update of Windows vista home premium w/sp2 kb978207 IE8 for vista security update problems

I finally understand exactly update has been the cause of my problems with my laptop could not complete the startup after installing an update.

System: vista home premium w/serv pack 2
Antivirus: Avira
other notable programs: itunes, roxio creator media, Skype, messenger, yh, IE8, msn messenger

I tried several times to install IE8 KB978207 update without success. The last time I tried it, he first gave me an error code of 8024200d, then I reinstalled it. I finally understood by installing the updates one at a time which caused my laptop to not be able to run the start afterreboot after you install updates. I end up having to run the diagnostic tool for starting and when it finishes, I check the error log and it tells me that the reason that she didn't was due to a patch, then using the advanced features to restore my system before installing KB978207.

Does anyone have a solution to get this installed correctly?

I just bought the Windows 7 Home Premium. Am I eligible for an upgrade to Windows 8 when it is available?

Yes.  More likely you qualify for level to Windows 8 If you had Windows 7 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, are all eligible to upgrade.)  Just OS level determines what you will be able to keep for an upgrade).

If you're not confused: is eligible for the upgrade does not have any kind of discount because you just bought Windows 7, unless this purchase of Windows 7 came with a new computer?

  • You can use a Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit code verification for download Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit?

I made a thread on another site that speaks of how I could not allocate enough RAM for a game and the main response that I had been upgraded to 64-Bit Windows 7 for 32-bit will not work. I was wondering if I could use the verification code to a Windows 7 Home Premium disk OS 32 bit, to show that I bought it, to download the same thing only 64-bit. Also the reason why I have OS 32-bit and plays heavy games is because I upgraded my MoBo, I need an operating system and my step dad had one so I used it.

PS Sorry if I put this in the wrong Windows topic.

Where can I download it? Is there a link that you could give me? If Yes please. Thank you very much for the help!

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

    Please contact the Microsoft community.

As you said that you are not able to get new updates of windows on the computer.

I would like to ask some questions about your request:

    1. When was the last time that you install the windows desktop update?

    2. You receive an error message from the updates?

    3. You use any third-party antivirus on the computer?

    4. Did you do any change on your computer before the show?

  • Impossible to upgrade Edition Vista Home premium to Windows 7 Home premium. I get an error type of 3211266.

Yes, I know, I'm a little late.  Vista works fine on my PC and now some third-party vendors are abandoning support of this platform, so I'll try to upgrade to Windows 7 to get a mileage more than my PC until I have to replace it.  I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and he said I could upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium.  It works fine for a few hours, then stops in a few words about the 75% mark in the part "Transfer files, settings and programs" of the upgrade and I get the message - "the installation cannot continue.  "Your computer will now reboot and that your previous version of Windows will be restored.  The good news is that the restoration has worked flawlessly.

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description, I understand that you can not upgrade to Windows 7.

I suggest you to refer to the suggestions by Andre Da Costa MVP responded on December 12, 2009 and check if that helps.

  • Can not access files or a printer on Windows 7 Home Premium system

I have 3 (2 Windows Vista and Windows XP) computers networked through a router.  I have all three computers put in place for sharing files and printers.  I can 'ping', two of the computers to the router and get a satisfactory answer.  My new Windows 7 Home Premium system expires when you ping the router.  It seems that a port entering the Windows 7 Home Premium system blocks all incoming traffic.  Is there a 'port' that I have to open until my other computers can access the Windows 7 Home Premium system?

Given that I had no problem it is networking of my Win7 with OS X, Linux, XP and Vista boxes since the first beta and all the way through for Win7 RTM, nor had no Win7 with LANs ien network problems, something is set incorrectly on your computers. Since there is no way I can tell what the problem is without being on the spot, my only suggestion is that you have a competent local professional, come and straighten things. Do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place.

  • Can I use a product key from my laptop Windows 7 Home Premium OA on the newly installed window.

I want to restart my laptop. I have a copy of windows 7 Home premium since I bought it for my office of game. If I use the CD to install a new window on my laptop. I am able to use my laptop Windows 7 product key to this topic?

If its licensed OEM System Builder that was never used, Yes. If his license OEM from another computer, no.

As mentioned, the laptop must already include factory restore options that may allow you to reinstall the operating system from scratch.

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

  • Downloaded the editor for my Windows 7 Home Premium.

I recently downloaded editor for my Windows 7 Home Premium. My license is for a computer, and I put it on my desk. Can I get a reduced load on a 2nd license for my laptop?

If you purchased the version of the identity card (1user1PC) is only a license for the first PC its installed on, and if this PC dies, so does your driver's license

If you had bought the full retail version you can install it on both devices, and most importantly transfer / install on any new / replacement PC.

There is no discount for buying a 2nd license

If you are in the United States, take advantage of the return of MS policy to return to this purchase, and then buy the commercial version full

  • Why IE of Windows 7 Home Premium gray on "Set as wallpaper" from the popup menu?

I want to put the Bing image as the background image on the desktop of my Windows 7 Home Premium edition.

However, when I gray right click on the image in the context menu the game as background with background save under... and background copy

So I guess my real question is: How can I activate these entries in the context menu in IE of Windows 7 Home Premium.

Thank you for your help in this matter.

    Hi Paul-986,

I should have prefaced my answer with, "this option is not available in IE9, but here is an alternative."  Given that this option is not available in IE9, follow these steps to use bing as a background image:
    1. Go to Bing.com
    2. Press F12
    3. Click on browser Mode and select Internet Explorer 8
Now, do a right click and set the image as a background.
