Upgrading RAM on my HP Pavilion Media Center m7580.ch, a desktop PC.

Hi I need help, I plan on upgrading my Ram. My PC came with 2 GB of installed RAM (2 X 1 GB) and there are x 4 banks of memory. I ordered 2 x 1 GB RAM to go in 2 banks of memory left and they are the same specification as those already installed but I do not think that it the same manufacturing. Is how important it? or must all be from the same manufacturing? The type of RAM is 1 GB, 240-pin, DDR2 SDRAM, support PC-4200 MB/s speed. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit installed on my PC.

For optimal compatibility, memory modules should all be the same density (512 MB / 1 GB) and from the same manufacturer... Which assure the chips on the module are identical.  It is strongly recommended that you buy only the modules that are guaranteed compatible. Brands like Kingston, Crucial, OCZ and Corsair come with this guarantee. No name brands may or may not work with your PC. Go on line on the site of manufacturers of memory and know what part number is guaranteed to work with your PC. Corsair Kingston CrucialOCZ

  • Question: Upgrade of RAM for my HP Pavilion Media Center m7480n

First of all, I want to say hello to everyone on the HP Forum community and thank everyone for their help and support since his arrival at the Forum.

I have a HP Pavilion Desktop Media Center m7480n:

    Card upgrade memory:

    Hello

That your PC has two free memory slots, and you bought ram DDR2 533 MHz 2 GB (1 GB x 2) memory. Compatibility should not be a problem. You have the right type and the amount of RAM in your PC. Once installed, it will take the total of your system's RAM to 4 GB. However, the caveat is that 32-bit operating systems can use only 3.25 GB of the 4 GB installed. This is a limitation of the memory address. Most of the personal computer world continues to use the 32-bit Windows XP/Vista or 7 versions.

Upgrade from 2 GB to 4 GB would be beneficial for people who are heavy multitasking and running many background applications. In the field of heavy multitasking, the processor (CPU) begins plays a more important role, as an increase in the number of cores (e.g. upgrade of duals to four hearts) will prove beneficial, that simply increase RAM. I think that 2 GB of RAM should be sufficient for basic multitasking averages. Even most PC games benefit much from 2 GB to 4 GB.

However with the RAM being if pricey as it is these days, it never hurts the Pocket to upgrade. As you have already purchased the RAM, go and plug it by all means, you should see a marginal improvement in performance. You can check this document before you install the memory modules: upgrading memory (RAM)

    Hope this has been helpful.

  • HP Pavilion Media Center m7580: HP Pavilion Media Center m7580n recovery disks

I have an old HP Pavilion m7580n Media Center, provided with Windows XP - I put it to update to Vista Ultimate (64-bit). I wish she were bacek to a very basic Windows OS XP, any suggestions? Do you think I can buy a new XP license, or can I use my product key for XP? I can't find any Revoery disc. ANY help would be appreicated - thank you.

    You are the very welcome.

You should have no problem with that, and your PC will run probably better, because a 64-bit operating system requires more memory and disk space to run a 32 bit OS only.

Given that your PC can take up to 4 GB of memory, there is no advantage to run an operating system to 64-bit on it.

  • Pavilion Media Center a1640n: options of CPU upgrade for an old HP Pavilion Media Center a1640n...

Hi all.  I've been cleaning and updating my granddaughter desktop PC.  This model used by an Asus P5BW - rev 1.05 MB (HP/Compaq name: Buckeye-GL8E), a processor Intel E6300 4x1Go RAM PC2-6400 and runs a 10 Pro 64-bit Windows installation.

I thought I would upgrade the CPU while I was there and bought an E6700 opportunity that is part of the Intel same product range with plug, with the exception of the higher clock speed.  On these two circuits rated FSB is 1066 and documentations of HP wrote this should work: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00748726

However - there is always a but isn't there - the E6700 does not start in the BIOS.  No beep codes or any other indication, just never reveals the splash screen.  I have reset the CMOS, tried more fast RAM RAM slower but none of these things makes no difference.  I checked to see if there was a BIOS later / updated but it seems that it was never a product, v3.17, and this is what is currently installed.

Does anyone know if there are some technical limitations - like model of processor being hard coded in the BIOS or something like that--that it prevents the work or have I bought probably a bad cpu chip?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Howard

    Resmond, WA

    Greetings,

The processor should work as the specs are the same.

When you reinstall the E6300 it starts fine but the E6700 is DOA.

Looks like a bad chip. The only way to check is to install the E6700 in a different motherboard.

  • HP Pavilion Media Center m8200n Desktop PC upgrades tips and advice help.

Hello everyone I have a HP Pavilion Media Center m8200n desktop PC that I'm looking to upgrade. Can someone please advice me on the following topics:

Memory: What is the best possible that my system can contain that currently, I am running windows 7 ultimate 32 bit

Video card: I'm looking to install a decent video with hdmi support card that my system can contain I am aware that I can not use certain cause of my ability video cards, the upgrade of the power may be an option. Can someone advice me please on these subjects, it will be very appreciated thanks everyone I'll be sure to rep and appreciate all help thanks.

Without replacing the power supply, the EVGA NVIDIA GT 240 1 GB GDDR5 should work. This card is spec'd for a PSU with 18 amps of bus + 12 volts. This card can stretch your PSU, but give it a try.  I have this card in my system of m9200t.  This card will give the treatment a real helping hand from your video.

Review the specifications of performance ATI and NVIDIA . Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

How to replace a video card.

