Toshiba 5200-903: show the lightness

Hallo

My English is not very good, and I hope that you will understand me.

First, I'll tell you a few basic details of my system:
Material: Toshiba S5200-903
OS: Debian Linux Kernel 2.6.15 - 1-686

The light of my screen with linux is very "dark". When I use Windows, I can change the intensity light [FN] + [F6] or [FN] + [F7].

How can I use this future in Debian Linux?

Thank you - benny

Hello

Well, the problem is that Toshiba doesn't support Linux and don t design all the drivers for linux.
The fact is that to use Toshiba additional features like the FN keys, you need a driver in particular. But as I suggested at the outset, that there is no drivers for Linux. In this case, it of not possible to use this function.

    Hello Stephen,

The file that TVALZ_O seems to be linked to Toshiba ACPI and it seems THAT BIOS should be updated.

Since you are facing many problems after the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional, it seems you may need to check the latest updates of the Toshiba BIOS.

Important: Change the BIOS (Basic input output system) / Semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

You have to get in contact with the support Toshiba BIOS update and to get help.

Hope the helps of information. Let us know if you need help with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help you.

    Hallo

My English is not very good, and I hope that you will understand me.

First, I'll tell you a few basic details of my system:
    Material: Toshiba S5200-903
    OS: Debian Linux Kernel 2.6.15 - 1-686

When I'm controlling the mouse by the Touchpad, I don't like, that success on these Touchpad made a "klick" of the mouse. In Windows, I could say the system: "don't do a mouse klick by pressing the touchpad. I think that it is enough to use the 2 buttons for this. Enybody can tell me how konfigure in Debian Linux?

    Thank you - benny

    Hello

As you know the Toshiba doesn't support Linux.
On the page of the Toshiba driver there are mostly of the touchpad driver and utility for Windows operating system that controls or function of the touchpad.
But there is no utility driver and touchpad for the Linux operating system.
In this case I n t think it is possible to configure the touchpad without the necessary utility.

  • Toshiba 5200-903: TV-out

    Hallo

My English is not very good, and I hope that you will understand me.

First, I'll tell you a few basic details of my system:
    Material: Toshiba S5200-903
    OS: Debian Linux Kernel 2.6.15 - 1-686

I want to use the TV-out on my system. I need it especially to connect to my audio device. The normal audio output (where normally e.g. the head game is beeing connected) is damaged. It only works the right channel or left (I dunno who it is).

So, how can I konfigure this in Debian Linux TV output?

    Thank you - benny

    Hello

TV Composite video-Jack 3.5 with stereo audio output is available on this unit.
If you want to use it you must use a cable with composite 1 x and 2 x cinch (left/right) audio connectors.

I'm not sure about the software side. As you know the Toshiba doesn't support Linux but a driver usually should also work.

Would it be useful to replace the CMOS battery for the floppy drive works again?

    Hello

Battery CMOS is needed to keep the BIOS settings.
It seems that the CMOS battery is empty if you need set the date and time always in the BIOS settings. But the CMOS battery has nothing to do with the floppy drive.

Or is it possible to get an another Mainbord for the 801 at a reasonable price?

    Hello

    > can by a 5200-903 eBay; the 801 seems to be very rare and put the screen 1600 * 1200 the 801 the 903
I think it is possible due to the fact that both models of laptops support 15.0 "TFT color.
That is why I see no serious reasons why this t shouldn't be possible.

    > Or is it possible to get an another Mainbord for the 801 at a fair price?
What is a fair price, I think you can get a new motherboard for around 300 euros.
But I think that this isn't an option for you. I reason ;)
As you say ebay is a good place to get a laptop second hand and especially the laptop together are much cheaper as a single party as the display or the mobo

By the way; the display is always fixed with screws... but more details are not known to me...

    Hello

Unfortunately, these software are not available on the Toshiba page and I can say with certainty that you will not find these applications on the pages of Toshiba.
Usually if you want to buy an internal CD/DVD slimline drive you must ensure that it would be compatible with this laptop.

I'm afraid you'll have to googel for a 3rd party tools that might help you m

Deploy a 5200-903 Toshiba Satellite. A few days ago, I have a problem with the display. All scratches and other
unknown elements on the screen. It's the graphics card (FX GO5600). Read about it in other forums.

