Upgrade T400 WOOD?

Hi all.

I recently bought a thinkpad t400 (ordered on 8 July Lenovo U.S.).

How can I check yes or no whether a BIOS upgrade (the latest version of the BIOS on the lenovo Web site is 3.01 - 1.03,)

Release date: 2009/05/27 -- url --)?

Thank you!

Hi Tty400 and welcome to the Lenovo user community!

You can check your current version of BIOS in all programs > Accessories > system tools > system information.

As to whether a BIOS upgrade is necessary, check the release notes to see if the latest BIOS offers all advantages for you.

  • Satellite 2800-500 BIOS update

I see that there is an update of the bios for the 1.6 x bioses dated 03/01/04 and I have a bios version 1.6 x dated 15/09/2001. What I would like to know is what is the difference between the one I have and the more recent, and if I should upgrade my wood to the new version?

    Hello

I put t know what OS runs on your device, but on the Toshiba site you can find the information that the BIOS 1.6 since 18/12/01 is NOT designed for Windows XP.
The newest BIOS version 1.6 x (03/01/04) is only for Win XP. In this case if you want to upgrade your system to Win XP, you must update the BIOS to the latest version.

  • Satellite P100-145 GPU fan does not work!

    Hello

Is there a solution to this problem yet? He started only since I upgraded my wood to 3.80. The base gets so hot on the right side and it is even radiant heat through the top panel on which my wrist/hand rests.

Not to mention it will slowly destroying components inside. I was running a game more early to test the fan and it would not turn on just once! It was so hot! At least 100 deg/c!

I am wanting to downgrade the bios but cannot find anywhere on the sites of toshibas. Can someone provide me please with details on how to get a bios earlier? 2.40 would be great. Back to factory settings and especially on FAN!

I have the Satellite P100-145. It was great at first... until I found some problems due to the design.

    Help, please

    Hello

It may seem a little weird, but you can repeat the update of the bios? After this, reinstall the latest display drivers available from the toshiba driver download page. Maybe it just s driver related, so you should give it a try...

And Don t forget to give some feedback if it succeeded.

    See you soon

  • Reboot hangs with hard drive led blinking.

My E6430 Latitude has been win10pro win7pro upgrade - no WOOD setting have been changed. It has 8 GB of ram, inspected, reinstall and test. It crashes with a disc hard blinking led that requires the power to complete on a restart button. No problem starting from button walk / stop or stop.

I tried to install the proposed updates for the network and the Chipset on the support site, locally and in safe mode - say that they install, but not for the most recent.  The current A16 BIOS does not update the current A17 or A18. Even by pressing the power button on reboot clears the bios and the driver up to date?

Thank you for your time to consider this, my first post.

Further investigation found loose on the heatsink - screw tightened then disconnected wifi module intel and reinstall the connector screen just next door. With drive HARD and CD/DVD and removed WIFI, I started in Linux Kali on USB stick and hang and restart to work.  Put everything back together and restart the work! Update BIOS to A18.  Thanks for nothing... Not an exact answer to the cause. Hope this helps someone else.

  • Upgrade graphics card on laptop T400?

    Hello

I wonder if it is possible to update the graphics card on my laptop T400. I opened the Device Manager, went to graphics cards, and it's a pretty weak (so I hear) Mobile Intel (r) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. I want to upgrade, because of different reasons. (Which sometimes includes having my computer 'black out' for a second, then say that one sort of thing screen failed but recovered and slow loading images/videos, etc., as well as the main problem of every time I load which is heavy graphics, either an assignment of imagery or a video game, I hear my computer to work extra hard and a 'click' sound comes from my computer that I think and I feel that it is because my) graphics card is "good enough", and I might as well update if possible).

So yes, I was wondering if it is possible to update the graphics card on my laptop of Lenovo T400 and where to buy a new one (if possible).

    Thank you!

    "evening.

in itself, there is no 'graphics card', in your machine. It's all surface mount, welded to the plane. even in the case of models that include switchable graphics, the discrete gpu is soldered (nested vs) to the plane. so, there is no update that way, sorry.

    Kind regards.

  • Problems upgrade memory 8 GB T400.

Trying to upgrade my T400 to 8 GB of ram. Upgrade to the latest version of the BIOS.

    I first tried 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair 1333 MHz DDR3 SO-DIMM, got the 1-3-3-1 beep. Then I tested 1600 MHz DDR3 Hyper-X SO-DIMM Kingston 8 GB (2x4GB) with the same result.

Have been tested with only two modules, in both slots.

Read messages saying that I should set the BIOS to the standard settings, but it did not help. Also discovered that Corsair could be problematic on the Thinkpad.

Is there a chance that I might do something wrong, or is it only the modules of RAM that is not compatible with the T400?

    The essential modules worked well.

  • T400 upgrade options

    Hello

I have a T400 (7417CTO) and looking for possible upgrade options.

I know that some of the options available to drive HARD and memory. But I / m don't know for sure on the following...

    11 b/g wireless LAN Mini-PCIE III 11/n?

I can replace the modem with a different card as wireless USB etc. ?