Your PC will not work with memory dual channel and the processor will dictate the speed of transfer.  Wait for the upgrade of the processor until you see how the system works.

I have a Hp Pavilion Media Center Edition 2002 running. How will I know if I have all the patches and updates, I need? Also is free upgrade to the edition of 2005?

Hi Philofduluth and thanks for posting.

There is not a free upgrade for Media Center 2005. If this is something you would like to do, I contact your OEM manufacturer and ask if there is a software upgrade, they can provide you.

If you have all the updates that are available for your system go to http://update.microsoft.com . Here, you can see all the latest reviews and optional updates that may be available to you and make install.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

  • HP Pavilion Media Center m8160 Win7 upgrade?

Will be my HP Pavilion Media Center m8160, running 32-bit win7, run a 64-bit version of Win8? My flag has an E4400 clocked at 2 Mhz.? I've already upgraded the card wirelessly with a compatible W8.

    Hello:

The E4400 is a compatible processor 64-bit, your PC can run a 64-bit operating system.

    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/29753/Intel-Core2-Duo-processor-E4400-2m-cache-2_00-GHz-800-MHz-FSB?q=E4400

Whether or not you will find W8 drivers for other devices in your model, I couldn't say for sure 100% that of course it will run W8 very well.

A note... a 64-bit operating system uses more memory and disk space to run that operating system 32-bit, if you have less than 4 GB of memory in your PC, I would install more memory or install a 32-bit operating system.

  • Pavilion Media Center m7680n: units sale Hp pavilion media center m7680n

Hey community I want to know how much I could sell a m7680n Pavilion Media Center for. The base model is $1 230 and it has 2 GB of Ram and a GeForce 7300. I upgraded mine to 4 GB Ram and GeForce 610. If I sell, I could at least $500 for a new PC? Thank you

PS - it is dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 14.10. Ubuntu has 6 GB of disk space, while Windows 7 has 240GB

According to who you sell to, you could sell for close to $500 used under the terms of the Media Center.

  • HP Pavilion Media Center a1610n problem

So I had this problem which started today.

When I booted my PC: HP Pavilion Media Center a1610n - it goes to the startup screen with the HP logo but it remains just there frozen.

Another thing I have noticed is my mouse and keyboard are not powered at all even though they are correctly connected to their respective ports.

I don't know why he acts up like this now. I tried to connect the mouse to another PC and it worked, so there must be something wrong with the HP Pavilion itself.

Wouldn't be the motherboard or some circuit?

Other things to note that I got this PC reformatted all for more than a year with an installation of XP (as he came originally with XP).

Restarted the PC and still has the same issues. CD Player opens, the PC itself is powered and the screen is frozen on the blue screen HP startup. (Shows the menu and controls everything, but can not yet exploited cause there is not going to the keyboard.)

It is possible that a RAM module is either lost contact with the slot, or is defective. Can help with reintegration.

    (1) note what slots are occupied. Remove all the RAM of motherboard. Here's the tech manual. Put 1 module in the slot located near the CPU. According to the chassis, it could have a radiator/fan together.

    (2) unit to retest. Repeat with additional modules.

    (3) any module that tests OK can be reinstalled in appropriate accommodation.

  • Pavilion Media Center M8400f Bios Update for Windows 7

HP Pavilion Media Center m8400f. The Vista operating system has been replaced by Windows 7 (64 bit) a number of years.

I've updated one of my hard drives with a SanDisk SSD (it is now my main drive with the operating system and all my files on board).

The bios on the PC has never been updated.

The SanDisk SSD dashboard software will not recognize the SanDisk SSD as the system has designated the SSD as a SCSI device. I need to access the bios for this change to AHCI. The current bios does not support this.

The PC has a card mother MCP61PM-HM. There is no update for Windows 7 BIOS for that motherboard I know (updates Vista only).

SanDisk gave me a link to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-82094-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&... that shows a card mother M2P61PM-HM for m8400f desktop PC. This Bios download supports Windows 7 (64 bit).

Can update the Bios to download safely a card mother M2P61PM-HM for card mother MCP61PM-HM I currently have?

    Hello

The HP BIOS update link provided SanDisk is an update of the BIOS of your PC. It is listed under Win Vista 64 bit driver downloads here.

If you look at the site to download the drivers for your PC you'll only see driver support for Win Vista but on 2010-04-08, Version 5.29, 1.47 M BIOS updatedshows support for Win 7.

But the problem is this: the BIOS updates must be performed using the PC operating system comes with; in your case, Win Vista. Extreme care must be exercised when updating the BIOS under normal circumstances. I would not classify your situation as usual.

I saw others download an update of the BIOS for their PC and try to install an operating system upgraded with disastrous effects. The PC was bricked.

Be prepared for the worst case if you try to install the update to the BIOS.

    Hi, Henrik:

Specifications of your PC seem to meet all of the hardware requirements to be able to fully run W7.

    P D 915 processor is capable of 64-bit.

    ( (4M-Cache-2_80-GHz-800-MHz-FSB http://ark.intel.com/products/27515/Intel-Pentium-D-Processor-915-)

I recommend you max on your memory to 4 GB as a 64-bit operating system requires more memory to run a 32 bit OS.

A 32 bit OS will perform better on a PC that is running less than 4 GB of memory, unless you need a 64-bit system to run 64-bit programs.

I would also start the W7 Upgrade Advisor to confirm what I posted.
