Try to reinstall Vista

I'm working on a Windows Vista-based computer. I run chkdsk on it and she stopped at 65% made in step 5. I tried to reinstall Vista using the original dvd and it stops at the installation screen how to complete and will not end. I tried reformatting the drive but he never made the installation. You have any suggestions for me to try next?

Access the Web Hard Drive from the manufacturer site.

They normally have the Diagnostic software that you can download.

Then test the hard drive for problems.

    Hi Rick,

    1. you are trying to boot from the disc or start on the desktop to start the installation?

If you don't have any concerns of data, you can continue the installation without removing the program.

If you have any concerns of data, then try to remove the PowerShell and run the install. Also perform a backup of important data before reinstalling Windows Vista.

Refer to Microsoft KB article for more information:

  • Try to reinstall Vista on laptop

I need to reinstall windows vista on my laptop, all I have is the Vista cd, he'll ask me until then to search for a driver, then he asks for the installation disc. I have no recovery disc only cd of vista, what can I do?

    * original title - reinstall Vista *.

Problem with Vista reinstall, contact your computer manufacturer.

    These are the General guidelines:

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Get the Error Message When you try to reinstall Vista: Windows cannot open the required file: E:\Sources\install.wim

I'm trying to reinstall windows vista for the following reasons:

    1. I have SQL Server 2008 installed on my computer.  I deleted some files a long time ago and it screwed something and I couldn't reinstall.
    2. I had partitioned my hard drive for vista half and half SuSE and I deleted who and when I did, I think I deleted another partition - my recovery partition (E:\?).
    3. I need to clean my laptop.

When I try to start the installation of a disk and I put in my product key, I get the following error:

Windows cannot open the required file E:\Sources\install.wim.  The file does not exist.  Make suure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.  Error code: 0 x 80070002.

Let me know if you have any ideas how I can fix it.  My next step was to recreate this E directory and download the install.wim file and re start the installation.  I could not find the file install.wim well.

    Hi Rob,

I checked the link you provided.  What you downloaded was just the Vista recovery environment.  You cannot actually re - install Vista with that and if you blew your recovery partition unfortunately you may be out of luck.  You blew your partition containing Vista runs so the SFC will be of no help either.  I wish I had better news for you, but I don't see any way o get on without a Vista DVD.  I have good news for you if.  When you get your HP drive if you have problems with the installation, we will be able to help you with that.

  • Try to reinstall vista OS on dell Vistro 330 desktop computer.

The PC stopped seeing my connection to the local network. While he was trying to reconnect, somehow my user name and passdword has changed. I ONLY DID NOT go to the users and change the name of the administrator or the password.

I decided to reinstall the operating system after that I realized I could connect is no longer at the start.

Asked to enter the name and the psssword on the reinstall from the Dell reinstallation cd. I think that I made my mistake when I put a disc of the operating system Windows XP in the cd drive to boot from.

The system is supposed to be Vista with XP option.

All I get is "press any key" to start the cd player, then a white screen. With F8, and then select any desired startup (safe mode, etc.) Sometimes I get the screen with windows 32 messages system and then stops at the end and does nothing, or I get a blank screen.

I ran diagnostics from the system start and everything is back as norma. (memory, hardware, etc.).

    What can I do now?

    Thank you.

I continued to try. I just got a message for the second time during my attempts. The pc went to a screen "Windows Boot Manager" and a message to insert the disc of resettlement and finally arrive at the 'repair '. Status 0xc000000f. Locked screen. 'Enter' will continue not and ESC. do not leave the screen. Should turn off.

  • When I try to reinstall vista family premium, to create more than one partition is greyed out.

I installed a new 500 GB HD in my notebook and want to partition into two equal parts, one for the OS and the other for stuff.  After formatting the only options available are to a single partition.

    Hi Jesse,.

Are you booting from the disk and do the installation?

If you are, then you will need to click on advanced options to get the options to make changes on the HARD disk.

Now if you have a partition created aldready it give you an option to create a new partition.

What you need to do is to delete the existing partition and THEN ONLY it will give you the opportunity to create a new partition of the size of your favorite.

Aldready you could have a partition created and it has no more space available on the disk, the create partition option will greayed out.

    Hope that helps.

PS Deleting the existing partition wil clear all data and installed programs. So please be sure that you have all important data backed up.

    Hello!

Normally it is not necessary to install a driver for the touchpad because s he s always activated, but you can do this also with FN + F9.

However, you should try to install the Toshiba Value added package. This is necessary for the FN keys and on the Toshiba site, you can also find the touchpad driver. Check it!

    Hello

Hmm, looks like the laptop cannot restore the operating system from the recovery image
To be honest I'm not very well why this error pops up but eventually it s m related to the new HARD drive installation.

Perhaps, you can format the HARD drive again using a clean Microsoft Windows CD (Win XP, etc.).
Boot from the CD of Win and format the HARD drive.
Then go to the recovery disk, boot from the recovery disc and try reinstalling the operating system

    Maybe it would work

  • Should I reinstall Vista Home Premium?

My problem started when I downloaded a few new files for a game, I run on my Vista Home Premium.  The game is Left 4 Dead 2, I've been looking for a good map editor for game cards included with the game, and in my research on the web, I found a few new cards that are in zip (compressed) format, and after reading the instructions I have to use my 'open with... " command through Vista and the value of Left 4 Dead 2 as well as the program to open these files with..., now on my system, I have a lot of space (500 GB HDD with about 75% of free space), I have a quad-processor, 2.40 GHz Pentium 4, 4 GB of RAM.  Now for the problem; When I select Left 4 Dead 2 as the program to use in the "Open with...» " window and click OK, nothing happens, Left 4 Dead 2 does not appear in the"Open with... " list of programs and it happens with all types of file/program type on my system.  So I ask, can I reinstall Vista once more?  It has been replaced once before, and honestly, I didn't like the process of resettlement.

Resettlement took my old Windows subfolder and placed in another directory on the operating system reinstalled.  I can see why he does it, but honestly, it's a royal pain in the neck to find out what to do with the new directory, I ended up just removing all together.  So I ask you, should I reinstall or not to solve this problem with 'open with... '. »?

    Hello

I saw the 0x0000007B BSOD caused by trying to install XP on a disk hard while the BIOS is designating the reader as AHCI instead of IDE. XP has no native AHCI drivers, resulting in a stop 7B. Unless the PC had originally Vista or Win 7, but it might be useful to check that it is not likely.

If the BIOS is set to AHCI, you could do one of three things (depending on whether your PC has a floppy drive)...

1 find the Setup F6 disk on AHCI support at installation time (start with the manufacturer's website if you do not already have such a thing). Watch the very hit F6 prompt early in the installation process.

    2. change the setting in BIOS on IDE / ATA

    3. create a new "slipstreaming" installation disc drivers AHCI in the existing installation disc, see http://www.nliteos.com/index.html

After the back if your BIOS is IDE / ATA
