  My apologies to you Fred.

  The fault was all my decisions. The desktop of Windows 10 had been configured in white using my Visual problems.

  It is turn caused the faulty display of Google in Firefox.

  A test in the normal Windows theme shows the Google logo and question box frame correctly. This is perhaps why MS do not offer a standard white desktop computer in W10.

  Hi, 41 of Firefox, you must use an add-on like tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the page tab.

  Once installed, open the Add-ons (Ctrl + Shift + A) Manager > Extensions, and then look for the new tab override and click Options to set your preference.

  Note, if you want only the new tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the Add on new tab homepage instead.

  You will then need to restart Firefox for all changes to take effect.

• When I updated to FF12.0 my bookmarks toolbar and my home page shows as empty whenever I restart Firefox.

  When I disable the toolbar, and then reactivate it then all bookmarks are still there but whenever I restart firefox and then the too bar (even if it is enabled) shows as empty until I have kill and bring back again. In addition, even if my home page shows that fix in the options, it does not load when I start Firefox.

  Could you try disabling the add-on All - in - One Sidebar? Closing Firefox, then reopen. I heard at least a person that disabling this add-on fixed toolbar bookmarks disappearing for them. I don't know if it will also get rid of the homepage won't load does not, but it might.

• Update lost because the system restore - can't find it!

  A system restore does not remove Windows Defender definitions. I hope that you do not use WIndows Defender to safety as it monitors only a limited category of threats. You should run an antivirus so or you must replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials.

  I did a system restore and all elements in the list of my favorites have disappeared - I can see them in Explorer with all the files, folders and URLS, but how their bacl to my favorite list?

  are you trying to get them on chrome or firefox and internet explore?

  In addition, if you can see them to explore if you double-click them work?

• I just noticed (in the ofJune12 of last week) my Google.co.uk home page has now a great sprite 'thing' in the way. That's on top of the schbox

  This ONLY happens in Firefox, no other browser for that.

  Going to www.google.co.uk I see a stupid 'thing' looking at the left center of the page, hovering a little more and in the path of the search box.

  Place the cursor on the 'thing' and I see a url; of www.google.co.uk/webhp@hl=en. Clicking on it does nothing, I would remove it.

  Anyone know what this is caused by?
  The ususal done hiding clear and AV checks.

  Clear the cache and cookies from sites that cause problems.

  "Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > advanced > network > storage (Cache) offline: 'clear now '.

  'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > privacy > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

• Storage not preferences on google.co.uk home page.

  I goto 'search settings' and the 'number of results' other than 10, the change also change moment "Google" setting to "do not use Google Instant. I save preferences, close Firefox and reopen it and it comes back to default settings, it will not save the changes.