    TIA

You could spend a T9900, which is the highest specification Core 2 Duo CPU.

The best available WLAN adapter is the 5300, which requires three antennas in the screen; you need to install the yourself third or potentially borrow one of 3G ones.

The Turbo and Wireless USB memory modules are interchangeable and are sitting under the letter B area of the keyboard.

You can get a webcam, BT, etc if you don't have them, but that involves disassembly of the cover.

  • How to upgrade to windows 7 on Thinkpad T400?

I brought the Thinkpad T400 in 2008, I want to run windows 7. I know that I need to update my BIOS to activate windows 7. I'm going to buy a windows 7 at BestBuy, is it OK?

can someone tell me the steps? Thank you very much.

My Thinkpad T400 is CTO of 2764

    Intel Core 2 Duo P8400, 2261 MHz

    ATI Radeon HD3400

    BIOS:

    Version: 7UET43WW (1.13)

    Date: 08/19/2008

    SLIC:

    Version: 2.0

    PubKey: LENOVOTP-7U

    Marker: LENOVOTP-7U

The SLIC table is only important for Windows pre-installed.

Buy Win7 and install it on your computer. Activate it on the internet after all the drivers are installed and working properly. After that drag an image of your HARD drive as a backup to an external drive.

  • T400 RAM upgrade issue

Is this ram work with T400? I know it says memory mac but I just want to know.

    http://www.Amazon.com/Corsair-channel-204-pin-so-DIMM-CMSA8GX3M2A1066C7/DP/B00505EZYW/ref=sr_1_13?IE...

It's the right kind of RAM and specification, but I'm not sure that you should go for the Corsair brand. I'd go with other brands like Crucial, G.skill, KIngston, Samsung.

  • T400s - good memory memory upgrade?

    Hello

I want to ask you for advice. I have T400s 2808-DEG with 4 GB of memory (2 * 2 GB). I would like to move from 32-bit to 64-bit win7 and that's why I want to improve my memory from 4 GB to 8 GB as well. Even if I found in the techniques here what memory must be compatible (what are the aspects are right - DDR3, 1066 MHz) and I found the kit memory here that I am always just amateur. So, do you think it will be ok to work for me?

    Thank you!!! Vitek

If you're not overclocking the ram, there should not be much difference.

  • Worth to upgrade the hardware in 2011 MacBook Pro?

    I have a 2011 end 15 "Macbook Pro (MacBookPro8, 2):"

    CPU: Intel Core i7 (2.5 GHz, 8 MB L3, 4 cores, 256 KB of L2 cache cache)

Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6770 M 1024 MB

Memory: 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (my upgrade using OWC RAM)

Storage: Hitachi 750Go HD, 7200 RPM

Battery *-he won't hold much fees and I always keep connected when possible because battery just does not last too long.

But touch wood... except for the battery, I am happy with this old trick: the performances are quite good (with latest OS X 10.11.3).)

It is interesting to invest in some hardware upgrades that it would rejuvenate significantly?

I think the following (with the current prices of OWC):

    -new battery $99

-SSD, 480 GB OWC Mercury Electra 6G $195 (it is $ 63 less than equivalent Extreme Pro)

-1 TB HGST HD 7200 RPM $98 (with cube data, to be installed in the region of CD)

TOTAL: $392 (I cut this to $287 if I cut half of SSD and HD capabilities)

Opinions? My only concern is this new h/w were in a 5 year old laptop, how does life have left? Will be an investment to upgrade the h/w wasted because of other failures in 2 years?

First of all, longevity... some still run their lighter systems 2008 as web browsers and other tasks.  My MBP 2011 sends this message.

Second... An old battery is just that - something to be replaced instead of a 'sign of death.  I would like to replace it immediately at an Apple Store... old batteries can swell and damage case/keyboard/trackpad.  Maybe not, but it happens quite often.

As for HD... all the spinny readers die subsequently.  You are wise to consider a replacement.  My 2011 MBP has a Crucial MBP (OWC is also a very good drive, and get the non-Pro is not a bad decision, if the Pro is not necessary).

Basically if it's 'OK' outside the farm, the SSD will be much faster and the battery will allow it to better function as a portable device.

< EDIT > The SSD you put into the 2011 models are 2.5, which can be reused in external speakers if the 2011 becomes unsustainable future (could happen).  So the SSD is definitely NOT a waste of money.

  • T400 Rams and ssd compatibility

    Hi all

I'm planing to upgrade the ram and the hard drive of my computer laptop lenovo t400.

Could u pls help me to know what is the only compatible with lenovo t400 ram and ssd?

Note: I tried to upgrade the ram for lenovo t400 with bus 1333 pc-10600 but that does not .

    Kindly advice.

    Concerning

RAM = 1066 mhz 204-pin SODIMM DDR3 (although faster ram is also possible, so 1333 mhz and 1666 mhz DDR3 is also correct). But don't use Corsair ram to avoid problems of incompatibility.

SSD = SATAII (although SATAIII is also backward compatible), 2.5-inch, 9.5/7 mm thick discs.
