A cookie is a small bit of data that a Web site can ask your browser to store.

Next time you visit this website, the data in the cookie are sent to the Web site.

Tracking in a cookie a cookie is a unique number given to you. It is usually given by the advertisers.

This allows them to say things like "a user who saw our ad on example.com 20 times last week and clicked on one of them, comes to see an ad on example.net".

This allows them to select ads to show you based on what they know about you. i.e. the advertisements that are most likely to be of interest to you.

Some people consider it useful, other people consider it an invasion of their privacy.

I would like to just ignore, if you want to block then go on a search engine and use the expression:

block third party cookies

... IN ASSOCIATION with the name of the web browser software you use (by example, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Opera, etc.)

  • I used to be able to type the url under the Privacy tab specific tracking cookies, but this possibility seems to have disappeared, why?

Under Tools > Options > tab personal life, until recently, there was a cookies button allowing you to type in a list the URLS of specific tracking cookies that you want to block. If all antivirus scans are all these cookies, I could add to the list. This is a great option. It seems that list and this option no longer exists. Why

For all the history and Cookie options, select: Tools > Options > privacy > History: Firefox will be: "use the custom settings for history".

    Dear Sirs:
I ran Microsoft Security scan and my result gave 2 alerts for tracking cookies. Could you please tell what they are and are dangerous to my computer?

    (a) c:\users\BOB\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\low\SG30YNPB.txt

    (b) c:\users\BOB\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\low\G4JBOHIE.txt

If they are dangerous, how can I remove it please?

    Sincerely,

Cookies are not "dangerous", where they can harm your computer, they are just risks to privacy.  Cookies store information for a Web site, such as your user name if you do not have to type your next visit.  Some sites Web uses cookies to track how often you visit, or what other sites partners spend you.

  • After the update to firefox 17.0 when I do a scan with Norton 360 it does not pick up the tracking cookies which changed 16.0.02

After the update to firefox 17.0 when I do a scan with Norton 360, it is no longer captures the rejected. These cookies that have been picked up with firefox 16.0.02 what you have changed? Plus, I'm getting sick of these updates - at least we tell users what has changed in new versions.

First of all, we do not say what has changed in each version, http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/17.0/releasenotes/.

Secondly, Norton should always be able to delete your cookies (just so that you know that the cookies are generally harmless, and you don't need to worry to remove). If not, you can delete the cookies in Firefox Cookies - Information that Web sites store on your computer

  • The latest version of Firefox that has been auto-updated from last week is very ' tracking cookie vulnerable "(48 sur ouverture!)."» How should I do?

Without changing the settings, the new version begins on my homepage 'Google' with 48 rejected. After several pages tonight, my Norton anti-virus has taken 64 of them! I unchecked "accept 3rd party cookies" and kept him "do follow" checked. That did not work. The latest version didn't pick up these infections. The version before 2-3 cookies from the opening.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

In the meantime, I'm going back to a better old browser!

    Hello

If accept 3rd party cookies is not checked, then the 48 cookies would probably be the cookies from the site of the sites visited. The mechanism do not follow is from now non-binding on the websites. Sites may or should not honor the header of the TSD.

    DNT updates

You can also consider the function of Reset Firefox via help (Alt + H) > troubleshooting information to check if other than the tabs tabs/start-up active add-ons affect cookies.

(To return to the previous mode, you were using, close the new profile (i.e. Quit Firefox), start Firefox and choose the default user profile.) Alors_que Profile Manager is open, you can also remove the reset your profile (the one containing the random numbers) or the old profile, as appropriate).

  • When the privacy mode is enabled, each its own separate tab is? A sneaky cookie created in a tab will be seen by another tab? Tracking cookie of some item hidden on one page can be seen on another website, if its open in another tab?

Is a tab as a separate instance of the VM when privacy mode is enabled? Independent 3rd party cookies goes out. (They are). This type of behaviour can be turned on?

In private browsing mode all cookies settings are the same as in normal mode, so all open tabs and windows share the same set of cookies.

The only difference is that you do not have access to cookies created in normal mode (you get a new set) and the session mode PB cookies are never saved on disk and are deleted when the end of this session of PB.

There are extensions that allow obtaining a whole independent cookies, drank, I don't know how they work in mode of PB.

  • Tracking cookie?

    Sorry, we couldn't find http://altfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/fm/5...-11000-0%3Fmpt.

