  You can open Notepad and type something.  Press the Insert key, and then try to go back and change what you type and you will see the difference between insert and Overtype.

  I can't help with Firefox, but in IE, you can change the colours via Tools | Internet Options | The colors.  I think Firefox has a similar option, but you need to ask in a forum of Firefox to see the option.  As it happens in the browser, then it is clearly a browser problem and not a problem in Windows mail.

  It is not possible within a text field, either. If they have Acrobat, they can use the built-in under Tools - editing content Add Image tool.

  You have made the classic mistake of using the assignment operator in a statement instead of the comparison operator. Change this line:

  Usually this kind of thing will run the custom calculation of the target field script, but the boxes is not a calculation script, so we'll use the text for field Validation script do, with this code:

  Yes to bold, but I don't think (unless someone can correct me) on the highlight. For the bold, you first have to change the Format of field in the window object library. Once that is then activated in the two player (if you extend the right permissions) and in Acrobat, you can select the text that you want, right-click on it, go to 'Text Style' and then change the font of the selected text only for "BOLD". I put some screenshots below of what it will look like. Derivative is a different beast in Adobe. Specific text highlighting is not an option that allows Adobe and Livecycle, I don't know if there is a way to let a user highlight specific text in a field. If you try to use the method to highlight in Acrobat or Reader, it will prompt you to created a printed version. You can select the entire field itself with a few JS Livecycle, but the text are not specific.
