  Someone had a chance to create a script to update the traffic filtering and marking of area of a group of ports on a vSphere 5.5 Distributed Switch? The settings are only exposed in the web client for Onyx is not an option.

• Sections, filters and Tags - what is it? Who's with them?

  Hi all -

  Let's delve deeper into help the sidecar to accompany our DPS publications and I'm trying to wrap my head around what are these different parts and how to use them.

  I think I have a good handle on the Sections, they are best used for newspapers with DPS. Filters are probably better if your publication is published in several languages, based on my research.

  But I'm really fuzzy on what are tags and how to use them better. A reader can search by tags, or tap on one and see all items with the same tag used? I guess hope for us, that's our client we could give a few tags that we associate with each item - whether the subject of the article, or if the article has "bonus content" not available in the printed version, etc. - and users can type to see all of the items associated with a specific tag. I'd love to hear/see examples of a publication using tags, so we can show our customers how we use them.

  If you specify the text of the tags, this text appears as signature or Description when article is displayed in navigation mode, but it has no other effect like search or filtering.

  Unfortunately, there is not a complete list of the different OID in different MIB. In order to find this info to simply browse through the different MIB seeking the OID, you need. We did some looking through the MIB and found these OIDs that can help you. Another thing to keep in mind is that the MIB downloaded are in general of a group of switches. So there are situations where a /OID MIB listed will work for a certain model of switch with certain level of firmware.

• WRVS4400N Client filtering and AP Isolation Options missing

  I have a WRVS4400N with v1.1.13 firmware (latest firmware for versions 1.0 and 1.1 of the material).

  I need to configure the wireless client filtering and isolation of the AP.  The frequently asked questions for this router contains information on this subject.  However, my firmware on the router does contain no options described in the FAQ.  These settings are only available in the v2.0 hardware?  I hope that these settings can be made available in the 1.0 1.1 hardware.  I wouldn't have to buy a new router to do this.

  FAQ seems to be for an older version of the firmware and the firmware later has the options you want under different headings.

  Filtering wireless is managed by going under wireless > wireless control. Select 'Enable' and then decide whether or not to control the connections by allowing only certain MAC addresses or deny certain MAC address and allowing all other wireless. There is even a button that shows the current wireless connected clients to make it easier to determine the MAC addresses of valid customers when filling out your list.

  The isolation of the AP is called Wireless insulation. Go under wireless > wireless security and select 'Enable' for isolation wireless. This will prevent communication between wireless clients.

  You can make a backup of the old and then a selective restore of the backup for the new device...

• How to copy a movieClip with filters and alpha in bitmapdata?

  I have a movieclip with an image that has transparency and the filters applied to the movieclip. I know that I can use 'draw' to copy the movieclip on bitmapdata object, but it does not copy the filters and the transparency of the image. How can I copy these so the bitmapdata matches the original movieclip in appearance?

  Sorry, Lee, but the draw very good copy filters. And thankfully so - what happens if the clip in question is not a parent - that is to say, it's parent is the stage... that wouldn't work at all then.

  I'm not sure of the problem of the OP, but draw copies certainly filters and transparency without problem.

  Yes you can do it. You enable the follow-up at the global level. Write a simple java class (perhaps servlet/JSP/EJB or autonomous) http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/jmx_monitoring/. Refer to the sample program to end and to gather the necessary details.
  I do not have a program easily accessible to the general public to aggregate the results, but it should be simple. I guess I'll try to write more than end of week if possible. But you can also try and let me know if you encounter any problems.

But in the "textfield" showing that you have chosen the corresponding id is displayed. This is not what I want. I want the name to be displayed.

  The text field is filled in with the return value.

  If you have

  SELECT name, id
  FROM table
  

  ID will be returned to the text field. If you want the name displayed, then it should be...

  SELECT name a, name b
  FROM table
  

  If you want to use the ID later, behind the scenes, then you could calculate it according to the name.

  Introduction - Hotmail has always been my favorite e-mail client, in terms of being robust and polished, but recently Gmail has claimed as such.

  1. Gmail has included a feature called labels nested, while Hotmail allows to folders and subfolders
  2. Gmail has included an option to export filters, while Hotmail requires users to manually enter filters or individually click on email to do
  3. Gmail has included an option to rename the tags that are nested and dynamically change their location, while Hotmail does not allow users to move the subfolders once they have been created

  Proposed implementations
  1. Add the ability to collapse or expand folders and their subfolders, otherwise users with many records will have to scroll down whenever they want to find a certain folder
  2. Add the ability to import Gmail filters after that that they have been exported from there
  3. Add the ability to rename subfolders by using the syntax of the tree (folder/sub folder) or (file > subfolder), or allow users to drag and drop the subfolders in a different folder

• Question about traffic portgroup and vswitch

  It is my understanding that the network traffic between virtual machines on the various exchanges on the same vSwitch will stay within the vmkernel and not go on the wire to the physical switch. This makes sense because it is the most effective way.

  Is there a way to force traffic between exchanges on the same vSwitch back on the bear to the physical switch?

  If you wonder why, we try to avoid having to use the method of marking of external switch (EAST) to deal with the VLAN and ESX.

  Using the virtual switch, but will achieve what you want, give the PGs a VLAN tag and the external switch in trunk mode configuration. There is a good PDF VMware explaining how to configure.
