication daemon Version 1.10 220: required SSL, ServerDaemonProtocol:SOAP, MKSDisplayProtocol:VNC, VMXARGS taken in charge

    SSL: Unknown error SSL

    VMAuthdSocketRead: failed to read. The closure of socket for playback.

    SSH access has not been enabled, and I can't find any way to access the Esxi host.

    Anyone have any idea on the issue?

    You can try to restart on the host through DCUI management agents.

  • You cannot use vSphere client to change the settings of the virtual machine v10 or more

    Hello

    I just downloaded new version of Kali Linux to do some tests with my free version of ESXi update 5.5 2, the problem is that I can't change the settings of the virtual machine in vSphere Client.

    It's so good because of the independence of Web OS Client vSphere but what about the free version? Everyone knows you need a vCenter running successfully and a license for the vSphere Web Client.

    There is no free version of VMWare vCenter.

    Nice day.

  • VSphere client light web - cannot select boot from ISO via the CD/DVD drive

    I had used P2v to virtualize a Windows 7 machine and after the start he said that the "the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. I think I need to run a repair using Windows 7 image and possibly launch a fixboot and fixmbr, but when I try to adjust the settings of the virtual machine using the web client to boot from the ISO it displays an error and the ok button to save the settings is grayed out. How is it doesn't let me do this?

    Never mind. I got the VM running in Vsphere client while trying to change the setting in the web client.

  • An internal error has occurred in the vSphere Client. Details: Index was outside the bounds of the array.

    Hello world

    I have a number of active hosts VMWare ESXi 5 I manage, but since yesterday I encounter the above error.

    On a new server, I installed ESXi 5 successfully and I can connect to my Client vSphere host. However, as soon as I try to create a new virtual machine, the error message appears. (See attached screenshot)

    Later, I tried to connect to my existing 5 ESXi hosts and has experienced the same error when you try to perform the same operation.

    Any advice on how to fix this? I tried to reinstall the client on my machine without success. However, I can perform the same operations with success since another spare machine I have on the network.

    Well, there are two things you could do to further isolate:

    1. on your account, try a clean boot and check http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

    2. try to recreate your user profile and check the difficulty of a user profile is corrupted

  • Setting up a location of scrape persistent by using the vSphere Client

    Hello

    I have an application on behalf of data store when you configure the location scratch using vsphere client.

    This is the step that I have to perform to set up the scratch location and my query is

    I have to specify the name of the data store for step 10, as what I see through the vsphere client IE Datastore1 (vmfs/volumes/Datastore1/.locker - ESXHostname)

    OR

    What I need to specity the unique id that I am able to see in ESXi console that is to say 50060160c46036df50060160c46036df (/vmfs/volumes/50060160c46036df50060160c46036df/.locker- ESXHostname)

    What would be the effect? Configuration with the name of the data store for the vSphere client.

    You can configure the workspace for ESXi using the vSphere Client:

    1. Connect to vCenter Server or ESXi host using the vSphere Client.
    2. Select the ESXi host in the inventory.
    3. Click the Configuration tab.
    4. Click storage.
    5. Click a data store, and then select Browse.
    6. Create a directory named only for this ESX host (for example, .locker-ESXHostname )
    7. Close the browser to store data.
    8. Click Advanced under software settings.
    9. Select the ScratchConfig section.
    10. Change the configuration option to ScratchConfig.ConfiguredScratchLocation , indicating the full path to the directory.

      For example:

      / vmfs/volumes/DatastoreName /. Locker-ESXHostname

    11. Click OK.
    12. The ESXi host in maintenance mode and restart so that the configuration change to take effect.

    I ran a quick test on my test environment. You can safely enter data store, it will be automatically replaced by UUID data store when required restarting.
