Troubleshooting DHCP on the WLC 5508
What is the best way to debug DHCP throughout this unit activity. We have this setting of the unit as a demo at a customer site, and is having some trouble with DHCP...
Is there some opt for CLI and the GUI?
Thank you!
Unfortunately the bug found in the latest code for blinker will not solve the question, sorry. Have you something else you can unload DHCP (router or server which can run DHCP services)? If so, you can point your dynamic interface to this device to provide DHCP service. Here is a link to DHCP running on an IOS device:
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/customer/docs/iOS/12_0t/12_0t1/feature/guide/Easyip2.html
Hope this is help.

How to retrieve the RADIUS shared secret key on the WLC 5508
Hi all
The wirelss privious admin left our company and did not let the other know the shared secret key on the WLC 5508 Radius.
The 5508 WLC runs on the 7.0.98.0 code. I can access the viao WLC CLI and GUI. I can also access the Win2003 Radius Server, but the button displays an asterisk for me. I have listed partial RADIUS config of the WLC below. How can I get the RADIUS shared secret key? Thanks in advance.

You can retrieve the RADIUS shared secret key as other passwords that are stored on the WLC by using the procedure at the following link:
NOTE: WPA keys are not available through these methods.
Basically, you can enable password in clear text on the wlc with 'config passwd-cleartext enable' and then issue a "view orders of the running-config' - your RADIUS configuration command should now display the shared secret.

WCS come with the WLC 5508?
Forum
I provided a quote to a customer for a wireless installation. I have two 5508 boxes and about 40 AP on the quote, so that related SmartNet.
I was reading how the Cisco Unified Wireless network is composed of:
Controllers of
Access points
Wireless Cisco (WCS) control system
Cisco Mobility Services engine
My questions are:
1 WCS are installed on the controller? Is this something that the customer receives just by the fact that they buy the controller? Or is it another piece of software with a cost?
2. What is the Cisco Mobility Services engine? Feel that the controller will not? How I would sell one to a customer?
Thank you
Kevin
WCS is a Windows 2003 application (so no "on the controller") which is completely separate and must be purchased separately with different levels of licensing for the different feature sets.
WCS is very useful when given several WLCs to manage and is offered when you buy a bunch of stuff I think.
Only WCS brings better considered features (graphics, pdf reports,...) and maps to visualize everything.
MSE is a kind of "calculating machine" that you bind to your WCS to locate all customers and thieves in real time on the map. Only this. But it's a pretty cool feature :-) You can only display one customer at a time without MSE (when entering its mac address in the search field) on maps of WCS.

APs (LAP1142N) disconnect after joining the WLC (5508)
Hello
We have a problem in the school I work at. There are 133 APs located on campus.
They worked for 3.5 years without any problems.
Recently, we have problems with APs disconnect randomly.
He began the week last with just a couple. We've got them running again, but later the same day new ones had disconnected.
This continued with several access points and it seems to happen randomly and it is never the same one that disconnects.
We have a centralized support unit that helps us with stuff like that, but they have not found a solution, so I was hoping that someone here had seen this problem before.
Today at 07:00 all access points were running, but at the time of this post, 6 of them were disconnected.

Cisco ISE 2.0 and WLC 5508 with 7.6.130.0
I have looked on the release notes and compatibility n for ISE 2.0 and have not seen the answer to that. For the WLC 5508, the minimum AirOS is 7.0.116.0 but he limited the AAA authentication and support for comments. The recommended version of AirOS is 8.0.121.0.
http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/security/ISE/2-0/compatibility/ISE _...
What airos 7.6.130.0? I know that AirOS release works with 1.3 and 1.4, even if they show the same support for version 2.0. I'm just afraid that something may have changed with 2.0. I am concerned only about the AAA authentication and guest access. No BYOD, posture or MDM is necessary.
No change. Works well.

Cisco ISE 1.2 &; Cisco WLC 5508 v7.6
Hi all
We intend to upgrade our WLC to 7.6 to fix a bug with FlexConnect customer ACL but I just saw on the ISE Cisco compatibility table which it recommended only up to the WLC 5508 v7.5...
Cisco told me to avoid 7.5 as it is in a State of defferred if anyone know or are running in a laboratory or production, ISE1.2 with a WLC v7.6 n 5508?
I wish I knew rather questions of people know before hand than to have to go through a software update, and then restore.
Thank you all
Mario Rosa
Definitely stay away from 7.5. I've done several deployments with the WLCs 7.6 running. The two main issues that I touched were:
CSCue68065 - in this bug FlexConnect ACL does not work unless you have a regular (non FlexConnect) ACL created with exactly the same name
CSCuo39416 - CWA does not not on FlexConnect APs. It would apply to you if you have older models APs
I hope this helps!
Thank you for evaluating useful messages!

WLC 5508 internal DHCP server issues
Hello
I'm hoping to get your comments around the issues of dhcp, I faced with two centrally switched Wireless LAN. I have attempted to explain the installation and the problems below and would be grateful if anyone can suggest a solution for the problems I am facing:
The configuration is the following:
-J' have a WLC 5508, which has been configured with 4 SSID, of which 2 are the Central authentication and commissioning.
-J' have a LWAP connected to the WLC in HREAP mode.
-WLC is configured as a DHCP server for clients that connect to the SSID "Guest." For the rest, I'm on external dhcp server.
-Only one scope of comments Interface is configured on the WLC.Problems:
1. as far as I know, to WLC serve internal dhcp server, it is mandatory to have the proxy enabled, but the Clients connecting to 'Internet' SSID are
Unable to get an external dhcp server ip address, if the proxy dhcp is enabled on the WLC. If I disable the proxy, everything works fine.
2 DHCP does not release the ip addresses assigned to clients, even after that that they are connected.
3. If a machine that has previously been connected to "Guest" SSID connects to the 'Internet' SSID, he asks the same ip address, he was charged by the WLC assigned under "Guest", it gets the tag with the Vlan configured on the management interface.
The controller output *.

