UPDATE/INSERTION of a table full of data to an empty table.

Hi all

I use Oracle 11g - 64 bit and the client of TOAD.

I have two tables... a TMP_SUPP_CONTACTS (TMP) and table TBL_SUPP_CONTACTS (TBL). The TMP table has all these 'raw data ' (lower case), do not cut, etc. The Bill of lading DIRECT is completely empty, in addition to the columns. I need to move these data from the TMP table to the Bill of lading DIRECT.

The columns in each table do like this:

TMP:
CNTCT_ID
SUPP_IDNT
FIRST_NM
MID_NM
LAST_NM
ROLE_TITLE
ADDR_LN_1
ADDR_LN_2
ADDR_LN_3
CITY_NM
STATE_CD
POST_ZN_CD
CTRY_CD
PH_NUM
EMAIL_ADR_TXT

TBL:
ORG_ID
CNTCT_ID
SUPP_CD
DATA_SOURCE
ROLE_TITLE
FIRST_NM
LAST_NM
ADDR_ST
ADDR_CITY_NM
ADDR_ZIPCD
ADDR_CNTRY_CD
PH_NUM
ADDR_EMAIL
ADD_DT
LAST_UPD_DT

I am combining table TMP, ADDR_LN_1 + ADDR_LN_2 + ADDR_LN_3 at ADDR_ST in the Bill of lading DIRECT. My code looks like this...

UPDATE TBL_SUPP_CONTACTS TBLSC
SET
TBLSC.ORG_ID = "XXX."
TBLSC. CNTCT_ID = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. CNTCT_ID)),
TBLSC. SUPP_CD = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. SUPP_IDNT)),
TBLSC. DATA_SOURCE = 'E ',.
TBLSC. ADDR_ST = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. ADDR_LN_1))
|| ' '
|| TOPPING (UPPER (TMPSC. ADDR_LN_2))
|| ' '
|| TOPPING (UPPER (TMPSC. ADDR_LN_3)),
TBLSC. ADDR_CITY_NM = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. CITY_NM))
|| ' '
|| TOPPING (UPPER (TMPSC. STATE_CD)),
TBLSC. ADDR_CNTRY_CD = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. CTRY_CD)),
TBLSC. ADDR_EMAIL = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. EMAIL_ADR_TXT)),
TBLSC. ADDR_ZIPCD = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. POST_ZN_CD)),
TBLSC. FIRST_NM = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. FIRST_NM)),
TBLSC. LAST_NM = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. LAST_NM))
|| ' '
|| TOPPING (UPPER (TMPSC. MID_NM)),
TBLSC. PH_NUM = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. PH_NUM)),
TBLSC. ROLE_TITLE = TRIM (UPPER (TMPSC. ROLE_TITLE)),
TBLSC. LAST_UPD_DT = SYSTIMESTAMP,
TBLSC. ADD_DT = MARCH 6, 2013.
OF TMP_SUPP_CONTACTS TMPSC;

So, I have a few questions.

1. why this code does not work? It gives me an error on my statement FROM. I am new to Oracle and SQL as a whole, but trying my best to understand this.

2. for the TBLSC. Field LAST_UP_DT... I would format the SYSTIMESTAMP in MM/DD/YYYY format, is this possible to do?

Thanks to all the advice I receive for this problem. I appreciate it.

Well, for starters, you want an INSERT... SELECT... statement, not an UPDATE statement. You have nothing to TBL to update, you will need to insert the data.

    I'm close on this? This throws any errors, but it is not no longer works. It is so obviously wrong. I get a cfdump the end of my query of compairison, but once it hits the stated case, it is lost.

    Thanks for your time no matter who.

    You must define the variable before you can use it.  You try to use it on line 1 of your model.

  • Date-time info - when the last time any new record is inserted in a table

    Insert only, I don't think it's possible.
    But you can ora_rowscn pseudo-column and scn_to_timestamp the user function to get the time when the table was modified last:

    Scott@my11g SQL>select scn_to_timestamp(max(ora_rowscn)) lstmod from t1;

    LSTMOD
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    13-DEC-10 05.05.22.000000000 PM

    Scott@my11g SQL>update t1 set val='stuff' where id=1;

    1 row updated.

    Scott@my11g SQL>commit;

    Commit complete.

    Scott@my11g SQL>select scn_to_timestamp(max(ora_rowscn)) lstmod from t1;

    LSTMOD
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    13-DEC-10 05.07.19.000000000 PM

    But I'm not wheither it is reliable to be used on the production database.

    The start date you passed is changed before EXECUTION of your insert on this table

    l_start_date := l_start_date+1;

    Maybe she go back to the original value before the isnert

    l_start_date := l_start_date-1;

  • increase the value of minute in 14 minutes, while the data is inserted into the table

    Hello

    I'm having the asp page that connects with the DB to insert values into the table. One column is date data type. Value from this asp page must be incremented to 14 minutes before be inserted into the table.

  • How can I update, insert into existing data staged in Oracle Disqualification reference data. Help, please

    Nice day

    I created data staging of the data store (server and category: Oracle database). Now the same staging data, I created reference data.

