VC_RED

Because I'm tweak trigger-happy, I became aware of what is in my C: drive at some point. Now, everything that the sudden there is this previously unknown of VC_RED with the category "CAB file. What is c? How it is there? Do I need? Should I keep or delete?

They are artifacts of an installation of Microsoft and explained here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950683

VCRedist of VC ++ 2008 installs the temporary files in the root directory of the system.

I know that its an old thread, but I found my own research as to what they were and thought that someone else would need the answer as well.

However, I managed to install Office XP Pro and Stanza eBook reader. Disabled UAC - no difference. Ideas appreciated. It's driving me crazy

I tried to install the redistributable adequate to get AVG Free to work for a while now, because it keeps failing when you try to install this redistributable, so I try to install it myself, but I am facing this problem every time.

For further information, information on what I tried already:

    • Ran as administrator
    • Ran sfc/scannow to check tampering (it has none).
    • Verified that the Windows Installer service is running.
    • Running under a "clean boot".
    • Msiexec recorded and re-recorded
    • Checked the registry pending file rename operations and facilities (there is none).
    • Checked the registry that the system has full access to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer

None of this worked, I checked my programs, and I have all the redistributable files except 2010.

Managed to fix it myself. A certain Microsoft Security day seems to have messed up the installation of some programs, as I had a problem installing Skype, which is how I came across the solution.

Uninstall the update of security for Windows 7 for x 64-based systems (KB2918614) and hide. For some reason, this update asks a lot of questions, uninstall, restart, hide it so it installs ever again, and you'll find that installs that previously mysteriously not has not now works again.

    Hi guys,.

I can't extract the Redistributable (vcredist_x86, vcredist_x64) for VS2010 so that I can access the msvcr100.dll. This works, however, with the redistributable MS2008.

My approach is as follows. I have download the distributable from http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/6/D/C6D0FD4E-9E53-4897-9B91-836EBA2AACD3/vcredist_x86.exe in downloads. I run

    Hi, Snack,

Thanks for posting your query on our community.

From your description, I understand that you can not install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package on your computer Windows 8.

To summarize for those who are still confused (I got it to work), deploy the Setup.exe (no order required for installation in silent mode) in SCCM.

The Adobe Customization Wizard allows you to make changes, licenses and other. I used the ACW to inject acrobat.dll value into the value by default "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\11.0\Language\current\" and then saved as "Custom.mst" changes with the transformation to generate in the ACW.
