Turn windows features ON / OFF

Not able to turn ON features of windows on this computer.

Thanks for reaching out. Here are the steps on how to enable/disable Windows features:

  1. Open the Start Menu, type the Windows features in the search box, press ENTER.
  2. Open Control Paneland click programs and features icon.
  3. In the left pane, click the Windows turn features on or off .
  4. If prompted by UAC, click on Yes to approve.
  5. To turn a Windows feature - Check the selected function. Do not forget : Windows features are grouped together in folders, and some folders contain subfolders with additional features. If a box is partially checked or is dimmed, then some items in the folder are turned on and some are turned off. To enlarge and view the contents of a folder, double-click it. Pointing the mouse on a file will give you a pop-up description of the feature.
  6. To disable a Windows feature - Disable the selected feature.
  7. After you enable or disable a feature, you may be asked to restart the computer.

    This problem has been resolved. As my pc was a new purchase, the issue ended up being that the seller installed windows 8 home edition not pro. As soon as I reinstalled the pro version of windows 8, hyper-v settings appeared.

    Morale... Make sure that you get exactly what you buy.

    I tried so many things to solve this problem, I don't know if I can still remember that I tried everything.
    The first and easiest, thing that I tried was to run sfc/scannow as administrator - I received an error that said "resource Windows.
    Protection"could not perform the requested operation.

  • Turn Windows features on or off - games and IE are mutually exclusive?

    When I activate the games help to turn Windows features on or off, IE11 is deleted from my computer and is no longer visible as an option to activate Windows features On or Off.  It is a 2 - day old HP Probook running Windows 7 Professional.

    I need to restore to recover IE11 on my machine.  I did this four times now.  100% reproducible.

    Any ideas?

    Okay, I think that all is well now.

    I turned on the game, uninstalled IE11 from Windows Update and reinstalled IE11 using offline Installer.

    The games and IE11 work.  IE11 appears even to turn features Windows turn on or off.

    I installed a Dell Windows Vista on my XP Home existing, I found that I couldn't access the games.  I tried to use "Turn Windows Features on and outside" to turn them on, but I got an error.  I then discovered that it doesn't seem to work on any programs.  I also tried running "sfc/scannow" which seemed to run correctly except that he said he couldn't fix all the files.  Is there a problem with the help of a Dell installation on a Dell disc?  The seller told me that he would not be a problem.  Should I recharge with a new facility If Yes, do I lose all my data and programs?  Thanks for any help you can give me.  Dave Gilbert

    Yes, there is.

    The Dell disk/Vista license is bound to the original Dell computer on which it is installed.

    And the Vista license is non-transfereble.

    I have this same problem with Win7 Ultimate.  Activate Windows features or Off empty.  UAC works correctly, I tried sfc/scannow and it found no problem, System Restore tried without success, haven't tried System Update Readiness Tool - nothing works.  Still a Virgin.

    Customer of Hyper-V is available in Windows 8 Pro and Windows 10 Pro. Thus, you will need to upgrade to a later version, and then activate it.

    You can use Virtual Box as an alternative.

    Can you confirm if the problem is occurring in a different user account?

    If you have your Windows 7 install media, you can try to perform a repair upgrade:

    If you don't have a copy of Windows 7 with SP1, you can use the instructions to download a copy:

    I got these during some time and tried all the things suggested in many answers CIHI / other forums. Some updates won't be finished and keep re-setup

    I tried for example

    -Run the system scan tool

    -installation pre req IE10 and IE11 - tried but not applicable to my computer PC

    -all-in-one-repair tool (that managed to get the job of Ombudsman)

    -SFC - but it does not work in normal mode or safe.

    OTHERWISE the PC works OK

    Tried to run all the viruses / malware checkers available - no thugs file detected

    A response suggests I check the CBS and that seemed to be important

    ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT

    Can I fix this?  Is this the road to my problems?

    Solved by restoring backup of WHServer in June - where the problem appeared from WUpdate Journal! Now I have 2 OSs on 2 SSD - 1 good OS; 1 with up-to-date data.
