  Depending on the context, I'll assume that you are asking how to unload files of songs from an iPod to a computer.  iTunes synchronization is generally in one direction, from iTunes to iPod library.   I do it with a G4 OS Tiger and the Mavericks MacBook by plugging into an Ethernet jack on my router and by enabling the sharing of files on the G4 in System Preferences > sharing.  If items are placed in a folder called 'Public', it can be read by anyone on the network by logging in as a guest. Otherwise, if I login with my user ID on this computer I get access read/write for all of my folders.