This has happened in the past, but not as bad as today. The site that I use a lot normally without problem is http://www.advfn.com/

I run my normal spyware program but nothing is found and the problem persisted throughout the day. Any ideas?

  • How to delete cookies from all the ' Do not Track ' placed in Firefox after I have uncheck "Do not Track" when they are all keep reappear after being deleted?

I first checked 'Do not track' blindly that it would work. I am running FF 14.0.1. I do not accept 3rd party cookies. I demand to be informed whenever a cookie wants to access. Before that, I would normally check my cookie list to remove those that don't want to keep, after I closed the related tab. However, after checking the option, a multitude of cookies "do not follow" arose. They block my table. I spend too much time track the unwanted cookies. In addition, after unchecking the option, all those ' Do not track ' cookies remain unwanted. No mater what I do to remove them, even to excess 'Remove all Cookies', none of them stay deleted. Even if I have to 'Remove all Cookies' and immediately close FF, they ALL back when I restart FF again, even after the total shutdown of PC.

The choice of the '-non-piste ' will that make Firefox sends a header HTTP specific (TSD = 1) on a web server and there is no definition of cookies.

This is the server to do something with this request.

If you receive permanent cookies, which cannot be removed, then it is likely that you have installed an extension.

  • Cookies not deleted in Norton Internet Security 2012 analysis tracking?

I'm updating for firefox 10.0 and now when I do a scan of Norton Internet Security 2012, it does not remove tracking cookies. Have the tracking cookies are moving to a different location?
If someone has had this problem or know of a fix?
    Thank you, Dan Leese

If you want to delete Cookies from Firefox, the best is Delete of Firefox itself.

Check and tell if its working.

  • I tried several ways to delete the cookies listed in options and nothing works to get rid of them.

I tried all methods to remove cookies that are available on your support site. I have tried them if the choice in the Options is for authorized cookies and cookies not allowed. Also with 3rd party cookies allowed and not allowed. Normally, I fixed it to authorized cookies but 3rd cookies of third parties not allowed.
I tried CCleaner, cleaner, cleaner Auglogics Euslings, Wise Cleaner, SuperAntiSpyware, Spybot, and WinPatrol and remove temporary files in Windows. All that the software deletes the cookies. I also Spyblaster to protect against hundreds of tracking cookies. It was SuperAntiSpyware who brought the problem to my attention in the first place. It just started doing this a few weeks ago but only the past several days I've worked hard to get these deleted cookies. There must be hundreds of them. I managed to remove about 5 or 6 of them, but others did not move. I want to clean up everything to start over and analyze them on a daily basis. I don't want most of them. SuperAntiSpyware claims it deletes them but when I go to Options in the browser, they are still there. SuperAntiSpyware claims that cookies are there whenever I run the program before you shut down the computer.
I just added that convenience store and looked at the information. I'm sorry but I'm not understand anything. I'm not savvy in computer science.

You may have installed an extension that adds the so-called opt-out Firefox cookies.

These opt-out cookies are to be sent instead of the regular cookies and you cannot delete these opt-out cookies unless you disable or uninstall the extension.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.
  • Why does MacScan work on Firefox cookies, more?

MacScan used to detect the 10-30 + tracking cookies every day - that I would remove. Then I updated Firefox and, now, Macscan detects only on Safari tracking cookies. I used to learn that the default setting on my Firefox 26 preventing tracking cookies - Firefox home page, but I've never touched all the settings on my previous versions of Firefox before - what MacScan worked on it. Eventually, the function of 'preventing tracking cookies' did not exist in previous versions of Firefox. But what I'm asking is that previously MacScan could analyze the cookies about 3 000. Now, it scans only about 100 cookies Safari, notes 2 or 3 rejected, and it is not even scan cookies from Firefox at all. Please can someone explain what is happening? MacScan tech support guy was very nice, but could not help me.
Another thing: a website, I went once again my AOL toolbar. I went to the Apple Store and a 'genius' fixed the problem - but I don't know what he was doing. Eventually, the issue of MacScan began at this time.

In case you use "clear history of Firefox closing:

  • iGoogle costantly redirects and does not open why? Cookies are ok.

Whenever I have enter igoogle in the address box or click on igoogle in the bookmark bar a box appears with a message stating, redirected, don't try it yet as it will not work or words to that effect. How do I access igoogle? Tracking cookie are not blocked. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • You can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. To do this, please follow article Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems .

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. It might help others who have the same problem.
