  • Unable to download windows media player mobile so I can borrow video from my public library

I'm trying to understand how to download windows media player mobile for my palm centro, so I can borrow the video from my pubilc library.  I have the regular windows medial player on my windows xp home desktop, but when I tried to download the mobile player on the site, I was invited to install microsoft activesync - I did it but microsoft activesync does not recognize my palm centro.  Any advice?

Hello BETTIE, welcome to the Palm support community.

What you're trying to do cannot be done!  Windows Media Player Mobile isn't a PalmOS program - it is a program for Windows Mobile.

ActiveSync is also a Windows program, designed for your computer and will not work with a PalmOS device.

What format is the video that you are trying to view?  What is a DVD?  It is in the form of .wmv?

There are several programs for sale which can read files in format .wmv - CorePlayer, and Kinoma EX player are two that come to mind.

DVD converters are also for sale.  See this link in the section Audio, video and Photo of the forum:

  • Unable to open Windows Media Player sometimes the Start Menu also there unresponsive at times

MY MEDIA PLAYER WORKS OK FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN STOP WORKING.  (NOT ANSWER).  ALSO SOMETIMES I CAN'T OPEN MENU START, I TRIED REBOOTING WITHOUT SUCCESS AND STOPPED MY PC.  SOMETIMES, IT WORKS.  I HAVE MEDIA PLAYER 11.

I HAVE ALSO WINDOWS DOES NOT WHEN I AM OFFLINE AND TRY TO CLOSE AFTER HAVING PLAYED A FEW GAMES INSTALLED FACTORY.  I USE A WINDOWS VISTA WITH A HP PC.  IT COULD BE RELATED?

    Hello

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. you receive an error message?

3 when was the last time it was working fine?

    Method 1

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Method 2

If the above step failsthenI suggests Mr scanner SFC on the computer that would scan for corrupt system files on the computer and replace them.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

  • Unable to read the .avi files with Windows Media Player 11 on XP

Original title: Media player upgrade was worse than basic
I recently updated my Player multimedia media Player 11 and now it won't play movies from AVI file that I used to be able to play easily on the outdated version. Why is this?

    Hello

Do you have an error message when you try to play with Media Player AVI files?

When you try to play a file that uses a codec that is not installed on your computer, Windows Media Player attempts to download the codec from a Microsoft server. If the
Codec is available, the Windows Media Player installed on your computer, and then bed file. However, if the codec is not available on the server (for example, because)
the codec not created by Microsoft), Windows Media Player displays a message that your computer is missing a codec.

In some cases, the file you want to play uses a codec that is not available or compatible with Windows Media Player. When this happens, you may be unable to use Windows Media Player to play this particular .avi file.

You can consult this article for a solution:

  • Corrupted Windows Media Player / cannot access

    Hello

When I try to access Windows Media Player, I get the message that the file, the path or device is not accessible, and I can't have permission. However, the permissions are enabled under the Security tab. After installing an update from microsoft, I noticed that the icon was missing for the media player. When I researched the program he can access.

I would like to re - install the media player, but he does not accept the download for media player 11, saying: this is an older version.

    Any suggestions?

    Melissa

    Hello

    1. could you give me the exact and complete error message?
    2. don't you make changes to the settings of Windows Media Player?
    3 update you installed recently?

    Method 1.
You may need to rebuild the database from the Windows Media Player library.
    Here's how:
To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
    a. exit Windows Media Player.
    b. Click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click OK.
    c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.
Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.
    d. restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    Method 2.
Also, try the methods listed in the section below and check.
    I hope this helps.
