Updated 10.11.4 (15E65) Mac slow as molasses

I just did the update 10.11.4 (15E65) and now my Macbook is extremely slow. There is nothing open which isn't normally open when I use the computer. I looked at what could be hogging CPU or memory and there is nothing that stands out. I restarted the system twice, hoping that would fix the problem but it didn't.

It's gotten so bad that it is simply impossible to use the computer sometimes.

My specs are:

  • El Capitan 10.11.4 OSX (15E65)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid-2012)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Y at - it a fix for this problem? If I wanted my laptop to run very slowly, I would be stuck with a PC.