My Question: Is it an embedded chart? And what do you think, is it profitable to change the broken component?
I mean if the graphic is on board, I have to change the motherboard together.

    Hello

It's look like that there is a problem with a graphics card. Can you check connection of the external monitor to the laptop?
The graphics card is integrated into the motherboard, therefore, you need to replace the whole motherboard.

It is quite expensive, and sometimes it is better to buy the new computer

  • Satellite 5200 903 does not detect the wireless adapter

    Hello everyone,
I wonder if anyone can switch me to it...
Since I reinstalled the operating system (my XP pro SP2) PC seems not detecting don't nor the wireless adapter in the device under network adapter Manager.
Also the light of the flexibility wireless no longer not.
I also have problems to access the BIOS to check if the card is detected there, have not a Toshiba HW setup in Control Panel as described in the manual.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello Juliana

The question is how did you install the operating system? If you use the restore CD to install all tools including Toshiba HW setup. If the unit is pre-installed with the Microsoft Windows XP Home edition CD, you must install all the stuff of Toshiba late.

Just a little explanation about the wireless network card. Basically, if the wireless switch indicator turns not on s clearly indicate on hardware problem. I guess that the wireless card is faulty. Also check if the card is listed in the Device Manager.

If you want to enter the BIOS settings pres ESC key at the boot routine and keep it down for a few seconds.

    Good bye

    Hi KurtKawohl,

    1. what operating system is installed on the computer?
    2. have you made changes on the computer recently?
    3. What is the Toshiba laptop model number?
    4. do you get an error message?

    Method 1
If you use Windows 7 , and then run the hardware and peripheral troubleshooting tool.

Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter

  • LC - E6 quickly shows the flashing orange light. Will not charge the battery.

The charger that comes with my new 5 d Mk III LC - E6 battery could not operate right out of the box. Would not load my new battery, nor any of my other Cannon batteries. Amber led flashes quickly.
The old LC - E6 charger supplied with my EOS 7 d charging these batteries normally.
I updated the scrapped charger delivered with my 5 d Mk III, and bought a new LC - E6 B & h. This unit has the same question. Sometimes it will load some of my batteries of Cannon, but more often the clear amber, after 20 seconds of just flashes quickly and will not charge the battery. My old charger LC - E6 Bill still all these batteries in normal mode.
I use brand Canon LP - E6 batteries in these cameras.

I followed the instructions found in the owner and guide online the site of Canon USA to charge the battery. The batteries are relatively new and show the good working condition on the information panel of the menu camera camera battery. These units (LC - E6) never worked properly.

    Tim,

AC power removed normal home. All high-tech devices are functioning normally.

As for replacement by Canon, I don't have the original invoices for this item, so I'm just going to buy another.

    Thanks again for your contribution.

  • Satellite 5200 903: problems with Fn + F5 and button Middle YPP

    Hello
I updated my Win XP Home for Win XP Pro and installed all the goodies of toshiba from the home page. Two things do not work as expected if:
    * Fn + F5 is not scroll the screens available
    * The YPP middle button cannot be used as a middle mouse button

Don't know why Fn + F5 does not work, all other Fn keys work as expected. They show the OSD, too. FN + F5 does not display the OSD menu and no service :/

The YPP button: I tried the driver on the site of toshiba and synpatics.com
The problem is: in Control Panel, I can choose functions to each button. The "middle button" function is available for the left and the right key, but not the middle. And it is not recognized as button in the Middle, but like PageUp.

Any ideas? The laptop is a Satellite 5200 903.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Ataraxis

First of all I must tell you that the Satellite 5200 is a great unit. If I found one that doesn't cost a lot of money, I will buy it.

    For your questions:

As far as I know if you want to use the FN + F5 key combination you must install TOSHIBA Hotkey Utility for Display Devices V2.1.0.0 - 1. I hope that this tool is installed correctly. If you want you can try to install again.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that this little button in the Middle does not have the same function as mouse button of the medium, as a dial and it will be used to start the Launcher of sPad. If you want you can check it in s. manuals I've read n t, but I hope you can find a good explanation about the features of this little button.

    Good luck!