Hello
Hope someone can help me, I have a Cisco 5508 WLC and wanted to backup the IOS.
Is there an easy way to do it? or a Cisco restrict this function with the new IOS licensing model?
Second question, with WLC 5508 IOS version 7.0.98 I see that there is no field recovery Image, is that correct?
See you soon,.

My installation has cisco WLC 5508 and ACS 1120 ver 5.0. How to authenticate users who access to the WLC via the ACS 1120 users GANYMEDE +. I am able to authenticate users for routers and cisco switches, but when I try the same for the CMT, it fails.
Can someone explain please the config/basic steps that must be configured on both services ACS & WLC.
You use plain vanilla 5.0 or have installed patches?
the ACS 5.1 has new GANYMEDE related functionaity, including support for custom services and attributes. If they are necessary for the WLC yo need support it would improve.
He could also relevant corrective patch from calendar 5.0 but I can't find any relevant specific at this stage CDETS

Hi, I own a WLC 5508 and (probably), I do not understand the AP Manager interfaces. I have a laboratory with 2 x 1242AG and 1 x 1252AG connected to c2960. APs in vlan 10 (192.168.10.0/24, configured via DHCP), APs are connected to interface 'switchport access mode. C2960 is connected via a trunk to c4506 and WLC is plugged into article gi1/3 and article gi1/4 (both through twingig). The two ports are configured as 'switchport mode trunk ". WLC management interface is IDE oucederomsurlesecondport WLC 8 (linked to article gi1/4), and AP-Manager is on port 1 (connected to article gi1/3) WLC. WLC management interface has 'Management dynamic AP' set to off, and AP-Manager defined activated. The two are interfaces to management and AP-Manager tag, vlan id 12 and 13 (subnets 192.168.12.0/24, 192.168.13.0/24) respectively. APs receive their IP through DHCP configuration (server located in vlan 20, 192.168.20.0, in use ip helper-address) and try to discover DNS resolution WLC (CISCO-CAPWAP - CONTROLLER.some.domain resolves to AP-Manager IP correctly). But AP has the status "not connected" in monitor/statistics/AP join APs do not join to the controller, said WLC "Discovery request Ignoring received on the management interface".
But if I put management interface as "Dynamic AP activated" and change the DNS to resolve CISCO-CAPWAP... it's IP everything works well - AP is associated with the time. Please help, how to reach the KNEES a AP-Manager interface? Sign up for the Manager of WLC is simple, but my design requires at least 2 interfaces AP Manager.
If you have a 5508, why you have the AP Manager?

1602i-e-k9 AP and WLC 5508 issue of Cisco
Dear forum participants,
I experience a problem connection Access Point 1602i-e-k9 to WLC 5508
I upack and taken an AP on the network, it appears on the WLC (monitor > all APs), I can see it using the link details for several time.
Then he desappears, restart does not help.
I searched the forum for solutions, made AP reset via command "cli rommon-like" + button "MODE" and "reset" . After that, the same thing happens again: he appears on WLC and disappears.
What I am doing wrong?

Cisco WLC 5508 &; HP printer
Hello
I have some problems with cisco and hp airprint wlan systems.
I use two cisco wlc 5508, a master and an anchor.
the APs ar connectet to master wlc, DHCP and the point of diversion to the internet are on anchor wlc.
so far, with my android phone, I can connect and hepatitis has access to the internet.
now, I use an HP Multifunction (MFP M276nw) printer with Airprint. I connect to the WLAN even the hp printer on the same IP range.
I can ping the printer from my android tablet, but I can never find the printer with a hp soft.
If I connect the printer even with the same compressed to a point of user access to home normal is all ok thing.
I think I have to configure something on my wlcs.
any ideas?
Thank you
It seems that v7.5 supports Hello on anchor. You might want to look at this thread

Trouble getting a Cisco 2600 series AP to stay connected to WLC 5508
Hello
I recently loaded the independent our old APs upgrade to LWAPs. We have a WLC 5508 to our Virtual Co - Lo and I use Flexconnect to accommodate local switch and dhcp on our sites. I have updated more than 50 APs and joined them to the controller. These include only the 1130AG and 1240AG models. However they work perfectly and stay connected to the controller. I'm having is with a new batch of 2600 series APs stay connected to the controller. I tried to do research in what may cause disconnect it but have yet to find a solution. I use DNS to resolve queries for CAPWAP & LWAPP APs to the controller on our EXTENSIVE network. Read other messages I thought that this is perhaps a problem with packages to drop but have had our provider that manages Sonicwalls at both ends of the WAN confirm for me that there is no packet loss. Here are the logs that I collected through the puttty of the WLC & AP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
AP, I do the test on:

Hello
Today I have two WLC 5508 (with license for 100 AP each of them), on a single site.
The WLC work availability (active-standby).
However, we have a new scenario, with 02 sites: A and B (attachment).
I would like to know if it is possible to work as follows:
The WLC - A as the main controller of site A. WLC - B as a backup (BDC) of WLC.-a.
The WLC - B that has the PDC site B. WLC - as a backup (BDC) to WLC - B.
For example:
If WLC - a falls, site access Points are managed by B WLC site - B and vice versa.
Is this possible?
How can I configure the new scenario? Don't forget, there is a site-to-site between Site A and Site b.
Another point:
If I add more than 50 APs on Site A. How does the license number?
Should I buy a license for the two WLC?
TKS,

No. , high availability in terms of controller is supposed to be what is said, the backup controller is not 'full' - stby and cannot play other roles.