    I created work processes to regularly update tiered real data but the same updates should also reflect in the reference data.

    Is there a profile that I can use to update live data in the reference database. Please help me.

    Thank you

    Kind regards

    Hello

    Versions 11.1.1.7.4 Disqualification and 12.1.3 allow writing data directly in the process. Previous versions are not, although they allow you to use the research on the staged data that can then be used as a reference with the same features except that it is not editable in the tree.

    1.No. multiple tag will vary how to extract those and concatenate them into a single column. I assumed that his occrrence in 3 for example:

    Use the fn:string-join() function:

    path varchar2 (4000) of comments 'string-join(comments/comment, "-").

    2. how to set the value NULL if no tag is not present. Tag in XML record number can vary.

    You don't have anything specific to do in this case.

    Missing tags with a projection in the COLUMNS clause will produce a column NULL by default.

  • ODI: Error invalid identifiers in "insert stream I$ table. '

    Hello

    I am trying to write a temporary interface (yellow), which will act as a source for a standard interface (in blue).

    However when I run the standard interface, I get the error on step 8 - integration: Insert flow I$ table

    ODI v11.1.1

    On the standard interface:

    I set the box "use the temporary interface as an underlying table (subselect).

    R_ID field on the target table is the key field. It is mapped to one of the fields in the interface of temp and it the value "run on: Source" with set of Insert and Update check boxes.

    I use SQL LKM for Oracle components to get the data from the interface of the target temp.

    On the interface of temp:

    No key for each field in the target field

    IKM DB2 using updated incremental, FLOW_CONTROL with STATIC_CONTROL set to false.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    In the target database, I changed the name of the field R_ID... but I forgot to update this column in the ODI of the table model. Once I have updated the model and mappings, the interface ran as expected.

  • insert into the table of GLOBAL of AWT DYNAMICS with passthrough CACHE GROUP 3

    Hi all

    I have AWT DYNAMIC GLOBAL GROUP CACHE table on the customer table

    Relay 3:
    insert into customer values (5, 'US', 'Dublin', 'KkROAD');
    3340: Delete/update/insert/truncate Passthrough of the grid cache tables are not allowed

    but when I insert it to PL/SQL passthrough block 3:

    Start
    insert into customer values (5, 'US', 'Dublin', 'KkROAD');
    end;

    /

    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

    record inserted, but I

    1. Select * from customer (passthrough 0)
    can not see the record inserted in Timesten

    2 see the recoerd inserted in oracle

    3. can not insert gives same record in TT agiain .it
    342: introduced key already exists on Oracle or remote node

    is that corect behavior, can tell me

    I need to confirm, but I think that the fact that the Pl/SQL based insert works is a bug; He must also fail with error 3340. I will check into it and get back to you.

    The reason that SELECT * FROM CUSTOMER doesn't nto show the record is this "dynamic load" (extraction of missing data from Oracle) works only when the query contains a key equality predicate on a primary key or foreign defined on one of the tables in the Group of cache (it's documenetd in the cache user guide).

    The reason for which the insertion fails later in TimesTen is that we are to check if the record exists in Oracle (who does) and rejecting the insert (behavior correct and expected).

    It is not clear to me why you would want to use PassThrough to insert a row in Oracle in this case. The idea is surely that you insert the TimesTen online and it gets proagated to Oracle via AWT...

  • problem with UPDATE/INSERT loading type

    Hello

    I use the owb11g

    all I'm doing is loading in target table using update/insert, type of loading.

    There are duplicates in the table of the CBC, and I PK defined on the target table.

    whenever I run the map, he said NO to READ FROM SOCKET DATA.

    What is the solution? can there be a better way to do this?

    Help, please

    Why keep you posting messages doubles for the same problem?

  • Insert in the table of waveform

    This is a snippet of code that I use in a larger program, but the functionality remains the same. I read two waveforms of an oscilloscope and insert them in my DataSet happening in the world. For some reason, when I do the table insert, no data ever made in this table. What concept am I missing here and how can I remedy this?

    Build table is the correct way about 99.9% of the time.

    I don't think I've ever actually used insert into the table.  It is intended for those situations where you want to Insert and in the middle of a table element, not when you want to build on the table at the beginning or at the end.

    Your original mode has not worked because you wired the value of the N terminal in the insertion index in the table.  This value is 3.  If the next table in the loop is empty, then you cannot insert an element at index 3 because the rest of the table before does not exist.

  • Insert the small table 2d in larger table 2d

    Hi, it is possible to insert a small table of pre exsisting in (so more written) data in a table larger 2d at a certain position (in definable BOTH coordinates x and y)

    for example:

    2, 4

    4.7

    in

    0,0,0,0,1

    6,7,2,8,1

    6,6,8,3,1

    1,3,4,7,9

    2,6,5,8,2

    to give to say:

    0,0,0,0,1

    6,7,2,8,1

    6, {2,4}, 3, 1

    1, {4.7}, 7, 9

    2,6,5,8,2

    or any other post so you could get anywhere in this 2d table?

    I'm a bit puzzled, and I have no VI code useful to offer.
